I have a bit weird feeling about this video. I think you maybe overthinking it. It seems that you just enjoy the new camera so much that you start really scrutinizing every microscopic aspect. But for a lot of photography enthusiasts all these small differences are very likely not as relevant.
@Tudor_MateescuАй бұрын
Maybe, or I'm making a prophecy 😂 check the latest Fujifilm rumors article www.fujirumors.com/my-biggest-worry-after-the-fujifilm-gfx-eterna-announcement/ Always the lenses were a problem on Fujifilm, and the problem seems to become bigger in the future.

He got GAS and influencer syndrome
@guidon.5413Ай бұрын
I actually think that he finally understands the BS that Fuji owners have been propagating for over a decade. It comes down to the fact that if you want to get actually comparable results, you have to make everything equivalent. That means, you need a lens one stop faster and a lot sharper to get the same subject separation and resolve the higher pixel density (with same pixel count). This whole f/x is f/x no matter the sensor size has been bullshit forever. I never had a problem saying "I don't need the equivalence and I'm okay with the noise" and then using an APS-C sensor. But these days, Fuji cameras are overpriced, underpowered, still have bad AF and just can't really compare to the current generation of 35mm sensor sized cameras. So, really, if you don't want/need the results, fair point, but as soon as you actually start comparing, Fuji has been left in the dust.
@kalistratov_photosАй бұрын
@ most of us have GAS. Me, too. But what the hell is "influencer syndrome"? I assume it's about people who watch. In my opinion, Tudor just transforms his GAS into videos to keep the channel running, and that's fine by me.
@kalistratov_photosАй бұрын
@@guidon.5413 the truth is that Fuji as a system is actually still a very affordable. Especially if you buy your lenses used. You can get lm wr primes in the perfect condition with ultimate image quality for around $600. And when you name a camera like the X-T5 "underpowered", it sounds really weird. Maybe it is underpowered compared to Canon R5m2, but aren't these cameras for different people?

I think the Nikon zf is a tempting camera, however, the lenses other than the ones you mentioned, specially zoom lenses, are big compared to Fujifilm and Sigma lenses for Fujifilm. The Nikon is heavy, compared to the light Fujifilm cameras like XT50. Fujifilm AF needs upgrade for sure but I will pick Fujifilm over Nikon all the time.

ZF is heavy but it's a good heavy 😊. Maybe in the summer I'll start using the xt-5 when the light's good and the weight may matter more.

with the megadapt adapter you can just mount any of the sony compact lens and boom you got yourself a full frame compact set up...
@jamesmlodynia8757Ай бұрын
I purchased the New Megadapt adapter to use a compact Sony prime lens on the Nikon ZF, I tried it on the ZF, ZFc and Z6 MK with the same results, I had the camera in auto focus, when I turned the camera i could see what I was trying to focus on but the camera would not focus , the back screen said the camera was in manual focus even tough I had it in auto, and it would not read the aperture set. I tried several times, checked all the settings and connections with the same results. total bust.
@Tudor_MateescuАй бұрын
I think your megadap has a problem, try to replace it. I used it on Z5 with ok results, on zf I expect better performance.

For me the biggest downside I see is that for Nikon that "retro" design won't be a serious part of what they're doing with the system. It's a tribute to the FE cameras, not a direction. They even tag the "retro" lenses as SE (special edition). But Fuji doesn't copy some old bodies, they create modern-looking cameras with manual controls inspired by classic cameras. And their lenses aren't some tribute to the heritage, but they are actually modern looking lens with the manual aperture controls. This makes the whole fuji system a lot more appealing for someone who likes manual controls.
@Tudor_MateescuАй бұрын
Yes and I can't wait to try a Ttartisan and Sigma lens with aperture rings on ZF 😁

@@Tudor_Mateescu I would probably like to have Nikon lenses. By the way, Nikon had amazing wildlife options, and Fuji's just getting there.
@berndschimpf89Ай бұрын
You're right, the 1.4 lenses are much too big. I swapped them for the 2.0 lenses. That was a disappointment. I'm afraid that an X-Pro4 will also get the 40 megapixel sensor, and that will therefore require the large lenses. The display on the X-T5 is just extremely good. I may well sell the X-T5, because the image quality with the old lenses is no better than with my old X-Pro2. I can live well with the old lenses and they give me a small package, regardless of whether I use the X-T5 or the X-Pro2. I think Fujifilm needs to come up with something new.
@DigiDriftZoneАй бұрын
I agree with you, the f/1.4 lenses on Fuji just do not make sense, you get the same depth of field out of f/2.1 on Full Frame on smaller/lighter/cheaper lenses and because of the larger sensor, you get a cleaner image with more dynamic range and better low light performance. There is literally zero advantage to going with the larger/heavier/more expensive fast APS-C primes.

