Rick and his group didn't kill 200 people at the satelite outpost lol. I don't think it would really be an outpost at that point unless negan had thousands of people which he doesn't. Eugene estimated that they killed 30 people so I'd say that's more reliable.

Rick attacking the outpost was personal bcuz they did it in order to strike a deal to get supplies from hilltop. And honestly Rick would have tried to get revenge as well though he wouldn't have been as cruel. They wanted to overtake Alexandria for kritz sake.

200 or so people? That's a goant exaggeration it was more like 20 or 30 and they weren't a potential threat they were a definite one. Hilltop said they were extorting them and that they killed a 15 year old kid just to show how serious they were. "they said we needed to understand right off the bat". I get so sick of people talking about the stalite outpost killings as though ricks group is evil for doing that or even close to being on negans levek ethically just because it was in their sleep. Yes killing someone who is asleep makes it sound alot worse but you gotta look at rhe Bigger picture. Also those people sleeping had pictures of smashed heads from negans bat hanging over their beds. Also, like you said, in Neegans flashback episode we see that he loved Lucille (his wife) more then anything. He fought like hell to keep her alive when she had CANCER during the apocalypse. I think losing her turned him into the Neegan we first meet and the end of the show is the arc of him returning back to the person he WAS- protecting his current wife years later and finally understanding the impact of what he did to Glenn. The whole basbeball bat wielding viscious era was a direct cause of losing the true Lucille.

I heard somewhere that the character in the comics was partially inspired by Henry Rollins, which I could totally see, the combination of being imposing whilst charming in a sinister way. Exactly, on top of that i think dead city was written quite poorly, and Negan and Maggie as a duo was such a bad decision after the main show ended. We were already annoyed with their dynamic being drug out in the main show and then to just rinse and repeat it again in a worse written scenario really just ruined their characters a tad and leaves a sore spot for me personally in where the lore of the world and overarching story for Negan and Maggie is heading.

I swear people always look over the fact that he forces women into sex slavery, allows the killing of kids (fishing village), and the fact that he murders people to "get a point across". Do what? I guess that's all fine and dandy if you can sit idly by and watch as an audience member. But, I highly doubt anyone would ever find this guy as "charming" if he existed in real life. I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan's performance, but the guy is hardly redeemable and probably shouldn't have been by our main cast. It seemed like the writers never actually made up their mind during seasons 7 and 8 on how bad he really is.

I never watched a single episode of The walking dead until I saw Negans opening scene on KZbin one day. I remember watching from square one desperate to get to Negans introduction as quick as I could 😂

20:00 i hope this is sarcasm, because at this point both carol and (especially) gabriel are also among *these best* ones since rick disappeared. Either way, personally i find *Rick* to be the best character, because he never lost himself like negan did, and as understandable as it is, it is a sign of weakness. Considering how rick has dealt with at least as much loss as negan, but he adapted to the new world and kept fighting for a better future, instead of turning evil and started ruining & leeching off others. Oh, and im pretty sure anyone with an army like negans could effortlessly make *anyone else* look like a wuss, so thats not really a fair comparison... I also wanna point out when negan leaves maggie for her "death". im sure he did it for the obvious reasons, but like, what if she was alone..shed have to survive on her own either way. And in *her* defense later on, that was a much more intense and risky situation than with negan ngl. Most of us would open the door for sure, but i dont blame her in that situation.

The comics definitely handle most of these scenes better his cold and uncompromising disposition is always horrifying and amazingly badass at the same time him killing alpha he doesnt cry or nothing he kills her takes her head and brings it back. And when he kills brandon he did for a bigger plan to play a perspective game forcing ricks hand to fight the whisperers.

I would say negan's redemption arc is one of the best in fiction, maybe a little bit less good than jaime lannister, theon greyjoy and from what ive heard vegeta (though i haven't watched that show)

2:38 Ricks group killed 200+ saviors before meeting Negan? Where do you get that number from? I always thought 20 maybe even 25. Where hell does 200 come from??

3:02 rewatching this great video and I kinda wanna talk about the negan killing one of the group for 200 of his, Rick and the gang didn't attack first, that was earlier in season six with some saviours attacking Abraham, Sasha and Daryl, negan is not in the right or being generous here, unless you want to argue killing hundreds is more generous then killing thousands, which I guess is technically true, but you're still murdering a guy, it's not a part of a war like with the Alexandrians killing the satellite outpost people, this is killing your slave to make a point, also 10:54 that's kinda the whole point of his arc, he gets reduced to nothing from being everything, the show needs to forget about him for him to continue his character arc, anyway, still a great video

I don’t think it was 200 or so killed by Rick’s group. More like 30-50 at most. At least before the Line up with Glenn. Maybe up to 150-200 after though.

I agree on all accounts. And I believe/hope that dead city was all set up to let negan off the chain. I think that lady wants negan to be the villain he used to be, the one she thinks they need. And he really does not want to. That's what I'm betting. Negan is my number 2 favorite character in media. After Ledgers Joker and before Radio Demon from hazbin hotel.

I do wish his defeat was handled differently. Negan realizing he was wrong and his way of doing things was wong then getting captured the it's done in the comics would have made his redemption a bit more believable. Having him going "oh I still think my way of doing things was correct but I like the cut of this 8 year old's jib so I'm good now." Was a bit jaring

People who defend Negan and the savious haven't watched the show or read the comics, this is mostly because it's been a long time since season 6 and his redemption made people forget who he really was, he was a tyrant dictator even before he met Rick's group.

i hated alpha and loved negan too. i've noticed there aren't many people like this. negans charisma and wit kept me hanging onto the show in times i felt like just cutting it off through boredom and repetitive storylines. he literally keeps the show alive at the moment it was starting to die. alpha annoyed me to a next level degree, about the same annoyance i got from lizzie with her delusional selfish mindset. whenever alpha spoke, she acted in a manner as if she was getting in touch with another, inner power, almost like meditation whenever she spoke.. slow, dragged out sentences, and with a cringey slow-mo head sway while she speaks; it was super annoying. i personally love the southern accent too, but the way the actress of alpha portrayed it was utterly disgusting to my ears. every last syllable of the last word in a sentence was dragged out, like if she said "there will be blood", she would say "there will be bloooooooooood". her pacts survival was unrealistic too, surviving torrential weather & storms all while sleeping in the woods with nothing but a few logs in a circle for people to sit on. the way she arches her shoulders back to push her chest out as she walks, and the obvious forceful hip swing she does as she walks. everything about her is just cringe & antagonising. couldn't wait for her to die, and for her to be killed by the guy who kept life in the show, was amazing. by the way, for those who don't know, negans wife lucille, is JDM's real wife, hilarie burton. so if the scenes feel more real than usual, now you know why.

The way you highlighted Maggie's flaws is a perfect example of Neegan's line "there are no good guys". Basically, almost everyone is in a grey area. Everyone has done things to survive or protect that could be viewed as "evil". It's the nature of humanity. Instead of every person alive grouping up against what is supposed to be the main threat - the undead - people form groups and fight amongst each other. And yes some people are exceptions/ worse then others, the Croat for example, is a sociopath who enjoys torturing and killing people. He is what Lizzie would have become as an adult. But overall- it's all a grey area of how humanity is messy.

I don’t know if Rick slashed Negan’s throat deeply enough for death to occur within minutes. He didn’t hit an artery, or even totally sever the vocal cords, so I can understand a field medic being able to cope with that. That being said it worked on Alpha. 🤷‍♀️ This is a great video! Can’t wait for what else you have coming up.
