Nyjah actually didn't win the First ever Olympic Street Skateboarding Finals. How? Pressure, Starting Your own Brand, Too Many Slams, Competition? Let's discuss the possible factors that could have contributed to Nyjah Huston NOT WINNING a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal at the Olympic Games in Men's Street Skateboarding. Nonetheless, still have so much respect for Nyjah Huston and how he has transcended Skateboard Culture. #reaction #nyjah #tokyoolympics #skateboarding #olympicskateboarding #yutohorigome #nyjahhuston

Had to re-upload guys because of copyright issues..But LET'S TALK ABOUT WHY YOU THINK NYJAH LOST! Pressure? Launching Disorder skateboards too close to the Olympics? Knees and too many slams over the years? Is the competition just that good now? Or all of the above??! Thanks and please subscribe!

I live here in Japan and I’m sure the weather played a role. It was in the mid 90’s F (31-32 C) and really humid. I went skating at 6:30 the same morning and it was hot. They were skating in the middle of the day. There were no clouds and the concrete is so fresh and bright. Tough conditions for anyone.

Personally, I really have a bone to pick with that course. Concrete was hella bright, seemed like the ground was a bit rough, the overall layout and design really lacked flow and everyone appeared to struggle with figuring out their runs. The course also wasn’t very dynamic either. I remember the commentators talking about how the judges didn’t want it to be a handrail extravaganza and yet that was pretty much the course. There was even a panel that came off as “course debris” during Sora’s run during prelims! I think California Skateparks let everyone down a bit. This wasn’t their best work and I believe it consequently brought the overall experience down for the competition. Add in the weather/heat, lack of fans, the “odd” vibe that appeared to be present, and the insane amount of pressure…yeah, I completely understand why Nyjah didn’t have the performance he wanted. Tragic turn of events for him…but massive congrats to Yuto for bringing it home for Japan! Hopefully we see Nyjah again in Paris for the 2024 games!

They should've definitely got the X-games involved with this to build the course as well as the way they did the events. Would've been better if the runs were at least 90secs instead of 45secs. It's the first time though maybe in 3 yrs the courses and the runs will be better. No one there seemed to be comfortable out there and played it safe.

Important. By the time the next olympic comes, Nyjah would be 30. At that age, a lot of physical capabilities would be lower. Look at Manny Santiago. Yes Manny shreds and is awesome. But there is only so much a guy aged 30 can do. Almost every legendary skater we knew at any period of time reaches a peak somewhere. Look at Aaron Homoki. Even he admits that he can't really do much of those gravity defying heights as much as he wanted to anymore. Its not just skateboarding. Most athletes peak at around age 2x. When they hit 30, it would be very difficult. Most important is to stay injury free.

I mean I've been skateboarding since 98. I watching skateboarding for like 20 yrs seen so many dudes. Seen so many comps. Nyjah is seriously one of the greatest who ever skated. That said I was getting pretty upset when he kept winning skate league and x games so many times consistently. But I mean some calls were truly questionable like sometimes I thot the judges were being bias and we're FOR nyjah winning or something. But that said the dude puts out some sick skating parts. Like all I wanna say is I am glad Yuto took in a win. Nyjah simply didn't land those tricks that day. It is all good that is what competitions are sometimes you win sometimes you lose. But I kinda felt bad for him only because I was like to myself. Like good I'm glad he lost. But than I was like wait Huston even tho he's won so many times I still gotta be kind to him in my heart. Hey Nyjah will be hungrier next time and destroy the comp. Who knows. All I know is that all these dudes even tho may look like they suck cuz they may not be landing their runs. Honestly, I don't think it was pressure, I think it was just a bad game plan. He wasn't skating with a strategy to rack up points during best trick. he just tried his one best trick over and over and failed to execute it successfully. He could have scored higher if he'd taken a step back and changed things up, done some easier tricks, but he went all or nothing. Like, was he planning on landing that same trick all 4 times? There must have been other tricks he would have done afterwards if he had landed that one trick the first time. I was shocked that he didn't pull his "mess up over and over and then pull a crazy super high scoring trick to win it all on the last attempt" thing that he usually does in SLS. I was expecting him to finally land it on the last attempt. It always seemed like he thrived in that pressure. Did not do it this time around.

I was actually pretty pumped for Jagger. Dude hauls ass so hard and is such a solid skater so it's good to see him take home an Olympic medal! Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw an American medal and it wasn't Nyjah! Blew my mind and actually made the competition way more interesting to me. Still feel bad for Nyjah though. I imagine he'll be back with avengeance for the next games though! Also, as a quick aside but I don't imagine sleeping on those raggedy ass cardboard beds did much for his performance either!

Saying the pressure got to him is kind of bs. Maybe it did maybe it didn’t. You could say that about every skater who didn’t get gold. I think he just didn’t perform at his peak. There’s a million reasons why an athlete doesn’t perform at their peak. Anywhere from the food they ate the night before to just not feeling the flow of things. Baseball players go through slumps and can’t hit the ball for x amount of at bats. Maybe he just hit a small slump.

I think the biggest two reasons is a mix between his Knees getting "old/damaged" and that the competition is getting stronger. Great video tho, i DONT think Nyjah is out from beeing at the top tho, but might "only" win 40% of comps during 2021 ? but Nyjah will probably suprise us as always. GOAT

Nyjah is only human in the end, the Olympic gold medal for him was probably the most important event for him in his life, he'll have so much more mileage by the time the 2024 olympics comes around and he knows that, he's a machine in competitions and i was surprised he didn't even Medal, I'll be honest when i say I wanted Yuto or Kelvin to win but i was actually ultimately disappointed when Nyjah couldn't land the cab flip back lip and didn't place top 3, I'll be pulling for him to win Gold in 2024 ~
