Fortnite is like Theseus' ship (sort of) Epic swaps out an old artstyle for a new one, an old lootpool for a new one, the old animations for new ones, old locker ui for a new one. Sure its technically still the same ship, and theres still parts of the original ship around. But every year now the ship gets a new coat of paint and a bunch of new parts added. We are at the point now where it feels like the ship used to be just a simple wooden boat, but now we are on the titanic. You may enjoy the titanic and sure people complained about the old boat being rickety at times, but the old boat just sailed the sea in a different way, it was a different experience that many sailors miss. I think its good epic is bringing OG back as a permanent mode, those who loved that wooden boat can head out to sea again and those that like the titanic can continue to ride it.

I like og Fortnite more because of its simplicity. The game was simple, there was no bullshit guns that kill you in 1 hit that you don’t even know exist. The game also felt more real, there is no ai bots, ai players or ai bosses, it felt like a pure battle royals that didn’t lie to you with fake ai players. Another is it’s identity, Fortnite back then had its own identity, unlike now where it’s identity is the game with the colabs.

I recently started playing private og servers like ezfn or nova again and I’m literally addicted because the game was just simply better. Better lootpools, better map, better graphics, better movement (especially animations), more fun items that aren’t broken, better sound effects , no collabs ( which is much better) , better art style and overall just a better game that felt like it got much more love from the devs

I've been saying this for years, I have been here since the start, I've loved basically every season of Fortnite, even the ones that I didn't enjoy as much I still had fun with for a little while. My friend's moved on, which sucks, but I loved the game for the game itself. The memories I made with friends were just a bonus, and I hope one day everyone sees that, and we may finally start seeing appreciation for modern Fortnite now that OG is coming back permanently. Same. I played Fortnite since OG, and I still love Fortnite, in fact even more than before. Fortnite never stopped with the Content, every season they release new items, loot, new map etc. They just keep dropping content and imo i always have a blast with the game. I do feel nostalgia for OG Seasons, but the thing is Loving something in the present and feeling nostalgiac for the past shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. as a season 2 chapter 1 player, I don't completely disagree, personally I have enjoyed just about every season, including things like using the mechs and nitro fists, I didnt enjoy getting bombed off the face of the planet or have someone slam me to death with the fist but I have enjoyed the gameplay of most of the seasons. I just haven't enjoyed some of the newer colabs like like random tik tokers in the battle pass the battle pass and having less and less fortnite ip in the item shop with the shop focusing more on the jam-tracks and icon series items, BUT I LIKE THE GAMEPLAY, always have and I dont like how the game as lost some of its original cartoony art style, not saying the game looks bad now it looks better than ever its just a little generic felling. Its just the art and what I think is an over saturation of considerations, The gameplay is amazing even if it is more complex than it use to be and the players are better than before. Finally, another Ch3 glazer that realized that it was peak since day one. I was gonna rant in this comment, but i realized why i loved it so much, my friends. I had a group of friends that i played the game with all the time, and we had a blast. Most of them left during Ch4 S2, which is when I started to not enjoy playing the game. Ultimately, like you said in the vid, the best and most fondly remembered seasons are ones that you enjoy with the people around you. I could never stand to play solos for an extended amount of time, even in og ch1 days.

Saying the game is better because your friends came back is objectively the worst take I’ve ever heard. Your friends didn’t alter the quality of the game, many lonely people agree the first chapter iteration was far superior and is why your friends came back, because the game was better, not the other way around. The modern seasons are far worse because their issues never got fixed. Including: Terrible UI, bots, non optional skill based matchmaking, lame battlepass cosmetics, flatter map, loss of style in graphics, removal of features like merging ect.

This happens often in games, but the WORST offenders are definitely Fortnite and COD, or COD Zombies in particular. I remember the hate BO4 got when it released, now it's 'an underrated gem 🤓☝'. I loved BO4 because I was looking at it through the perspective of 'oh it's new, they're trying stuff out', but the community hated to changes. In fairness, your point about the reason people like OG Fortnite is so true, Chapter 1 (despite being fun) was the weakest chapter content-wise. But that's okay because Epic were just getting their footing. I've only ever hated like 2-3 Fortnite seasons, those being: C2S6, C4S2 and C4S3. Every other season was just either mid or good, with the occasional great in there. People often think 'old thing good new thing bad' and it's a horrible mindset to have, because if you think that way, you never enjoy anything.

