Glass beading is a thing of the past when it comes to metal prep and finishing operations. Major differences in surface removal and roughness exist between the two processes. The dust free nature of vapor blasting is far superior when delicate items are being processed and a higher level of detail is needed. Click the link above today to learn more about the next evolution in blasting technology.

Dry or wet you are comparing the grade of media not process I could dry blast and make it high shine better than yours makes no difference wet or dry well all wet dose is keep dust down. Loads of factors in blasting not just because you used water and before they was dry misleading video. Like saying this clear coat is shite because it's painted over 80 grit sanded mettle this one is better look at finishing on this 1 that's painted over 2000 grit very similar comparison

If the part is going to get painted, I'd prefer the matte finish. You'll get better adhesion with it.

You have the option of using Aluminum Oxide in the Wet Blasting process and achieving the Matte Finish for repainting or powder coating, or for those that want to leave it looking as an original equipment piece, you can blast with Glass Bead and create the satin shiny finish of a Brand New part.

Good video, need to educate customers on the dynamics of media blasting. I too share the concern for eroding of stamping dates and or numbers etc., however, I am only a dry-blaster and use Plastic at low PSI, and you can see the numbers and casting information(s) remain after I media blast many items made of aluminum or magnesium. Good info.

@@VaporHoningTechnologies my unit I've built is as good if not better.... It's a front loading cabinet and I can fit a V8 engine in it if I needed to. I've also fitted a turntable as well. I've also constructed a closed loop filter tank as well. It has cost me around $1500aus. I'm guessing the figure you are talking is in American $$? That equates to just shy of $4k Australian. With that amount I can also purchase a 10hp compressor AND have 3 phase power installed to my home/garage for not much more. I use kiwi ingenuity... I make the most of what I've got when I've got it.

That's not a glass bead finish on cast aluminum... it was probably sand blasted (matte finish), not glass bead blasted (semi-gloss finish).

So it was over blasted, with sand before glass. I work in a sandblasting and powder coating shop lol, and our glass beading stuff looks way smoother than that. I know because I've done a lot of it, on some personal projects too. Glass beading can be done well, this is a poor example though.

I call bullshit....this is a bullshit comparison that part was either sand blasted or glass abrasive blasted and not finished with glass bead period.. if your gonna promote vapor honing then do so honestly not dishonestly and let people decide for themselves. don't take a part and blame it on something it wasn't just to make vapor honing look better because you will get called out for it like this.. i get as good or better results glass beading as you can with vapor honing period..anyone who glass beads will know exactly what i'm talking about.

@JoelArseneaultYouTube
@JoelArseneaultYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
If you're pushing glass bead so hard that you are smashing and getting it stuck in your material.... then your pressure is too high and you need to turn it WAY down. Glass bead (or steel shot) does just as good as the wet blasting you showed, is a lot less complicated, less messy and less expensive. To get a good finish on aluminum parts that are really nasty, or painted, first blast with walnut shells at 90-120 PSI to get the real nasty stuff off... then lower your pressure to 50 and finish with beat blasting.

Glass bead does not embed in the surface with Vapor Honing. That is why we say Vapor Honing is gentler than dry.
@JoelArseneaultYouTube
@JoelArseneaultYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
@@VaporHoningTechnologies Glass bead does not embed in the surface when bead blasting if you have your pressure set correctly. Or you could get steel shot, and then you don't even have to be that careful about pressure. I get that there are good things about wet blasting, but your claim that it does not embed when vapor blasting seems like it's trying to get people to think that if you dry blast, you are guaranteed to have glass embedded.
