@@baltoderpfish9471 well there are several reasons for this, but here is something nobody is paying attention to. The wiiu only sold 13 million consoles but it sold over 100 copies of software...meaning Nintendo made hella profit on the wiiu. Another thing is you had Microsoft and sony come out with a new system a year right after Nintendo did so that somewhat staggered the wiiu sales. Everyone jumped ship, including developers and started paying more attention to those consoles. Nintendo also undersold the wiiu, they didnt want to put all their eggs in that one basket being that they released the switch 5 years later...which is also the normal life cycle of a video game console. Bottom line is no matter the console, Nintendo games sell in bulk. Sony sells all these ps4 consoles, but can barely sell 10 million copies of a game. Oh by the way the wiiu actually had MORE third party support than the switch does, infact its entire first year on the market was all 3rd party.

@@victora1642 Granted the voice chat app is stupid but controls for "baby hands" lmao for starters of any handheld system besides the gpd it has the largest controls the psp,vita,ds etc all have a much smaller control layout and terribly uncomfortable. I'm 6'4 and have ogre sized hands and the switch is the most comfortable handheld I've ever used. The pro controller is modelled after the xbox controller and its unanimously the largest(besides the original Duke XD) most comfortable controller I had too buy an adapter for my ps4 cause the ps4 controller is small and uncomfortable. lastly all consoles are outdated PC hardware so by your logic all consoles are outdated show me a handheld for 300$ that has better specs? only one is the gpd and those cost 900$ and it doesn't come with 2x controllers.

As a 40-something year-old gamer, and a gamer since the 80s, I've pretty much played most if not all the major systems from all companies. One reason Nintendo is dominating now, is there Focus is on fun It's not about how realistic it is, and necessarily having the big best specs on your Hardware, they take it back to making video games fun. And that's what it's all about. Always have been. That's why I love Nintendo. I've had more fun with Mario Odyssey, and Zelda breath of the wild, then I have with 90% of all the realism of the PlayStation.

It's actually nice to see that the 3rd-party support for Nintendo is growing and is keeping on getting better with games like Mortal Kombat 11 and Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered on the horizon and DOOM Eternal coming "soon". And btw, I think the XBOX and Switch controllers are way better than the Dualshock. I found it to be crap😬 and the battery life didn't help much...

I'm glad they did cause I find it too be the most comfortable love my pro and elite controllers had to get an adapter for my ps4 cause I cant stand PS ones they are uncomfortable in my ogre sized hands. so if anything liking the switchs pro controller is just a compliment to xbox.

The difference between nintendo and sony/microsoft is that nintendo is an entertainment brand, whereas sony and microsoft are tech companies with an entertainment branch. Nintendo has been about games from the outset, and its hard to compete with such laser focus. Say what you will about nintendo's business practices, their technology, etc, they have remained consistently forward thinking and have successfully trailblazed for decades by knowing where they can compete and doing it the best. You can beat nintendo in certain areas of tech, but there are so many arenas in entertainment that other businesses cannot compete with, Xbox will N E V E R have a pokemon title.

Nintendo is a rare example of a company who actually watches out for its consumer. Almost every other company in entertainment today - Disney, Universal, EA, Activision - seems to care about fans to a minimal degree, and instead are ultimately driven by a desire to make profits instead of making quality content. Nintendo is not one of them. Pretty much every choice they make, even the bad ones, are based on what they think will be fun for the gamer, not what will make them the most money. Nintendo is something the world just doesn't have enough of.

the switch is being marketed not as a competitor to the Xbone/PS4, but as its own thing, similar to how nintendo has marketed its other handhelds in the past, which generally means that consumers can feel more comfortable in buying a switch when they already have a console/gaming pc, where ps4 owners are significantly less likely to also buy an Xbox and vice versa. smash being fun is a nice plus though

In my opinion nintendo always survived because of a weapon that can only be acquired by age and experience:NOSTALGIA. While sony and microsoft arguably have their old titles that make gamers sigh, nintendo had far more years of old fans who fondly remembered playing their old systems and some not even avid players.

While I do think Nintendo is a huge brand that is very underrated, I don’t think the Nintendo brand and the PlayStation/Xbox brands should be compared as such. The audience sometimes overlap but for a lot are really different. They speak to different types of people and they run really different games. I don’t think these consoles are meant to compete so much as to complement each other. It’s very expensive to purchase let’s say a PS4 and a switch, but if you do you have two very different pieces of entertainment that can satisfy you in different ways. The switch being more based on a fun, more childlike, goofy way of having video game fun whereas PlayStation goes for the more serious, realistically graphic toned type games and entertainment.

Personal experience to nintendo, I fell in love with gameplay and characters! I never felt the need to have a gender based character to represent me to compensate for my political insecurities. Heck I never even thought it was an issue. Games these days try to shove it down your throat causing rift in sjw

Nintendo is a totally different thing, that's why. Not being included in a console war is a very good thing for them, and Nintendo focuses on different things than Sony and Microsoft do. The perfect gaming kit is Pc + Switch + Ps4 (but you can choose Xbox even if i don't recommend it, most of Xbox games are on Pc too). It's a smart thing to have a home console + a Switch due to the fact you can bring your Switch anywhere, while it's just useless to have a Ps4 + Xbox (sorry if you actually do, don't get offended) since they're both too similar

Which is why there is a wider range of ages, from toddlers to senior citizens, that play Nintendo games compared to X-box or PlayStation which only ever caters to the teen - 30 year olds "gamer" market.

The problem with PS and Xbox titles, Western games generally, is just how passive and uninvolved they have become. It seems all the focus goes on everything but the actual gameplay, which itself requires no thought or active engagement. It amounts to you, controlling a character through an interactive movie, instead of a game. That's just not fun, and it ultimately begs the question of, why don't I just watch a movie instead? It's a screwed up and misplaced approach to making games and I think that is why so many PS/XBOX owners are growing fatigued with each new 'game' release. I know I am. I don't want a second rate movie, I want a game! Nintendo seems to understand that people want games, not interactive movies, and as such, there is much more focus on rewarding and innovative gameplay compared to PS/XBOX titles. Yes, in terms of things such as graphics Nintendo falls slightly behind, but in terms of actual gameplay systems, they are light years ahead of PS4/XBOX titles. Saying that though, whilst Nintendo graphics are less realistic, they are far more artful, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, for example. Nintendo titles generally seem to be more artful and creative. Let's not even get started on the game development by corporate focus group, which seems to permeate PS4/XBOX titles. Completely uninspired and wholly lacking in creativity or vision. And, of course, there is also the disgusting and shady business practices, loot boxes etc. To me it's clear that Nintendo is the winner on all the fronts relevant to gaming. I say that as long-term PS owner, whom, will soon be moving to Nintendo after being let down time after time by PS titles. No PS5 for me.
