Hello. I had the same problem with 2yrs in OZ before getting pension. Government gives you 26 weeks holiday per year and you can be out of the Country 6 weeks at a time ( actually I did 5 weeks and 5 days so as to not do overstay and start all over again). So 2 mths in OZ then 6 weeks in Thailand, reciprocal, the time goes quick..I live in Pattaya and have access to all sorts of Visa options. Would love to talk with you. I am not an agent.

Good for you both and I totally agree with what you said about Australian governments going bonkers with their rules and power during covid. We left Adelaide in April 2021 (sold everything there) on an OA visa but now we each have the Non O retirement visa with the 800,000 each in a Thai bank. Yes we'll have to go back for the pension for 2 years like you explained. It's worth it for us. We've got about 6 years left until then. We currently live in Cha-am. We're happy as pigs in the warm stuff living in Thailand!

Interesting video. Your guests share what a lot of us wish to do. Unfortunately, a lot of us are in dire straits because of our governments decisions which directly impact most of us financially. It is a shame that the United States has turned into a socialist disaster in only two short years. If i could leave the US for Thailand without any reservations I would. Alas- because of the current financial situation that is impossible. Hopefully someday soon things will change for the better for the good people of America. I don't blame anyone leaving the rat race when you can live the rest of your life in peace and tranquility place like Thailand. I've had to finish work due to disability I have Shuemans on my spine, hearing loss and white finger syndrome on both of my hands due to joining the army and working in heavy industries, which I was always active weighing 95kg going to the gym 6 days a week but nowadays I'm in pain 24/7 and unable to go to my favourite activity gym and walking nowadays I'm walking with a limp these days 😔. My Thai girlfriend of 4 years is getting concerned with my failing health she wants me to retire but I don't have enough in my pension pot to retire and my government says I won't get my government pension until I'm 67 I'm only 58 going on 59 that's why I'm claiming disability but I might have to stay in the UK because of my disability I'm hopeing not I've never claimed anything before so I don't know what the outcome will be.

HBD Joe, Mick is right about Australia is getting screwed by politicians and is going down hill. I’m only 46 but are already looking at getting out in roughly 4 years, but I’ll only do when the boy finishes hs. I’m lucky I’ll probably only get spouse visa at the start, depending on whether I decide to work and get a work permit, if not I plan to work for 3 months in Australia and the rest of my time in Thailand.

You catch a taxi or Grab to the main train station and purchase a train ticket to Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan. To return just do the reverse.

It's a bit rich to claim government disenchantment as a reason to leave a country when Thailand suffered all the same issues Australia did, and the Thai people got way less support. The country has an extremely unstable political history as well. So people need to be honest, people retire here for the economic benefit their western income affords them. And if you can live in a beautiful place cheaply, of course people will do it. As Thailand moves to a higher income economy as they hope to do, let's see how many stay if their money doesn't spread so far. I love Thailand, was married to a Thai for a decade, but to hear westerners whine about how their government did them wrong and that Thailand is so much better. Try being a poor Thai first in a country with some of the highest wealth inequality.

We never really said what disenchanted us with our respective governments 🙂and wouldn't have, so no, not whinging, just stating facts. Sorry if that offends you, but the fact is many of us are tired of more than just the covid lockdowns, and are rejecting the whole woke, government media propaganda and all the other agendas plaguing western society at present. Mick has been traveling here since the 80s and I have been to Thailand before our move as well, the culture, people and food here is what drew us - our government disenfranchisement helped us make the decision to come a few years earlier - but it was always going to be here in the land of smile regardless of the cost of living. Don't disregard the beauty in this country and the draw it has on those of us that have made our dream a reality.

Hello Gift and Joe, thank you for sharing this interesting vlog. Happy and Blessed Birthday to you Joe. You look good for 62! In UK I had to wait until I was 65 to receive my State Pension and become a Senior Citizen, but now that has been increased to 67 I believe. Any way you are still a young man and 13 years younger than me and I still regard myself as middle aged, as I have an Aunt in UK who will be 109 years old in 7 days time! I lived all over the US - born in Florida, raised in Pennsylvania and lived the longest in South Carolina (US Navy vet) but moved from there in 98 to Australia. The family is doing well (considering the state of the union) scattered between PA, DEL and SC and of course, Australia.
