When I was a poor student in Japan I was the equivalent of a 'chameishi man'. I probably would have never been able to afford my tuition if women hadn't paid for the majority of my food. As for what that's called in English, I first heard the term "dinner wh*re" back in 2006. Chameishi is far too polite a term to describe a person who presumes that the value of their time is somehow greater than yours.

Enjo kōsai can specifically involve high school, even underage girls. It means compensates dating. While there's certainly a possible overlap, papa katsu does not specifically focus on that demographic.

@LukasVokrinek Жыл бұрын
@@Account.for.Comment I don't think the news is shocking. It's been part of the Japanese culture since early history. The Western audience might not like it though. And also, Japan has had to make sure it's not something the media talks about much. The high school ages are generally considered the golden ages and so they're idolized a lot. You can see a lot of anime doing that which reflects one aspect of the Japanese culture. Hence the compensated dating

@@LukasVokrinek It has been always been the case everywhere, but it used to result in marriage, rather than prostitution. The ways Papa Katsu was talked as sth new, surprised me. But I guess it is only on western news and social media, that viewed it as shocking. I' m glad I lived before the internet.

But why can their be anything better for students. I heard that school aid, scholarships and loans hace to be paid back and its not like the usa. So it's the reason many students fall unto poverty or hard times. Because of this they start trying to get side gigs or side hustles.
