Here's my POV: My office was in Setia Alam, so I moved my house to Setia Alam. Recently I moved my office to Kota Damansara (Im your neighbor now Peter hehehe) and I just paid a rental booking for a house in Kota Damansara; the house is 1.4km away fro my office, less than 5 minutes. Coming from personal experience, one of the myths I believed before moving to seremban was the cost of living will be cheaper here compared to KL. What I found was the food prices here (i.e. hawker/food court) especially in Seremban 2 was actually similar or even more expensive compared to certain areas in KL. Noodles are already RM 8-10 for a bowl and mixed rice is already on par with KL prices.

Definitely more expensive than in KL, not only because it has less competition in Seremban, so they will just mark up the price because you got no choice. Secondly, most the prices for foods in Seremban is not properly monitored and it taste worse than in KL maybe because there are so many choices in KL if one is bad.

More sprawling cities in Seremban. in 20 years' time, the local councils and JKR there will realize they cannot afford to maintain all the wide roads the developers built for, and approved by them. My family recently just moved to Jelebu since August last year to build their retirement home, 40 minutes away to seremban. I underestimated jelebu as now it has lots of convenience such as government health facilities, convenience stores and even surprisingly econsave opening up soon 5 minutes from my place. It even has public transport such as bus with a frequency of 1 hour each that connects directly to KTM seremban so I don’t even have to drive my car to KL whenever I’m meeting up with my KL friends. The air is super fresh and it doesn’t feel hectic at all

I live in Seremban and work in KL. Please do not do it. Please do not listen to unscrupulous KZbinrs / influencers about it being an alternative. On average day you drive 1.5 hours to and 1.75 hours back but when it rains (mostly in the evening) it could take up to 3 hours to get home. Mind u my house is literally walking distance to the toll. When u get home you are very tired and u look forward to weekends to not driving when weekends supposed to be fun day u look forward to going places with family. I know people will say if u stay in Klang and work in KL that would be the same but this distance really takes a toll on you after a while. Sometimes on friday u have to use lekas instead because sungai besi is jammed up, from 60km back now becomes almost 80km . I need to service my car so often that even the workshop auntie feels sorry for me. Toll / petrol is crazy too. last but not least its very risky to travel on PLUS highway daily, plus the fact u are very tired especially in the evening.

As someone who lived in Seremban for the majority of my life, it is no longer practical to work in KL and live in Seremban. The commute itself is a hassle. I was frequent user exiting from Putrajaya to Shah Alam toll before covid. I notice the jam getting crazier. 2018 jams only begin near Saujana Putra exit but it is a moving slow speed jam. But in early 2020, the jams was very stagnant queing all the way till the RNR or before Putrajaya exit from airport. My tiredness began when I cross the Putrajaya bridge and seeing the jammed road I will have to endure. Most likely travellers from Seremban increase drastically Mind that kota warisan have a new township and new exit to add on the congestion once people moving in...goodluck then...Luckily after covid, my company now allow flexible option to enter office. Now I love my job more and enjoy quality life a bit more. Less stress. I live in Kajang, office in Shah Alam. I also now ride bike less than 1 hour to office if need to.

And then 12 years ago I started my career as an insurance consultant, moved back to Seremban to stay with my family. With this career’s flexible nature, I can plan my schedule and driving trips for both Seremban and Klang Valley area (choose the right timing to avoid heavy traffic), and I get quality time with family. I do enjoy the shopping options in KL/PJ, and staying in Seremban is not far from it, with just 1 hour driving, I can enjoy shopping day and cafe hopping, and by end of the day come back to my peaceful sweet home in Seremban.

Pass the toll everyone is speeding like crazy and you can’t drive 120km/h in peace either you’re stuck in the middle lane people driving slow or the fast lane where everyone is F1 champion. Atleast within selangor like Federal Hwy, LDP the speeds are slower. Accident also just minor fender bender but accident on PLUS? It’ll ruin you for atleast 3 months. Now doing that everyday or 3/2 times a week if you have hybrid arrangement- I cannot la. Unless you have family/relatives and is memang already based in Seremban there’s no good compelling reason to live in a different state. 50+km one way leh that’s not near no matter how you put it.
