I bought my 3000 this past winter before knowing the table and bar were discontinued. I am thankful for this update. I saw the original before I purchased, but now I know that I will be building the updated box/table this weekend. Good luck with the humidity question, and by the way, congratulations on all the continued success. You’ve earned it. One last thing: I have a peripheral tremor too, and I also walk like I’m hammered drunk from the same neurological issue that causes my tremors. I applaud you for facing the critics head on in a video years ago. I felt like I was hearing my own experiences when I watched that. Thank you for being so transparent and uncompromising. Keep kicking ass and not giving any F’s about going against the grain when your opinions differ from the masses. I built this a year ago and love it! I also added a set of CBN wheels. Works well in tandem with the MDF buffing compound wheels.

Amazing video! Could you by any chance do a "tolerances" video from an experienced woodworker perspective? I mean how much to leave between doors and drawers, what are the best practices of measuring and cutting and stuff like that.

Thank you for this, James! The WorkSharp cabinet was one of the first KZbins that got me into this awful habit. ;). FYI: The CBN wheels for WorkSharp are awesome! I haven’t used sandpaper or MDF in aaaaages. And the tools seem to get a better edge. The heat dissipation on the large metal plate really is a bonus. Thanks again, James, for all the great videos and entertainment.

I'm glad I bought the Worksharp, based on your recommendation! I'm a professional carpenter and a very amateur woodworker, so I'm using it to restore my beat up carpentry chisels and low-angle block plane which can then be tuned up on the job. It's already paid for itself. So, thanks for another very useful tip😊. However, that bar isn't that great so I'll have to use your idea about adding a platform. I should have thought of that.

Great video. The MK II power sharpening system has a bar and a means to hold any size blade at a specific angle. It works great for maintaining a flat grind on your edge tools.

You didn't discuss using the sharpening port (the chisel platform underneath) for plane irons, but the online listing (Rockler) says it should work for irons up to 2" wide. Any reason to shy away from that?

Woah, flash-back! Just missing the squiggly transitional effect. 🤔 I'd live to get CBN wheels for my sharpening systems. Are they okay/made for wet wheel solutions? I have an older wet wheel polisher that has an off size wheel and would love to replace the worn wheel, but can't even find an alum-ox or ruby wheel for it anywhere (or any other standard grinding wheel medium). I don't have the specs handy at the monent but if memory serves, it has a 1/2 inch drive center and 5 1/4 OD with a width of 2 1/4 when new. Wet bath slow speed electric belt driven grinder/polisher cir. 1950s. Plastic housing, buy I can't even find this machine or anything about it online anywhere.

I did my universal bar with micro adjustment nut. In total it cost me around 4€ instead of 80€ for the original tormek universal bar. Other than that, very interesting video.

I use the side of the Tormek wheel for some flattening tasks. Probably not recommended but it works.

That's recommended by Tormek, and it works. But I find that one task is easier for me on the Worksharp

There is only one downside I discovered with the excellent platform/cabinet you designed and I built from your plans. With the cabinet, it is difficult to see the displayed angle of the worksharp angled tool rest. I have to pull out a dental mirror to see it. Have you a solution or work-around?

I wanted to ask how your hand was doing. Hubby was involved in a motorbike accident and damaged his hand and arm (he was lucky, he could have lost them). Since then, he has struggled with some aspects of DIY, particularly where power tools or vibration are concerned. Do you have any hints or tips, or is “slow and steady wins the race” the best way to be. He gets a mite annoyed at himself. It would be good to hear that he isn’t alone in his struggles, if any of your viewers would like to comment.

After a year my most injured finger was back to about 90 percent. I still can't fully bend it, and it hurts a little bit a lot of the time, but it's much, much better than it was.

The Achilles Heel of the Worksharp, the fundamental flaw of the entire concept, is the fact that the cutting speed - the material removal rate - is faster as you move away from the center of the disk. It's a show-stopper. I too have one that's been collecting dust for years. Other methods are simpler, faster, more accurate, and give better results. Don't get me wrong here - I'm all for using the getting the best possible results from the equipment you have. But if you're just getting started, Worksharp is neither the place to begin, or the place to end up.

I wish I'd have seen this video before my wife bought me a 3000 for xmas. I've tried using it with that inadequate bar that comes with it now but in my opinion without the original table and jig the thing is useless. Major ZERO for Worksharp. I'll be using your plans to try and turn it into a useable tool as I have a lot of old chisels and plane irons to work on. Thanks for this video.
