Why Michael Bay Cancelled The Transformers Movie Tie-in Comics. If there's 1 thing fans can agree upon its the fact that the Michael Bay Transformers films can be very convoluted. Thankfully the fans had the IDW movie tie-in comics to fall back on. These comic books did an excellent job expanded on things as well as filling in the gaps on things that were clearly missing from the films. They would also feature illustrations that mirrored what was in the movies. Which ultimately became an issue for newer film projects. During the promotional campaign for Dark of the Moon preview pages from IDW's Dark of the Moon comic adaptation were discovered at Amazon. Through some bizarre system error, several dozen pages were made available, which included the major plot twist of Sentinel Prime showing his true colors and killing Ironhide. Michael Bay was infuriated by this leak and order Hasbro to cease production of the comics for later sequels.

Both the comics and the DotM book, which was the original script, were leaked, leading to Bay also changing the ending, where Optimus would actually accept Megatrons truce proposal. This is also why the next movies had little to no tie in media.

@@anthonysalinas-candelero9978 we could've definitely seen something intensely different. Megatrons original plan was to find Cybertron, and rebuild it. We could've seen Megatron maybe have a solo film, stopping Quintessa, only to find Unicron coming in the end scene setting up the 5th movie. The 5th could've been about Megatron contacting Optimus to help before Unicron arrived, and them both trying to stop him, maybe even ending up with them both sacrificing themselves to kill Unicron.

Ratchet and Epps both being killed by Lockdown and his faction. That's why the original logo was the 4/Decepticon insignia in the sand.

Wished that we got like any prequels to the 4th & 5th films. Explaining how Optimus Prime was ambushed by Lockdown & Cemetery Wind. And how Glavatron made contact with Quintessa, and was turned back into Megatron. Luckily some little fan made movies, that were made a group called TRF Productions, were able to explain everything.

I don't blame him. That's a big spoiler so trust is broken. Rather than thinking it'll never happen again. I think the only reason people say they want the comic ending is the assumption that we'd get "real" movies starting in 2014. Even if we didn't get 4&5, I think the DoTM ending we got was better. Megatron declaring the war over because of the circumstances doesn't seem like Megatron to me.

I honestly think this was one of the reasons the later two movies failed, as the comics not only helped connect the movies better but also fleshed out the transformers a lot more than the movies ever did.

Yes, that is fact. The films themselves are decent, none are actually terrible, they're still fun for the action and ok for the story. But yes the comics were a critical part of them, interconnecting the backstory lore and even when new details wre added they went back and managed to work in the new details well, they also made comics that took place between the films and better connected them, even bringing in toyline characters and giving them involvement somehow. The problem with TF 4 and 5 is they added many new details tot he backstory lore but didn't explain what they NEEDED to so we could have chronological placement, they should have then continued with movie comics, either a full reboot of them using the new lore or tred to work the new lore into the existing lore the comics established, at least explain the backstory lore.

Titan comics would be secondary canon to the IDW comics since those often are just random stories where as the IDW comics actually tried to tie intot he plots of the films. But at least the TItan alternate timeline comics are a real gem. Oddly they still fit the lore well despite being made after only the first film. THey even have ironic parralells with the movie plot as we see some Autobots use the Moon as a staging point before arriving on Earth, Cybertron being teleported somewhere, Megtron returning to life with the Allspark's power, himans betray the Autobots. Unicron being around. For Unicron I liek to think Stockade's machine pulled his life force from out of the Earth and into Cybertron, terraforming Primus's body into his own and killing his brother, then headign to Earth to devour his old body to reclaim essential components needed for him to actually transform.
