Wow crazy . I just got back from my trip . I took the 015 2-Door out and luckily , close to home she threw the serpentine belt . The idlers were dry and wobbly ( aftermarket idlers ) and the belt tensioner was wobbly where the hydraulic cylinder bolts to the bracket , the Teflon washer assembly had disintegrated. Do I got a Dorman tensioner , and those heavy duty steel idlers , and put on a Mopar serpentine belt just for good measure and flushed the coolant … runs like a top now thermo opens at around 224 , 226 F . So yeah just did what you did minus the water pump … hopefully that doesn’t go next all the grooved pulleys were smooth including the water pump pulley . Keeping an eye on things though ( as usual and as you should ) !!!

The only thing worse than stripped out threads is a snapped corroded bolt. Ya see Jerry things could always be worse. haha You certainly deserved a cigar and beer after doing that fun job! Hope all is well buddy.

I’ve been eyeing up some Corvettes, when I’ve had enough of the back country I may get a Challenger or a Corvette

I got you to start drinking IPA's and I knew eventually you would come around and become a Corvette owner! Stay away from that Mopar turd!! If you ever have any questions about what to look for in a Vette, you know how to find me. 👍

I hate the drip, drip, and smell of coolant after a pump starts leaking through the weep hole. But it's a stright forward job, and one can save a lot of cost as a DIY. Good Luck!

Nice video, just curious can one change a cambelt or does it need to be done by a pro with special equipment? Did you establish what was the cause of the footwell leak?

Why the shit are a couple of pulleys so expensive up there? Is convenience really that much of a markup?

Apparently so, I just shop when my money is best suited

OMG same bro. 1st time replacing water pump in JK same bolt f’ed up thread. Oh, and broken tab. Water pump # 2 (after some time), my helicoil held, but same broken tab. ZIP tie trick for sure. I am on third water pump, second from OEM. Same issues you had. Just did my tensioner pulley a month ago. How many miles you at with your rig? (Or kilometers for you? I am at about 197,000 miles on my 07 JK. (2 nd engine, second transmission) Thanks for the content, and sharing your adventures.

Did you get charged brokerage fees and duty fees when ordering from the states? Some parts do and some don’t. Shitty when you order a $50 part and a week later get a call saying there is extra charges to get it. 😊
@BackCountryWrenching3 ай бұрын
Depends where you order from and if brokerage fees and duty is included

to answer your question about why the alternator bolts are different sizes? To discourage the guy who might try doing repairs himself! By the way, Dodge and Chrysler are having huge problems selling vehicles because they are expensive and they suck! And anyone who works on them knows it!
