Question:
Why are non-Muslims not allowed in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah?
Answer:
It is true that non-Muslims are not allowed in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, by law. The following points will serve to elucidate the possible reasoning behind such a restriction.
1. All citizens are not permitted in the cantonment area
I am a citizen of India. Yet, I am not permitted to enter certain restricted areas like the cantonment. In every country there are certain areas where a common citizen of that country cannot enter. Only a citizen who is enrolled in the military or those who are connected with the defence of the country are allowed in the cantonment area. Similarly, Islam is a Universal Religion for the entire world and for all human beings. The cantonment areas of Islam are the two holy cites of Makkah and Madinah. Here only those who believe in Islam and are involved in the defence of Islam i.e. the Muslims are allowed.
It would be illogical for a common citizen to object against the restriction on entering a cantonment area. Similarly it is not appropriate for non-Muslims to object against the restriction on non-Muslims against entering Makkah and Madinah.
2. Visa to enter Makkah and Madinah
a. Whenever a person travels to a foreign country he has to first apply for a visa i.e. the permission to enter that country. Every country has its own rules, regulations and requirements for issuing a visa. Unless their criteria are satisfied they will not issue a visa.
b. One of the countries which is very strict in issuing a visa is the United States of America, especially when issuing visas to citizens of the third world. They have several conditions and requirements to be fulfilled before they issue a visa.
c. When I visited Singapore, it was mentioned on their immigration form -- "death to drug traffickers". If I want to visit Singapore I have to abide by the rules. I cannot say that death penalty is a barbaric punishment. Only if I agree with their requirements and conditions will I be permitted to enter the country.
d. The visa -- the primary condition required for any human being to enter Makkah or Madinah is to say withhis lips, La ilaaha illallah Muhammadur Rasoolullah meaning that 'there is no God but Allah and Muhammad (pbuh) is His Messenger'.

On Army Day everyone can visit cantonment zone but with few restrictions. Cantonment zones are there for security purpose. It protects all citizens irrespective of religions. Hence, these zones become very important area and also there are nothing related to faith or entertainment inside these areas which should be demonstrated to everyone always. However, on a specific day anybody can visit these areas. Mecca should not have been compared with these areas, because- 1. Mecca does not ensure protection to all people. 2. Mecca has no such confidential, the disclose of which could bring threat to the security of all people. 3. Mecca is a place of faith and Godly experience. 4. Quran does not tell to ban other religions from entering Mecca.

But keeping this thought aside, The relogious reason to it is that Islam views Makkah as a holy place where any good deed or a sin is magnified into 100,000 times. So, there mustnt be any sort of stray. It is also according to the policies of the K.S.A.

how on earth this is a convincing answer ?... Even when Mohammad (SM) became victorious and returned to Mecca as its sole ruler and nobody had any say against his rulership there were non muslim present there in Mecca....and they were offered forgiveness by Mohammad (SM) himself even though in the past they have tried to murder him several times and did murder his family members ....in fact they were given protection with the tribute of "Zizya"....now days it can be explained as a Saudi diplomacy nothing more than that..Cause come on its already hell of a legal paper work for only muslim to visit there every year at a time..the main Hajj requires only three days of prayer,tawaf,running from safwa to marwa and so on .....but it takes about one month for all people who are supposed to perform the hajj that year to come serially and one month to go serially back to their mother land(at least i have seen this period of required time in my family) .... So its diplomatic and practical decision . And also it should be noted that even for muslims its not that easy to go and perform the hajj even after if you pay the KSA government full money on advance...if you are lucky enough your serial will come on time . So they cant deprive a muslim who has obligation to perform hajj than to let you roam around ... But omrah case is different .But still that have rush too....

Tell me this, you have a house, right ? How many people or who are the peoples that you allow to visit and enter your house ? Only your friends and relatives whome you trust that they will be nice to you and not just come inside your house and occupy the space because your house will have limited space, though Mecca and Medina are BIG but just for an example, will you allow anybody from anywhere to visit your house ? The same applies to Mecca, those who are serious and we know that will not just sit and occupy the space should be present there but as Dr. Zakir Naik said, if you by heart say the Shahada then you can enter No problem. Another reason, The kaaba is made and treated on Islamic Principals so if you do not even believe in the Islam principals and would chant some other thing there which is not permissible in Islam then obviously you shouldn't go there. And Kaaba is not something that we worship, it's not like a temple, it's a place that Our Father Ibrahim AS built and then decorated you can say by Prophet Muhammad SAW and for a specific reason, until you believe in it then whats the use of visiting that place.

Ek baat bataaye, agar koi Muslim temple me jaake Namaaz padhe to kya usee wahan allowed hoga ? Majority of the Hindus or Non Muslims doesn't know about the basics of Islam and when they will enter Mecca they will have their own interpretations of the Kaaba and the kind of Worship Muslims do there and then may end up worshiping the Kaaba itself and do similar things which are Haraam i.e Not Permissible. Why should we allow a non muslim to do something in Mecca which is not permissible in the name of Islam, we do that coz we love them and don't want to hurt Islam and neither the person who might end up worshipping something thats not allowed. Its evident that a non Muslim entering Mecca without any belief and basic knowledge would definitely not Pray Namaaz there, thats for sure. Then what's the point ? It's not just about entering a holy place, it's more about protecting the importance of it and the basics involved. Can't let anybody do it wrong and that's out of concern for the peoples and for the place itself.

Temple Mecca was not built by Prophet Mohammad... but he removed 365 idols and kept only one Khaba which was built some hundreds of years before ... There is nothing inside Khana Khaba....