I have both the Nikon ZF and the Fujifilm XT3, XT5 and XT50, while the Nikon ZF is a well made body it is not with out it's issues, the battery a dual card slot is better on the Fujifilm, NIKON has no option for a wired remote and Fujifilm lens selection is better than the Nikon ZF. The two compact lens have plastic lens mount and no aperture ring, so as far as a total system goes i rather use the Fujifilm, I don't consider the Fujifilm bulky, the switch on the front of the Fujifilm cameras to change focus mode is a nice Fujifilm camera feature, i have a similar set up on many of my Pentax DSLR's.

Fair enough 👍 but let's put things into perspective Fujifilm X-T5 is the best camera for photography from Fujifilm (so my personal scenarios doesn't affect the camera performance - the camera is very good, but for certain PARTICULAR SCENARIOS it may not be ideal - this is true with any camera in the world - this is the ideea of the video).

For walking around and light travel, I have a lot of fun shooting with Zf/40f2. I also have a lot of fun shooting with X-T20/23f2 and E-M1II/17f1.8 as well. They all have different pros and cons, the best IQ of Zf (but a bulkiest and heaviest of all), a stylish look and nice color of X-T20 (but poor and slow AF) and a fast and reliable of E-M1II (but worst IQ). But when I wanted a FF IQ on my X-T20, I got a Sirui 23f1.2 (which is, theorically, an equivalent of 35f1.8 in term of IQ, noise performance and DoF). I have no fun at all. The balance is bad, the whole package is too big for walkaround/travel. It's funny to realize that 'to create FF look on your Fujifilm, you eventually end up making your Fujifilm bigger, heavier and bulkier than the actual FF camera'. My rule of thumb is using any cameras the way they are designed for and don't think too much about the differences. I have Zf/70-200f2.8 for the time when IQ is my first priority, but then I also have E-M1II/35-100f2.8 for more casual, less serious or for the time when mobility is my first priority. I sometimes have my X-T20/17-55f2.8 as a primary camera while also having E-M1II/35-100f2.8 as a secondary camera. The photo from E-M1II may not be as good as the X-T20, but atleast, I can get the shot that I can't get from my X-T20.

@juliette-mansourАй бұрын
Hi Tudor, again - we are on the same track. You have described one of the reason why I was frustrated with Fujifilm for so long. As someone else said below, the most compact option for Zf is the 40mm, 28mm or 26mm. I have found that it's all I need for street photography. You could use the Zf and the 40mm and never have any issues whatsoever except for two minor issues: 1. The flip screen. I WISH the Zf had a tilt screen for my style of street shooting. I see you using the flip screen with your hand and it feels odd to me but I will try that and see. 2. I have small hands so I wish there were a baby Zf option point and shoot. If I had this, it would round out my Nikon collection. I have the Z6iii for wildlife and events, the Zf for street/daily shooting and a smaller version would be dedicated for street. I'd like your thoughts on one thing: I still have my Fujifilm X-E2 and the 35mm f/2, 18-55 ois. These were the only things I kept when I sold all my Fujifilm gear this year. I'm deciding whether to keep it. The 18-55 gives me stabilization but it's awkward and unbalanced. Why not just buy an Olympus older model with a tilt screen - I have several panasonic and olympus lenses - and that way I have stabilization as well as smaller size. My goal is to have one travel set up that will allow me to move around very light for street and landscapes. What would you do? Thanks!
@Tudor_MateescuАй бұрын
When travel I always grab my Olympus or GX9 camera with a super zoom like 18-150mm and the small 17mm f1.8 prime. X-e2 I will keep it with the 35mm f2, a small xpro camera without the xpro3 screen problem.
@druids84Ай бұрын
Nice video, Tudor! Have come to similar conclusions about Fujifilm and also other APS-C cameras - if you want great DoF, you need f1.4 lenses, that end up larger and also often pricier than full frame equivalent f2 lenses. Did you consider going Canon before deciding for Nikon, since Canon also has great package with R8 + 28mm f2.8 pancake..
@Tudor_MateescuАй бұрын
Canon is very good, but because I like the retro style Zf, Nikon was my choice.

Nikon just doesn't have the lens selection that entices me yet. Hopefully in a year or two they will start to introduce more compact version of the lenses with aperture rings like the Sony compact g series. But until they have a 35mm compact with an aperture ring I'll probably be sticking with Fuji.
