I hear you and don’t like animation being devalued. Though, these adaptations if they go well will only encourage people to get into the animated works. And for the people who refuse animated they will at least come to appreciate the stories more than they do currently. At least understand why others enjoy them. I don’t think this is a bad thing. And honestly, I’m just such a fan I’m all for the live actions. It’s fun to see my favorite stories adapted. The anime and source materials aren’t going anywhere. I’m all for this time line! As for the quality, I’m convinced making decent adaptations is possible and really only a struggle because of the disrespect Hollywood bigwigs treat animation with. If they actually committed and tried to make decent adaptations (put the money into it) animated to live action wouldn’t have that horrible image.

The OPLA is not complete garbage and is probably the best live action anime ever made, but I feel like a lot of people misconstrue that with it being a “perfect adaptation” which it really isn’t.
@GODHAND427 ай бұрын
Inclined to agree, but being the best live action anime doesn’t mean much when all the rest of them are horrible. The best parts about it were just the things that already made the anime/manga good

Live action can work well for more realistic manga/anime as you said. And turning to One Piece, I think Klahadore is a pretty realistic villain, and he translated well into live action, but others like Morgan looked goofy. Luffy's gum gum attacks were definitely a bit distracting too compared to how the other Straw Hats fit in better in live action.
@detectivestick88589 ай бұрын
Bro do u know what kills me. Luffys straw hat must be the most durable thing in all of live action anime bc, at 17, his had it since he was 7, Shanks had it from like 30 since he was 8 and Roger had it for like, at least 20yrs before be died? So like from 40, when he gave it to shanks, since the time he left on his adventure, lets say like early 20s late teens. That hat, at the youngest, is 50+ fucking years old when luffy sets out. Why does look like it was weaved right befor he left🤣

I don't get the appeal of live action adaptations. A big appeal of Ghost in the Shell, at least for me, is the animation. Especially in the detailed and hand drawn backgrounds, I could pause the film just to stare at them. I don't like the YYH live action either, I've started reading the manga instead.

When it comes to any animation being adapted into live action form they lose this unique factor from animation that made them special in the first place like either from disney remakes or anime live action anime. It lost this ingredient where live action counterpart was trying to catch up too. One piece la was good for what is but it lack this kinetic energy the manga and anime perfectly accommodate for the story. The fights feel restrictive and slow. (Other than zoros) the characters are somewhat accurate but lack overall spirit the made their counterparts very lively in the original source. I feel the overall feel and insanity from the manga is going to be tone down or cheaply made because it will feel too much at certain times especially dealing with budget and time
@10ply449 ай бұрын
I agree with you on principle. I’d rather have quality entertainment. However you’re wrong, at least when it comes to the one piece la. It wasn’t made to be better than the original, its purpose was to be just good enough to drive people to the original work, just like the anime (they’re both just advertising for the manga). Like it or not, it succeeded in getting new fans into the story.
@johncarloscritica94719 ай бұрын
I think the best live action adaptation is rurouni kenshin. Because lesser cringe and lesser stylize anime act style. It is dark and the massive time in fight scene overcomes the cringeness of the characters in the live action. Characters as anime are good because anime has huge deviation from what we perceived is realistic in life. Characters in anime can be hugely obssessive with other character and can speak their hearts out but cannot make that same in live action because it is gay or bas taste.
@Tsukiiyo79 ай бұрын
Been saying this for so long, any live action adaptation of any anime is going to be trash as far as I'm concerned, beyond not needing to adhere to the laws of reality, even the dialogue in a lot of anime only works because it's anime. In live-action that same dialogue appears cringey and low effort. There are only a few anime out there that could be made live action without being a total pile of trash, (the only half decent example I know of being Alice in Borderland,) and that probably only worked due to the anime being mostly realistic. But for whatever reason enough people are actually watching these shitty live adaptations and so they will keep making them. The only way these companies stop making them is if people stop watching.

You're the first person I found who didn't like the One Piece live action and made good arguments against it. I'm a huge One Piece fan but the live action was painful to watch, I couldn't even get through half of it. I felt like I was going crazy with how much positive reception it was getting lol. Dialogue was of course the worst part, all the talking sounds extremely unnatural and forced. Also, the character design in the One Piece live action wasn't great imo. It's strange how all these pirates have new looking, plastic-y clothing.

A lot of Marvel/DC projects have cosplay syndrom as well, and are rightly criticized in many ways. Their live action adaptations showes that it is possible to create good live action adaptations from cartoons. I am hopefull and excited by the passion alot of the actors for the different live action series are putting in for these showes. They might be in it bigtime for the money, but who seriously aint, with these opportunities. The amount of workplaces being created by showes like one piece live action in South Africa is amazing. I might just be naive and hopefull, but i am really hoping for sucessfull projects from Naruto and MHA despite different earlier live action woes.

The One Piece live action adaptation is excellent so I'm sorry, you're just wrong. And it has made a lot of people into fans which it was very much designed to do, it's got a lot more people into this world and that's what Oda himself wanted, he knew this would be the last change to truly bring One Piece to the world and this series succeeded in that, as evidenced by the fact it's getting a second season!
