Luka Doncic is a narcisstic player without taking responsibility of his actions. Now we see that the Mavs are playing better team basketball than without him. And for me, growing up with the NBA of the 90s, the lack of defense is something that watching games is no more enjoyable.

Not for nothing but I think you meant with him even though it's not true he's not playing up to his potential early in this season, it's easy to kick a man when he's down and I am sure you'll be chewing your foot by seasons end and when it's all said and done he might even have lead his team to a championship.

Way too sensational. The answer to that is, without any semblance of a doubt, Joel Embiid. Can play like an MVP when healthy, but he plays a disgustingly awful brand of basketball (tons of flopping, foul baiting, and dirty reckless play), can’t stay healthy to begin with, hasn’t made it past the 2nd round no matter which stars he’s paired with, and never takes any personal responsibility for the 76ers’ shortcomings, always blaming either the coaches, other players, refs, or even the fans, as was the case in the 2024 playoffs

Yes his defense is lazy and yes his conditioning is bad, but whoever questions him or says he is hurting his team needs to just check the stats. He has been winning since his first day in the league, has led his team almost singlehandedly to deep playoff runs putting up monster numbers, has been snubbed for MVP at least twaice and on defense the refs disrespect him giving him bs calls, just because of the narative that he's bad on defense.

Lazy take. Harden's playoff implosions are well documented. Luka has been the complete opposite, he's an all time great playoff performer. That's a pretty big delineation if you ask me. It's easy to see the Boston series as Luka's fault. Again, that's lazy. Boston was just the deeper team. Jaylen and JT performed TERRIBLY but they had enough other guys to contribute. On the other hand, Kyrie didn't contribute as he normally did and the Mavs as a team were missing wide open shots at an unprecedented rate. Even with all Luka's flaws, Mavs defense held Boston to about 100 pts/game but they didn't have enough offensively as a team. Also just focusing on the Boston series ignores how Luka led the Mavs to series wins over 3 of the top 4 teams in the West without home court. And we all remember what he did to the 60-win Suns in a Game 7 on their court. Long story short, sure he may end up being ringless like Harden but to date their playoff resumes aren't comparable in the least.

It's disheartening and frustrating to watch. I have been a big fan of the guy, thinking of him as a kind of Bird/Nash combo, two of my favorite players. Nash was one of the worst defenders in history but at least he played his ass off. Bro led his team through entire playoff series against superstars like Kobe Bryant with his (Nash) face taped together. I thought Luka would develop this kind of toughness/tenacity eventually, but unfortunately it seems like all of the modern league's worst tendencies have rubbed off on him. He thought he could get away with it all, that he was the unicorn, the one guy that comes along and just defies all logic. But nope, that's Nikola Jokic.
@MikeKorzemba3 сағат бұрын
That’s how I feel, great comment. And I’m still fully rooting for him to take that next leap, but the offseason matters and god given talent only takes you so far
@moses96473 сағат бұрын
I'm not sure this tracks... He just had a pretty phenomenal playoff run while visibly bleeding from his knees all playoffs and being hobbled. He led his team to wins over 3 of the top 4 teams in the much better Western conference and ran into a buzzsaw in the Finals. I think it's early to sell Luka stock. His team is the deepest it's been this year giving him more time to get into the playoffs healthy. A healthy playoffs Luka (see 2020-2022) with the depth of this team on both ends will be a force to reckon with yet
