Some information i would like to share: The author's health problems have gotten a lot a lot better, he went to Brazil to get it treated and he is back in Japan now. I don't think interest is lost either, they just recently sold another line of official merch which would out very quickly, showing the high interest still remains. Hopefully it gets announced this year!

I'm waiting! :D. but I can say madhouse animation in mahouko kouko no rettaisu s2 or something was very weak, their animation in last season of overlord was just ok so maybe they scary to make ngnl s2 but still I will want to see it even if animation will sucks.

Well you all were right in holding onto hope, the author went viral last month on twitter after he asked for a second season, and they even sold some merch and blu rays, so yes season 2 is inevitable, though there is no exact date.

The "it's too old" argument no longer holds water for me. I used to feel the same, but recently many older anime have received continuations out of nowhere after a large time difference. The most obvious of these to me is Devil is a Part-Timer, which is in a very similar boat in terms of time and yet also finally got a second season. However, there IS another point that you did not bring up that I think IS a large factor as to why No Game No Life still doesn't have a second season: The animation studio. No Game No Life was animated by MadHouse, a studio well known for two things: High quality work 90% of the time, and leaving shows to die after one season. One Punch Man, Btoom!!!, Overlord, High School of the Dead, Black Lagoon, Claymore, Alderamin of the Sky, etc. All of these shows are good or better, and many rank as top anime of all time for many people. But, all of these shows have also had massive spans of time where they did not get updates, mostly because Madhouse is too small to do both these and the other longer-running anime they have produced. Some like Overlord eventually got sequels, and when they did, those anime get a LOT of attention from Madhouse, but the others, for one reason or another, are often left out of the loop. I'm not saying this means there is no hope; but this studio absolutely has an MO with this kind of thing and so I won't be optimistic for a sequel until it happens.

So basically when it comes to adopting popular books into an anime, proper communication about the creators road map in releasing books is honestly key while managing hype and interest. Sounds like the ideal time to release books into adaptations is when they have enough to give you at least 2 seasons so that way the writer has a head start to make enough novels for season 3 and 4

Well it's going to require a boatload of money to pay the people animating, storyboard, voice acting, and drawing it. They also have to get people to do it as well. And quite obviously they need "the rights" for it, if and only if, they are going to use/stay faithful to the source material
