Nunca vi um baterista usar as técnicas de Carlton tão perfeitamente. Parabéns.

This has to be probably the best example of Carltons Barrett wicked drum style...ahead of its time...funk and reggae. You have it down bro...do more videos...please.

Hi There, I don't drum but if I did it would be to try and drum like Carlton "Carly" Barrett, I enjoyed this track with you drumming, great job! Azza in Australia.

I loved Carlton's drummin' style, I heard he was into some Spanish salsa type drumming. I also read some where that he played drums on Tosh' EQUAL RIGHTS 1977 album or on some tracks, certainly sounds like his rapid intro drumming style

I played the original track over this video and as usual you sticking is absolutely spot on. Just wanted to know how you do this for every video? Do you score it all out then play it or can you remember all the sticking?

Yeah, i asked Lee Jaffe who was the producer of the album and he said it was Carly.

Its just a single ply white coated evans, im sure remo brand would work. Ive seen Carly use clear black dots, which i would assume were single ply as well.

Hey man, killer playing! What head you using on the 400? Never considered using mine for reggae stuff but you got it spot on here! Peace

How did you get your snare like that sound. Can you tell me what head you use on that snare and how you toned it up. And do you happen to know what kind of cymbals Carlton Barret used.
@rayrawhiti58529 жыл бұрын
Esteban Chin hey Esteban,you can sound like this too,carlton used a ludwig aluminium snare drum,evrything else is all standard,cheers
@rayrawhiti58528 жыл бұрын
+Ben vin chrome got nothing to do with it,its what the snare drum is made of,like i said,aluminium snare tuned up high

Pre 1976 Carlton used Ludwig drums, Ludwig sets came with Supraphonic snare drums. That what i play in the videos, the set is from 73.
@hobokenhi-fi52126 жыл бұрын
Jamaican drummer secret weapon is the Ludwig Acrolite, originally a "student" snare but now highly sought after. Don't matter though, you can make it with anything, create something new! That's what these guys did!!
@leedavila96227 жыл бұрын
Really inspired playing, miles higher than I. May I ask what head you've got on your Supraphonic? Cheers!

Hey, yeah I tightened my snare really tight like you said and it sounds way better. I was wondering, the skin on the bottom part of the snare ripped a little) clear tape part because I tightened it really tight. Is that normal or should I replace it and get a new skin under my snare?
@OneDrop5043 ай бұрын
If it's ripped, get a new one. The bottom doesn't have to be as tight as the top.
@crazykitty-k8w3 ай бұрын
@@OneDrop504 thanks, ya it ripped a little on one end not all the way and it still sounds good. I’ll get get a few of those new ones,thanks again
@crazykitty-k8w3 ай бұрын
@@OneDrop504 so the black dot is the head that goes on the bottom of the snare?
@OneDrop5043 ай бұрын
@@crazykitty-k8w No the top. The bottom is usually just a really thin clear one.
