It depends on the IGL, someone like Saadhak/john is better on initiator/duelist because they have better mechanics than someone like Boaster/FNS

People are different cause I learn and make up lineups and I IGL for my team, not the greatest team but still and it doesn't effect it just practicing but the issue is the fact that he has to both talk it out and to initiate, but zekken might help with that cause he can mid round

Genuinely confused on your take about JohnQT. Initiator is an extremely common role to play as an IGL. FNS popularized Sentinel IGL’ing but that requires a lot of good communication and it doesn’t always lead to the greatest reads on the game.

It's good that he's finally playing initiator because igls always play two roles only, controller and initiator. You can tell he could barely do anything for the team with Cypher besides fragging but now he's playing sova or skye, he can do whatever he wants for the team which is very good.

Not true... He was still doing plenty but he couldn't lurk often which was prb the biggest problem for having a non lurking sentinel. But Zellsis patched that up. He just helped with trading and entering which is still doing something

N4rrate on sentinel makes a lot more sense because he is very good in clutches and most of the times on attack he will also be left in the clutch. Other than that he is mechanically nuts and is willing to learn and improve and will thus prb be excellent at sentinel. Lurking is my only question with him

Being good in a clutch and having good mechanics is bad reasoning to be put on sentinel. You have to know how to properly anchor and lurk which JohnQT/Zellsis know how to do very well so might as well have them do it.

I don't think having Johnqt on initiator is a mistake tbh, what I feel like people don't realize about igl's is how difficult it is to play igl on a lurk role. Just look at FNS, sure it worked for a while but you notice how difficult it became for him lately, same with johnqt last year imo. While learning lineups might not be the best for an IGL, I just think an initiator role works better as an IGL overall. IGL's imo are best playing controller or initiator, and with the addition of Bang playing him on any other controller than Viper just simply won't happen.

Agreed, this was the first reasoning which came to my mind as well. If you remember the 2023 SEN roster with Pancada and Dephh, they were messing around with roles just because they could have Dephh "calling with the pack". I think the same applies here as well, maybe JohnQT would prefer to call with the pack and coordinate with zekken better when entering sites on attack.

Line ups aren't really that hard, you just have to learn the simple ones for the most part ngl. Like I promise you, haven and ascent have some of the easiest lineups known to man.

It’s not that line ups are hard. It’s that you always want to have your IGL focused on being able to read the match, something that can be hard when you’re focusing on the timing, sound queues, or positioning for a lineup. This is especially big when you’re playing on a stage in tournament.

He's been a successful IGL on both M80 and SEN last year while being on viper/sentinel. I don't see the point of this. Also your reasoning for N4rrate being on sentinel feels pretty weak. Being a clutch player doesn't mean you should be on sentinel? I'd rather he be on flash initiator or the agents he's shown to be good at like Fade so that he can play with the pack. He's a duelist at heart at the end of the day. Also LEV should be trying their hardest to secure Aspas so that Demon1 can just go play controller full time. Every map needs a brim/astra/omen so it's not like he will have to flex to anything else.

I mean I guess it depends if you really expect JohnQT to mange everything at a high and constant level. Fragging, igling, A1 support with utility. I’ve seen some pro players mess up their line ups in early 2024. When Skye was meta in 2023, it was actually comical how many times you would see someone get their teammate killed because they flash them by mistake. I’m sure JohnQt will still be great. I guess I might be overreacting since you can still do basic sova darts that don’t require any sophisticated line ups. I would prefer someone who doesn’t have to focus on so many other things so they could really get the most out these agents though. I was watching yfp play over the weekend and it was cool to see them combo utilities to get kills. Early 2024 , we didn’t see much of that in tier 1. At least in the Americas. The fade seize and raze combo felt nonexistent same with other agents too.
