It's so nice to see a photography channel done by a hobbyist! Photographing for the sheer pleasure of it is simply the best feeling IMO. You can make money other ways to support your passion.

love your thought behind “you are what you shoot.” because of social media, it makes it too easy for me to compare and contrast, rarely ever taking into consideration how photography itself makes me feel. how my photography is a manifestation of the way i see the world. and that’s so damn special. to hear you say that as a photographer, you notice. it kind of feels nice to know that another artist out there will ‘see’ you one day.

Hi Justine. Firstly, I like the tempo of your videos as it enables me to watch for longer. Yes, we are what we shoot because our pictures reflect of experiences and references. You called yourself a hobbyist, I call myself a happy snapper. It is joyous to take pictures.

Hey Justine, I was sent here by Camera Conspiracies, and I wanna tell you, after watching a few of your vids, I love your uniqueness, your stories, your thoughtprocesses. Good videos, looking forward to more to come, cheers from Red Deer, Alberta btw.

Any recommendations for 'How to" go about getting a zine made, what printing service, etc thanks for the upload 👍👍

I’ll work on a video on that! Thanks for watching ☺️

I used to use Blurb but I prefer Mixam now. Very easy to use their design tool, too!

So happy we were able to meet and talk about photography during your visit to NYC. And I agree about the photo count for zines, 20-30 images is the sweet spot. If it has more than 30 I think that’s a good starting point for a more in-depth project like a photobook.

Well then, that was a nice little video essay to stumble upon. Really enjoyed your relaxed style and delivery. Subbed.

This comment sounds a little creepy. I feel like it is best to join a photography group on social media.

That was a fun video! I hope you do more zine vlogs every so often. I keep meaning to put together a photo zine, and possibly attach a DJ mix CD to one of the inner covers. It would be two of my favorite physical media in one!
@BadSloucher3 ай бұрын
Or a link to your Spotify playlist in case no one has a CD player anymore 😅
@JamesMincey3 ай бұрын
@@BadSloucher Oh wow, that's a great idea! Maybe a link to the mix on Soundcloud since that would give people the option to stream and/or download the original file if they wanted.

Been interest in making a zine for a while, just haven’t gotten around to it 😂 Just bought a motherload of film photography gear back to China from my parents house in the UK so might do one with just film photography.

I currently use a Nikon D5500 and I want to make photography books. And I am interested in making a zine

So timely... I've just been thinking about doing this myself and was considering a collection of 24 images, but I don't know why that number nor do I know if I'll actually talk myself out of the whole thing and end up with 0 images. Great video; got me re-motivated!

Hi there! I really enjoyed your video and your support of photographer’s who have made their own zine project. I recently produced my own zine project and if you’re interested I’d like to send you a copy. No charge just a free copy from one creative to another. Thanks for making this video and all the best.

I really do need to print my work some time soon. It just lingers online never to be seen by me ever again. I have a what-I-guess-qualifies-as-a-zine that I had made five years ago of a mishmash of photos I made. I still look through that zine a few times a year. Maybe at the end of this year I'll take time to review what I've made. Maybe.

I created a photo book using Shutterfly. Even spent 2 hrs of my life, to realize it would cost me £60. Never purchased it. How cheap are zines?
@BadSloucher3 ай бұрын
Zines can be as cheap as you want them to be. Some people literally paste/tape prints into a paper booklet and photocopy it.

If you start something like a zine club, where you can like get one zine a month and maybe analize it and coment it with the members i would gladly join, im currently living in place where theres no much cultural movement, i love street photography, i own the main photo books from the masters but like you i want to be more exposed to new artists.
