Hey @Sean, go talk to Jamie or Aaron over at Moonshine Harley. HP is what they do. They can get 160+ hp out of a 131" (without a turbo) and can build up to a 149" if you wanted to go that insane.

MHP 131 with +1.5 heads, 66mm intake manifold, ward 550, and MHP pro stock exhaust makes mid 160s for hp and mid 150s for torque. MHP builds 131, 135, 139, and 143 CI M8s. They have built streetable 143s with over 180 hp. Throw in a Star Racing 615 race cam and you may not need a turbo. I highly suggest you look Into them. Moonshine does great work. Most is overkill for what small gains are there past a typical build. No return for the $$$ for most of it. Can get 160 out of a good built 124/128 with no need for case boring, no oversized valve heads ( m8 doesn't need huge valves outside the huge displacement builds). Looking at $20k to build a 175hp m8 vs $10-12K for a 160 hp build. I got about $10k in 157hp 124" and be around $12k if I did bottom end.

What I learned tuning motorcycle engines is. Every speed part both gives and takes away . You gain top end you lose low-end torque you gain low in torque you lose top in you get a strong mid-range you lose both low end and top end power . Very few changes increase across the board . And I also discovered a lot of speed parts that were no better than stock and in some cases not as good . One thing that always caused improvement was making the entire package lighter if it does not break . If you want that Harley to go fast get rid of the barn door on the front put a small close fitting aero fairing on there and get rid of the Wings or speed brakes off the back (bags) . All surfaces facing the wind cost speed has to all surfaces dragging air behind them .

I'm just getting back into riding motorcycle riding. I started off a month ago with a little rebel 250 (yeah it was small) and traded that in for my current bike after only 500 miles on the little rebel. I now have a shadow spirit 750 and I'm very happy with this bike. I could only imagine what a 200hp bike is like lol 😆

I went from a 430 lb 34 hp (KLR-650) bike to a 780 lb 160 hp (K1600 GTL) bike (both stock). The 160 hp beast when I removed the trunk and saddle bags was scary, and definitely high 9 sec capable!

Is has always surprised me how you can get so little power from such a massive displacement motorcycle engine.
@yogeshkanyal19262 жыл бұрын
Its a long stroke motor brother plus it has only 2 cylinders so thats how much you can get out of them....But due to being long stroke it produces much more torque
@stevenhoman22532 жыл бұрын
Why? It's a HD engine. An agricultural engine that has always been old and short of puff. The reason it doesn't brake or corner like a bike should, is it is made for overweight car drivers.
@yogeshkanyal19262 жыл бұрын
@@stevenhoman2253 yes you could say like that , But the main reason it doesn't corner is because of its chasis that much suited for a straight line ...as you can see the new harleys engines have been a stressed memeber of the frame which is much like a trellis frame on sports bikes thats why it corners much more better than old harleys...Old harleys use to keep engine on the frame using rubber mountings thats why the bikes vibrate so much
@stevenhoman22532 жыл бұрын
@@yogeshkanyal1926 Hiya, the cornering issue is largely down to a lack of clearance. The pegs and the pipes and engine touch too easily. I see what your saying though.

Question? Is that cam a turbo cam? Because turbo cams are optimized for boost and have little to no overlap which can actually lower horsepower over the stock cam. That might be your issue right there bud, I'd also try running the bike in 5th gear on the dyno.

You don’t take it to HD for power. Moonshine or Zipper’s Performance puts out power routinely. HD seems to push parts, then gives you a mild build.

The cats in that exhaust and that "elephant snout" intake are killing the power numbers. But, since you're going turbo, both of those go away anyways. I can't wait to see the turbo numbers and the time slips when you get kicked off the track!

I believe its a calculated hp tool that rotates a flywheel in a certain amount of time There are also absorption dynos that use water or electricity with load cells that creates the resistance of the rolling force of the roller thats measured by the load cell that converts the calibrated travel of a potentiometer that give the calculated hp force needed to move the load cell a certain amount Such as a clayton or taylor dyno that i operated during my career
@USARAY19472 жыл бұрын
Calculated HP dynos (DynoJet) usually give higher HP numbers than dynos that actually load the rear wheel.
@KCadbyRacing2 жыл бұрын
Replying on both comments here. This dyno does have load control (eddy brake) but Dynojet (software) doesn't use the load control during normal HP pulls.
@KCadbyRacing2 жыл бұрын
@@USARAY1947 Funny thing about that, it isn't the lack of load that makes Dynojet read higher (I believe it's the software). I have operated five Dynojet dynos, two 200i and three 250i (I recorded over 16,600 run files on them) so I can say with 100% certainty that 1: the 200 (older model) reads as much as 20Hp higher than the 250 and 2: my 250i actually reads HIGHER when I used load control during the pulls (18Hp higher on the last ZX14R I tuned)...
