@camboom4467 I think you got it wrong. Qui Gon's case is not as similar to Alpha Trion's. The Jedi Order grow more stagnant because they lived with outdated and old traditions. They may think having emotional attachments and love leads down to a path to the dark side but such Jedis like Cal Kestis and Kanan Jarrus handle things better. Qui Gon understand Anakin's situation because the Chosen One was looking for a father figure and decided to train the boy if the Jedi Council wouldn't allow it. Their refusal to help Anakin in the Clone Wars and slighted him over and over again over his chance to save the ones he loved. I recommend that you see the Clones Wars animated series.

While you could say that, I think Alpha Trion gave D-16 a cog because in his words “no son or daughter of Cybertron is born without a cog.” Sentinel ripped out a key factor of what made D-16 himself. Regardless of how he was acting, he should’ve never been born in the form he was in at the start of the movie.

Brian Tyree Henry absolutely *KILLED IT* as Megatron. A lot of people have fairly criticised how quickly D-16 becomes Megatron and while I do understand said points, I personally thought D-16's downfall made sense when you remember that it showed how D-16 was always the one who had to cover Orion every time he got into trouble for his reckless ambition, like an older big brother and yet when D-16 tries to de-esculate or resolve one of Orion's mistakes both of them are always punished like when he hid Orion from the guards, or when he took the punch for Orion when he stood up to Darkwing despite D-16 apologising on his behalf. D-16 was genuinely happy being a miner, as he believed the system would be more complacent and introverted than Orion's extroverted, go-getter ambition. D-16 felt like he contributed to society, as he looked up to Sentinel and idolised Megatronous Prime as a symbol of power and strength. You can imagine his pent-up resentment and frustration for Orion, always getting him into trouble. Yet, he still forgives Orion since he knows how much cares about him, like when he got their seats at the Iacon 5000 despite not telling him they'd be participating in the race. You can tell that after learning the dark truth about Sentinel's lies, D-16's entire world absolutely shatters as he was happy as this submissive, simple nerdy bot who believed in the system and his friendship with Orion and his admiration for Megatronous were some of the only things that kept him going, but now he sees how truly naive he was as he and his fellow miners worked themselves to death for a leader that murdered their true heroes and sold his own race out their greatest enemy. D-16 clearly feels betrayed and wants vengeance for all the pain, injustice, and death Sentinel has caused. He doubts that exposing the truth isn't enough for someone as powerful as him to be taken down. D wants to believe that there is a better way, but his rage and hate cloud his mind, and despite that rage, you can tell he still values Orion as his best friend, as he is the only person who treats D with genuine respect. He's motivated by a twisted yearning for justice. If anything, he ultimately lacks self-awareness: in his eyes, he is the hero, even though he wasn't the only one who was lied to; Orion, Elita, Bee and all of Iacon were lied to for generations, and many died just all because of Sentinels manipulation. Megatron was justified in his hatred and vengeance against Sentinel but lost sight of what he was fighting for and let his emotions consume him to the point of no return despite how much he knew Orion cared about him as a good friend, but couldn't fathom why he'd risk his life for a scumbag like Sentinel who took away their rights, their hope, their heroes and sold out his own people, even though D has had to sacrifice everything to save Orion. Thus, he mentally snapped and had enough of covering Orion's back, and now D16 was dead, and only Megatron existed. What is truly sad is that Orion wasn't trying to save Sentinel...he was trying to save D-16 from making a terrible mistake, but sadly, D-16 was too far gone, and now only Megatron exists. He can only process it as a personal betrayal on his part because, like I said, it shows D-16 was always there for Orion countless times, all because of his recklessness and ambition and even though D clearly cares about Orion regardless, there's a side of him that still feels frustration and resentment over always getting in trouble because of Orion. When Megatron is finally born, he refuses to allow himself to ever be deceived again to never feel the pain of losing hope in your heroes. Thus, he thinks of those who oppose him, like Elita and Bee; he sees them as followers of Sentinel, perceiving them to be just as blinded by his lies as he once was, which is why he fought back against them, he so fueled by rage and pain that he relinquishes any trust in The Primes or false leaders, believes he can't trust anyone not even his best friend, which is why he destroys monuments to Sentinel and statues of him as he considers Cybertron can genuinely flourish if there are no more Primes to abuse their power, thus when Orion becomes Optimus Prime Megatron is in disbelief of why primus would give Orion the Matrix even though Megatron was the one who killed Sentinel. So all he can do now is see his friend become the thing they fought against a Prime.

As much as the pacing is criticized, I feel like it’s less of a bug and more of a feature. It means that there is no time for Orion or D to properly process the truth, or to talk about it in any way that wouldn’t result in these two bots who had alike beginnings to take completely different routes.

D16/Megatron was probably the best and most developed character in the film. He is mostly only shown as a bloodthirsty monster and supporting character in the Bayverse. But here in this version, we get to see and understand why he is evil. Brian Tyree Henry had the best vocal performance in the movie. This version of Megatron seems highly inspired from villains like Koba and Killmonger. All 3 had deep rooted rivalries against their oppressors but were so blinded in their thirst for vengeance that they "became the very things they swore to destroy."

