Hey Robin, I am on the same boat, I got the lens two days AFTER the launch, yet no camera either. But frankly to correct your comment, not many ambassadors have the new lens/camera either, only a handful of them had, Peter included, but only for two days and very close to launch too, so he kind of rushed it. I think there's some miscommunications somewhere but OMDS has been restructured and the 'channels' we used to communicate is not longer there and there are too many broken links.
@robinwong3 жыл бұрын
Well I counted a dozen or more reviews out there, and some of them got information about 8-25mm PRO a month before launch. I am perfectly fine not getting the products for early review, as you have said and I agreed, things are different now and I can accept that. But I think we all should be informed about newcoming products. How can we do our jobs as ambassadors when people ask us about the new products and our answers are "I don't know?" It reflects poorly on us, as if we aren't doing our jobs, and it reflects poorly on the brand too! I am not asking for the information to come like super early, but maybe few days before launch? Like a press release statement which was usually given to the media before launch! That would have made a whole world of difference.
@Red35Photography3 жыл бұрын
@@robinwong I agreed. I don't even have the spec either! In UK, I am kind of used to not receiving all info... yeah, believe me. I may got the products, but often I had to ask other people outside of Olympus to make my videos better as I simply couldn't get an answer. That's before though, but now, worst, I don't know launch date, product specs no launch statement... etc. All ambassadors should get the same ahead of the announcement, with or without products, we should get the same info as retailers, news agents. I hope OMDS realise it this time and rectify for future launches. But have to say that the worldwide ambassador program is a little.... weird these days. I think they are restructuring again and you may see some people go and new members as the direction of the products have shifted towards wildlife and outdoor.

Robin, you've essentially mastered a genuine and contagious online personality, and you've developed a loyal following via your "realness" and inspirational photography videos. And you did all that with an unpopular camera brand in the US, from Malaysia. If I had to guess, the reason you may have been "forgotten" is because you're naturally, too excitedly, honest. Perhaps it's the other conversations down the road - roadmap questions, camera releases that are just repackaged gimmicks, etc., that are not what JIP want you officially, honestly reacting to. Your willingness to challenge the industry at large, the hype marketing of other KZbinrs, etc., is why your viewers trust you, and also why you might need to be more creative than other KZbinrs with regards to securing your income/product review streams. Keep going and growing dude. Chin up.

Yes, I can understand how hard it can be in lockdown. I still can't believe why they didn't send you a sample of the 8-25 f4 no matter the situation. Excellent video Robin, other you tubers do a similar thing, however, a small thing, perhaps consider adding some colour to your back ground, it all looks very grey and monotone..Mark Denney does a good job on his aesthetics in his video, but thoroughly enjoyed the content.

This was a good video, Robin. Glad to see the jumping spider made for a good muse. They are a favorite subject of mine, as I really like them. If you upgrade your gear in the near future.... I recommend four large drones. You can tie them to a lawn chair & make your escape. :vD Regards!

Thanks Ikon. I can't imagine flying the drones out, crashing them, and have no way to retrieve them though (go out and get fined/arrested).

Hi, Robin your such a great postive force. Have you thought about getting a studio or is that against the restrictions? Get some models and take photos? Sometimes it is okay too just put down your camera for a while. Last year was very depressing too I had a lot of issues with inspiration even when I could actually take photos. I sure did buy a lot new one gear bro. Your photo business is causing depression which I can understand. I suffer from depression. Like in life adapting is the most important. You can try fiver editing photos for people. Selling your photos and videos on stock websites. Online photography courses. You can also make videos about starting up a photography business. Depression wise, check out St John's worth, It has worked wonders for me.

Am shocked by what is going on in Malaysia with lockdown, hard to believe I was there as a tourist just over 2 years ago. I found 3 weeks of our first UK lockdown hard enough let alone the 3-plus months it became, then the second lockdown and now the third that is being extended. We have to learn to live with the virus. It's not good nor is it natural for humans to be cooped up away from social interaction and in a small confined space. Stay strong, Robin, we all sympathise with the situation you are in, which is totally outside of your control.

Thanks Christopher. Yeah the lockdown situation is harsh. Do come visit Malaysia again when all this is over!

Robin, I appreciate your new video and its honest direct approach. I wish you well during your lockdown and hope that it will come to an end soon. Can you get vaccinated? As we were locked down in the US I also found it difficult to pick up my camera during the long dark winter. I tried and probably deleted 1000 clicks. I was separated from my children and grandchildren. But I knew things would get better and they did. I hope you have people in Malaysia to talk to and if not reach out to and we (I) will respond and do what ever we can to help.I am committed to that promise. I have enjoyed your posts on KZbin for a while and enjoy and appreciate your approach. I have been involved with photography since I was a teenager and during my 4 years of engineering school. I have studied at the International Center for Photography (ICP) when I lived in New York. And have sold some photos and did a few weddings. But I have a family and could not make a living as a photographer so I continued my engineering/Science education. Along the way I have taken hundreds of thousands of clicks and eventually produced images that I was happy with and have printed, framed and hung on the wall of my home. I came to Olympus when I started to experience back problems and needed a lighter, smaller solution that would meet my demands for creating images. I bought the OM-D Mi MkII with the 12-100mm lens. I love this lens and have produced some high quality images. I have added the 60mm macro and a few others. I am very happy with my decision and would not have been able to have the same level of flexibility with any other system. I thought by telling you a bit of myself would be of interest since I know something about you and that it may help to make this connection to you in you "miserable room" and know there is a big world out there that connects with you on a regular basis. I wonder if OMD Solutions did not send you the latest gear releases because of the lock down in Malaysia. However, they should have communicated with you one way or the other. This reflects on their image as a new company that of course wants to appeal to the marketplace. For sure, I do not support their lack of communication with you and this encourages some less than positive feelings about their new character. I hope this gets resolved in a positive manner for you. Until your next post, wishing you well and sending all positive energy your way.
