This is a big misconceptions that china prograeessed rapidly because of economic reform in 1978, but truth is that china had become a semi industrialized country before the reform itself. Mao had started it it great leap forward, at that time china had built various machinary and even satttelite, textiles machinary and huge production of steels and even Navy ships and submarine. It's just that it was all run by psu and under state control so output wasn't that great but when it reformed so they didn't have to rebuild everything from scratch, that's why china rapidly industrialized because they already knew and had semi experienced and that's where india failed even after Liberalization of economy because nobody else will bring whole industry in india when most of the people were in agriculture sector and other didn't know what is meant by industrialization . Industrializion is a huge time taking as well as resources taking task even after 30 years india is Haven't industrialised.