This version of Megatron is nothing new tho. He was made into this sympathetic character during the early years of the 2000's by the TF IDW comics. They were the ones who actually created his low caste/class D-16 miner bot origins, which both the ALigned continuity, and TF One used in their Megatron backstory. In the IDW comics Megatron/D-16 was the member of the lowest case, who were essentially kept as slaves, and didn't even had proper names (thy were called by their serial numbers, hence Megatron started his life as D-16) He became a gladiator, a revolutionist, and tried to abolsh the caste system, as the champion of the opressed. Too bad he was seduced by his lust for power, and revenge, and unltimetely he became what he fought against,a tyrant.

What are you talking about? Making a more sympathetic Megatron was done all the way back in the IDW comics and the aligned continuity. That is what inspired this movie. Brian Tyree Henry really out did himself with his incredible performance and his deep understanding of Megatron since always wanted to play the villains. Every villain is a hero of his and her own Story in Transformers One. A story that starts with a life as an obedient rule-following model citizen turns into an idealistic leader. And later on, he becomes an authoritarian figure to what will become the Decepticons. D-16 is not only a product of Cybertron’s corrupted system and takes on Sentinel Prime’s oppression though violent means all the social injustices he had experiences forged his transcendence into Megatron and building up to a rivalry with Orion turned Optimus Prime (due to wanting the same goal of a unified Cybertron but have different viewpoints). Even if Orion is willingly to sacrifice himself for restoring the sake of his brother’s morality by being taken by the blast. But their friendship is doomed ever since they discovered that shocking realization their leader Sentinel Prime had sold out Cybertron to the Quintessons after betraying his fellow Prime brothers and sisters, and ruled his planet through oppression. D-16 has put too much faith in the system he has held on to until his worldview was shattered that boils up to anger and a personal vengeance after being suffered of the social injustices while Orion still kept his optimism by exposing the truth of Sentinel's corruption. This what makes D-16 a much more of a compelling hero-turned-villain and tragic character in Transformers history. And the rift between two brothers. Both D-16 and Orion really wanted a unified Cybertron but each have different ways to bringing it into fruition.

My ranking of every 2024 villain I have seen as of now: - 8) Maxime Le Mal - 5/10 Will Ferrel is entertaining but he is barely there in the movie and his motivation for revenge against Gru is because he stole a dance number at a 9th grade talent show. 7) Jinx - 6/10 Her design is cool but her voice feels a bit annoying and she is also pretty generic. 6) Vontra - 7/10 Wild Robot is a masterpiece but Vontra is one of the weaker aspects of the movie but still decent. 5) Proximus Caesar - 7/10 What a letdown villain !! He is barely there in the movie but his charisma makes him a decent villain. 4) Skar King - 9/10 Godzilla X Kong overall is an okay movie for me but Skar King is a great villain. 3) Chameleon - 9/10 🥉 I am a strong defender of Chameleon and Kung Fu Panda 4 and I am glad this channel made a deep analysis of her mindset and backstory. 2) Sentinel Prime - 9/10 🥈 Maybe his twist was predictable but still a pure evil love to hate villain with interesting parallels to Optimus Prime. 1) Megatron - 10/10 🥇 There is no competition for him !! Brian Tyree nailed it with his performance !! His turn to dark might be slightly rushed but still very compelling and heartbreaking.

This film, though awesome, did cut it awfully close with Megs fall to evil In a lot of ways, his fall as we witnessed it does NOT make a lot of sense from a narative course of things. Him letting go of Pax and letting him fall to his daeth, might be the most egregious violation of this natural course. In that moment, it feels like Megs went bad, because the story requires it to happen. This was his best friend and Brother. These 2, Pax and Megs had gone through nowhere near the difficulties between them as say, Rick and Shane from the Walking dead. It wasn't great watching it happen there either, but it did make more narrative sense that this turn for Megs made.

No, D16 was always petty. He was Pitiful and when the “Magnanimous” Sentinel was exposed and could not bestow the pity D16 wanted so badly. Rage and his newfound enlightenment/power exposed his pitiful nature. Now he would decide who would receive pity. His pity. And just like Sentinel, there could be no Magnanimity. No internal strength, only fear of losing, pity, control, dominance, rage, aggression. A newfound will to achieve that self serving, cravenness from one’s own unearned power. Granted because he followed Orion. Because of Orion’s internal strength.

I mean honestly I don't disagree here. Almost all of his actions (excluding when he finally snaps and lets Orion fall to his death) in this movie specifically are justified, as it's not like he does anything outright villainous as much as he mostly does things that rightfully should've been done.. prompting Starscream and his crew stop being so cowardly, killing Sentinel.. It's only later on during his life at Megatron that he starts actually committing unjustifiable and horrible acts.
