You're completely spot on! It seems like the vast majority of Hollywood nowadays is way more fixated towards creating 'content' that checks the boxes they want than actually making a legitmately fun and enjoyable film. I legitimately even enjoyed Spice World more than the entirety of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and the MCU (outside of Deadpool 1 & 2, Iron Man 1, and the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy). That's right! That's how much Hollywood has jumped the shark in recent years.... When even freaking Spice World is good compared to the trash you put out, you just know you have gone rock bottom....

It was so much better in the early 2000s when it was all about making good films and TV shows And making the vision of the Director and writer’s Not pander to the lowest common denominator

I feel like the last decade, has been nothing but crap movies. Nothing but crap TV shows. I just tried to watch Avenue 5 from HBO and I can't get through half the first episode because everything seems like it is being written by a 13 year old. The dialogue is that of horse shitttt

Lots of seemingly poor quality material out there across the streaming services. While you have a point about the checkboxes, I think there are enough people who do like and support the content. Those of us who don’t appreciate it as much are just outnumbered now.

The forced minority box ticking is annoying in itself, but I've noticed that they almost always make the minority characters unlikeable. It's like they resent that they have to tick that box, so they make the characters into stereotypes or give them insufferable traits as a middle finger to the people making them do it. If you're going to force that box tick, at least for once make a black character simply exist as a black character without bringing up their race or making a point of it, or a "strong female" with a back story and humble behavior instead of being stern, cocky and in constant competition mode with her male counterparts. Strong doesn't mean being conceited, clenching your jaw muscles and being on top. Strong characters, real or fictional, male, female, racial minorities, LGBT etc, act like normal people with depth and levels, not one dimensional agenda bots.

You had me until the blame representation. The 70s broke ground on representation, but the movies were great. The problem isn't "wokeness" the problem is poor writing, focus on the stock, corporate influence, and a lack of arts in schools. According to you, Alien was bad (which it wasn't), because it had a woman lead, a black man, and other minorities? Oh, wait? The original Alien is a classic. Aliens had a Hispanic butch woman, a black Sargent, and a woman. Yet, it was great.
@patriciawilson9666 Жыл бұрын
In the past representation was or at least seemed to be somewhat organic.Now,representation is shoe horned into everything. In fact it's the sole reason many films or series even get green lit.Entertainment value isn't really even a consideration anymore. Got to make sure they check them boxes right? It's hilarious because it's all so shallow.Hollywood just wants your money buddy.You get that right? All you have to do is pay closer attention to what's currently coming out of Madison Avenue to see that this is true. The real problem with all of this enlightened "representation" is that no matter how many spectra they try to represent somebody's getting left out and they're pissed. Sorry, but wokeness is the problem because it is simply a way for Film and TV to camouflage their true motivations which is to get the most money from the widest possible audience they can.They should just be honest about their greed. If these corporations have to act as though they really care about your feelings in order to get you to spend your money on their crap then so be it..After all they play pretend for a living.How hard can it be?

The problem is that its extremely superficial with the constant diversity shoved into movies now, also back then they didn’t force fed characters to you unlike now where they dumb down certain characters to make the others look good

The reason that all movies and TV suck these days. It’s because there’s too many movie production companies and there’s too many actors that are rookies and have no experience from the programs they are in are all horrible.

"The film industry needs more conglomeration" really is an outlier take on the issue. Especially considering that the media industry is verifiably more conglomerated than ever before.
