It's a damn shame MC Hammer doesn't get the credit that he truly deserves. Salute to the legendary MC Hammer!

MC Hammer is a good brother in Christ. He's not one of my Favorite MC's but he made positive clean music and he was diverse. Party songs "U Can't touch this"-Gospel "Pray", Love songs "Have you seen here", Hard core party "Let's get it started", "Don't stop". I respected his battle track "Break em off sumthin proper" we he responded to his critics.

Hammer didn't deserve the backlash he got. People like Diddy and Jigga were the REAL "SELLOUTS" and deserved it far more. All Hammer sold out was ARENAS.

I brought that album Let’s get it started, pump it up was my song. But I heard Hammer was really Gangster his background he just made totally different music. But good video I didn’t know he sold that much records wow.

Hammer opened up the financial floodgates for hip hop, and should be revered and celebrated for that fact alone. As an artist, though, I think 2 Legit 2 Quit was the moment the shark was jumped, and it was downhill from there (the Addams Family song was award-winningly terrible). I was legit shocked to learn that Funky Headhunter went platinum - the man still had a legion of fans, and reached heights very few could even sniff, much-less attain. I DO wonder, though, what kind of numbers his unreleased Death Row album would've done (I've heard it, and there are some legit joints on there), but I think the ship had already sailed on his career at that point.

first time I have to disagree, looking at hammer thru 2024 eyes, yea he seem perfectly fine, but thats not how the masses "hip hop masses " felt back in the day, yes everyone now is trying to be hammer basically but that didn't make it a good thing, we knew back then he would open the door to people and places we didn't want or need because of what history has shown us, no disrespect to hammer cas it was bound to happen, if not him then another guy would have taken his place.

I believe that you can’t touch this “ wasn’t first released as a single and that’s why that album moved so fast…

I liked some of his songs and respected him for being what he was and not fronting that he was something different than he was. Then he did Pumps and a Bump and went gangster...when he did that, I lost all respect for him. I didn't mind Adam's Family.... Taco Bell ads... all of that... it was the switch to being a gangster..

This is a great analysis of a controversial career, MC Hammer didn’t do anything controversial, but the criticism was controversial at the time of his releases. I didn’t like his music. I didn’t like his videos. I didn’t like his appearance, but I understood why he was popular and I thought the criticism was excessiveand unnecessary.
