US and the west always said that China is a communist country, an authoritarian state, has no democracy, no human rights and no freedom. Why are they interested in Vietnam who is also a communist county, an authoritarian state and has no freedom and human rights? Why be a hypocrite and practice double standards? Why aren't they interested in India, the world largest democratic country like themselves?

Vietnam is NOT a democratic country? You must be joking! For a country like Canada must ONLY trade with democratic countries, according to their book

Politics are always hypocrite. The West back then agreed to create a state for Israel but refused it now for Palestine. Russia invaded a sovereign Ukraine but Russia qualified for a seat of UN Security Council. One big mistake from this video is the man said China and Vietnam have a close relationship. The reality is 100% opposite. Historically Vietnam fought China for 1000 years for independence. 9 out of 10 Vietnamese hates China and 6 out of 10 of them like US. Vietnam knows China want to dominate not only the world but also in the region. That's the reason why China have problems of land and sea territory with almost neighboring countries. The only country in the region is possible to stop or fight China is Vietnam. The west has to forgo the authoritarian state like Vietnam in exchange of geopolitical advantage. Why don't they chose India, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico.....A lot of factors needed to consider for those countries. Religious conflict exists in India and Philippines, educated labor force, mentality, customs, infrastructure.....Companies do have experts to know which country fit their analysis to make investment decision.

@@thumtlnguyen3626 WOW, you might forget one factor, the communist party. Under communist arty, the land is owned by the state, and much easier to develop for industrial investors, cost-effectively speaking.

@@ngt41967 You only own the right to use the land for a specified period of time, not own the land. It's specifically said so in the red booklet when you buy land, for housing or otherwise. You think that land belong to you forever, you're delusional.

Shallow discussion of Vietnam economic potential. If you want to discuss trade, then examine competitive advantages and substantive statistics. Putting politics and human rights before trade will go no where with the Politburo. Vietnam is more like China in term of political structure and culture than any other Southeast Asian country. VN have learn to imitate the China Model and policies for 3 decades since 1994 not 1987 (Doi Moi). Canada and the US are late to the game as compared to Japan, Korea, Singapore and China/HK/S Korea look at registered and cumulative FDI, the EU amount are immaterial. Vietnam is becoming another node in the global supply chain but does not have the infrastructure, workforce nor industrial capacity to replace China, in the commonly reference China plus one narrative. The headlines and news coverage reflect ambition and potential. When examine against the GSO reported data, implementation and execution are delayed and often subpar. An example are the metro subways in Hanoi and HCM deadlines in 2015 with numerous ammendments and over payments to the Japanese Contractors. A more prudent substantive discussion is required.
