She was desperately ill at the peak of her fame and struggled with substance abuse amidst the immense pressures placed on her as a young hot actress in Hollywood. Most the time when someone gets sober they gain weight. So you'd all be happier if she were skinny and a drug user. Or be unhappy that she's gained weight and has gotten sober??? That's absolute madness. It's really hard getting sober and especially staying sober. You gain so much weight and it's depressing. You know if you start using again you'll lose that weight. There just isn't a happy medium. That's my personal story I'm not projecting.

As per some interviews of her that I have seen and read, it seems that the work environment wasn't healthy for her so maybe that's why she blocks it out. I agree that the role suited her a lot and it was indeed iconic. Will always love Marissa Cooper - Season 4 of OC is so bland without her in it. Ryan & Marissa are my favourite TV couple too, they were the reason I was drawn to this show back in my teenage years, and I am rewatching it completely now.

@@anubhabhat2128 nah. To this day she doesn’t take any responsibility for her bratty behavior on set. I get that outside of the show, her private life really down ward spiraled, her hanging out with the party girl crowd, also being chased by paparazzi, but I do believe the older cast when they said that the young actors, aka the core four, gotten real bad attitudes from season two forward because the fame got to them, ESPECIALLY Mischa. Heck, she quit the OC because she wanted to pursue a movie career. And she had to spoil her death before the premiere. I don’t believe any of the stuff she now claims that happened ON SET. In today’s society being a victim is more profitable than owning up to your mistakes.

Gayle Bertinelli definitely not fillers because she had the ideal jawline and cheeksbones before she went off the roof with drugs and alcohol. I too think it’s probably all the anti depressants, other drugs, alcohol, smoking etc. she has lived super rough the past 10 years.
