Kidd is a roster manager, not a coach. Even when the fanbase is happy with him it's just because of lineup choices he gets right, not strat or play design. The slow starts are annoying. But I feel like they are getting good looks for most of the time. I guess they just need to be locked in a little better. Maybe the problem is there is too much focus on the good start on offense that it should be the other way around. Get a REALLY good start on defense to help give your 1st quarter offense some juice. Cause honestly, the Mavs transition game has been pretty effing lethal. Especially with a Naji out there. You've got defenders scrambling to find Luka, Ky & Klay that Naji has all this space to drive the lane with. Hell, a similar thing happened with Grimes. I guess it may not exactly count as fast break but it was certainly still transition points. But the Grimes & Spence 2 man fast break where Grimes almost pulls back and getting ready for the offense to get back but the defender just goes to find Kyrie or someone leaving Grimes with a easy lay-in. That's the kind of pressure the Mavs fast break puts on teams, so if the Mavs can just lock in on defense to start the game....the offense will come. But I do wonder what happened to Grimes & Hardy. I can kinda guess with Hardy why he's back in the doghouse. But Grimes seems to be playing good ball whenever I see him out there. Saw him keeping Book and others from getting to the lane. And maybe he is settling for too many 3s but I've seen worse offense.

absolutely. the refs are just refs, and thus neutral, until you piss them off so completely that they collectively galvanize against you, forming (effectively) a third team on the court, 2 vs 1. @Someguy88223 күн бұрын
I agree to an extent but refs aren’t neutral. The NBA definitely has a reffing problem and don’t get me wrong, Luka is likely getting fouled at least half the time he complains. Spencer Dinwiddie needs to be aggressive. 2 shots in 28 minutes? Literally every game, he goes out there and facilitates/lackadaisical in the corner, does what the coaches want him to do, but he needs to attack the basket with the aggression he had in 2022 (and 2023 when Luka was injured) when he'd hit big threes and driving dunks. Dinwiddie is facilitating, complying with coaches to the T, and thinking too much when he needs to react and attack. Spencer is way too versatile, smart, and impactful to be relegated to a robot following orders.

Now the guy who said Quentin Grimes over Josh Green can be quiet now. I already said it before the season that this bench was iffy with the 3 guards and Kleber(Health) and it was going to be a trial for new faces like Naji, Klay, and Grimes to pick up on Kidd's Defensive schemes but I didn't expect Quentin Grimes to bomb this hard especially on defense. Its not just him not showing communication but he constantly gets beaten in 1v1. Without Kyrie working magic in his staggered minutes with the 2nd unit the Bench would've looked like a train wreck this season. Its insane the type of gravity Kyrie generates on Offense to get Naji, Lively, and others clean looks. This shouldn't get underrated either. Without Kyrie then Luka would've needed to be in this position which would mean he would need to play 42-43 minutes a night which we all know how that went in the 2022-2023 season after Brunson left. Now what's next after this little rant? I'm officially starting the clock on the 3 stooges on the bench that is the guard trio(Spencer, Hardy, and Grimes). 10-12 games to see who can win the SG off the bench role between Spencer and Hardy(Exum coming back so 1 has to go). Grimes proving if he can hustle as a defender and opportunistic player on offense. If he can't then I say ship him off and give O-Max his minutes since he plays the SF spot in his bench minutes rather than SG. O-Max frame, quickness, and Wingspan fits this better than PF which isn't his game. If O-Max can't handle it then find out with Kessler Edwards got. Kleber when he gets back got 12 games to get it together but if he can't hold up then I'm shipping him to Brooklyn to get DFS back as he's got the strength and size to handle the PF position with better durability. He just help lock up BOS and Tatum on multiple possessions tonight.

Yes it was a frustrating loss but its early. Phx is playing well, we are dinged up a bit, and Kidd is still figuring out his rotation. Only thing that bothers me is his insistence on playing Luka and Kyrie over 40 minutes yet again. Stop doing that. Long season, on to the next one.

So SICK of seeing Mavs 5 on 8! Refs might as well wear the opponent's jerseys during the game cuz we can all see they are doing anything they can to help the other team win with BOGUS calls and BS Techs and Fouls! Refs gave PHX that game with all the BS touch foul calls on the Mavs while the other team gets to grab, hack, foul and no whistle from Refs against Mavs shooters!

Wonder why no foul was called on O’Neal when he shoved Gafford out of position allowing Nurkic to rebound the ball at the end of the game. In that case, Gafford should have been shooting those final free throws, right?

Towards the end of last season and playoffs the team rotations were awesome. They have the personnel to kind of run it back, maybe even better. But they are doing something totally different Naji in the starting line up for DJJ Klay of the bench as a THJ Grimes consistent minutes as Josh Green That’s basically the same team, why change it so much?

I don"t get how can Tony Brothers or Foster and some others still be on the court. They are super old. You don"t see so old referies in Europe. I think is obvious why. You just can"t follow the game at his age. It"s natural. For some reason you heve fosils on court in NBA. Quality of calls is way worse than in Europe as result. Its terrible actualy. About the Mavs: I think they were just not good enought in this game. Specialy bench. Only 9 pts from the bench??? To many missing players and bench is not good enought to even play more than few minutes. More or less they played with 7 players.

That's a block and the hand is part of the ball. Nurkic had both hands on the ball and Gafford got gall first, before the hand contact. I thought the new rule allows for Discovery by Refs, while they review plays??

Fantastic game spoilt by refs. It seems other refs are always instructed by TB. Missing Lively and missing Sharp (that was bad decision to let him go). These days team with the tallest guy wins the game. Sengun or Nurkic. Luka is not fully fit. Or playing defence is deflating him.

Good players should be able to make difficult shots. He had 13 shot attempts and only made 4. And 1/7 3pm - only 14%? That’s insane. Is it really that he can only make wide open shots? If so I think that’s a problem.

@@bepperappa1856 never said he was the problem, just said he's never been a guy to rely on as far as offense, especially when things get tough. Seen it time and times again when he was in gsw. He's a good complimentary to ky and Luka, long as he makes 3s but people shouldn't expect him to consistently create his shots and give you 20 ppg at will, not gonna happen. Kidd is def not a championship level coach, it's obvious, he brings no fire to this team, guys are too relaxed. It's all about relying on the stars with him.