I find that people always compare current seasons to previous ones instead of just enjoying them for what they are. No two seasons are ever the same and instead of focusing on what other seasons did better than the current one, try to focus on what the current one does right and what you find fun. Because like it or not you won't enjoy the game if you're constantly dooming on every current season and don''t appreciate anything until it's gone. It's alright to prefer previous seasons over current ones but the second you start comparing them and only focusing on the negatives is when your enjoyment level is likely going to go down. Ever heard the phrase “comparison is the thief of joy”? I also find that when people look back at a season they stop comparing it to others and that's when they see what that season did well.

honestly, as someone who never played Chapter 1, I realize that I got no room to speak on it. But I remember genuinely enjoying Chapter 2 aside from leveling issues, as the story and mystery of Chapter 2 Season 1 is what got me into the game. But off course, now they just put a bunch of rappers and there IS no mystery or exploration feeling, just a hollow sadness. I've heard that this wasn't the Chapter 2 OG, and that would be amazing if it means they could redo it, but I don't have much hope in Epic anymore. After Donald Mustard left, the story of the game has been dying out slowly. People who enjoy the game for the story and mystery like me are gonna have to find something else, or MAKE something else if we can.

My biggest issue with chapter 5 was just way too much changed. The new graphics killed the game’s art style, the bullet drop on weapons was infuriating, and the attachments, while cool at first, became annoying to manage and remove because they couldn’t be found on the map, and the loot pool (more often than not the collab stuff) were ridiculously overpowered and not fun to go up against. I’m not necessarily saying the OG seasons were better, I actually think chapter 2 was my favorite, but I do genuinely think the newer chapters just got too “cash grabby” and built around bringing IPs to the game to get people to buy it rather than actually have fun interesting original content

I didn't even play in chapter one, but still got hyped for the OG season. I remember how calm and happy I felt, while being driven around in a caddy. Every chapter has it's benefits, but the reason I like the older chapters (1 to 3) is because of the more cartoony style and the simpler, but better weapons. The new weapons just lack something. I don't know what. I also liked the old story. It was more "fortnitey"🤓 to me. I still enjoy playing the game though. It just lacks something from the older chapters.

You basically just said your opinion and stated it as fact. Telling someone they didn't like season 7 doesn't make it true, I loved it. And I don't have to like every part of Chapter 1, because I'm not nostalgic for chapter one. I'm nostalgic for specific seasons that kept it simple, AKA: 1-3, 5, and 7. That's great that you like the new seasons. That doesn't make them good. Fortnite betrayed its own art direction, sold out to massive companies and made its gameplay loop far too complicated and cluttered the map with garbage. And yes, the Chapter 1 map was the best. All good maps are iconic, because how good they are is what makes them iconic. And yeah, when the OG season came around, I played with my friends, but I also played solo and realized that the game is legitimately just better when they stick to the original formula. OG Fortnite was objectively better, because it was something special. And now everyday I watch this amazing game become more and more generic and overcomplicated. Hell, I even played the season after the OG one on my Xbox, for old times sake. I kept an open mind, and after 5 games I realized that it was awful. Augments, boring and unremarkable weapons, trains that have no real purpose other than looking cool, and boring drop locations.

With the newer seasons I feel it gets too repetitive. It honestly gets boring a lot faster than the old seasons. Especially in chapter 5. You’d either go to a dark forest, desert or normal terrain and nothing would be interesting. You drove around and saw random buildings get pushed by a team, lose or drive away again. It felt like there was no heart. I think the biggest problem is the way it looks. Having the different biomes in chapter 4 was interesting at first and then it got too cluttered with the rain forest. The first seasons of chapter 3 felt pretty engaging and then it lost the mark. I’m not really fond of chapter 2 either but that was because my friends and I lost interest in the game. Of course I’m looking at it with rose tinted glasses but playing og fortnite was the first time since ch3 s1 where i actually had fun and you could goof around.

No matter what Epic does, good or bad, the player base always finds a way to nitpick and complain. It’s like a cycle at this point, there hasn’t been a single season where some vocal minority hasn’t whined about every minor change. And let’s be real, even if they brought back the game EXACTLY as it was in the so-called 'prime era,' people would still find something to be unhappy about. Instead of just moving forward and appreciating what the game is now, we're stuck in this endless loop of only appreciating things when they're gone. Guess that's just how it’s always going to be. Chapter 5 is boring and I can say that because I've played Fortnite since 2017. I didn't like the map from chapter 5 because It's too boring, at first chapter 5 had a beautiful map, but too realistic, and then the Greek Mitology Gods appeared with new biomes and then the wasteland... It became boring because of that. It's a good thing that they brought the chapter 2 map back, I do like how beautiful Fortnite is, how cartoonished the maps were, but chapter 5 was too way realistic, the bullet physics were also realistic, even the chapter 4 was better than chapter 5, chapter 4 was too colorful and beautiful. Making Fortnite way too realistic with the graphics makes the game lose It's colors. I do prefer Fortnite without the bullet physics that chapter 5 included, and It's also better not to make Fortnite realistic as possible with the graphics, It's better not to mess with that, since the game is already better than it is. I like all the maps, but chapter 5 was the one that made me feel bored to play.

Here are my honest opinions about Fortnite and the future of Fortnite: If they want to fix fornite, they have to stop bombarding the game by adding so much stuff that makes everything super compact and most importantly drifted off from the core game. Back in 2017-2020, everything used to be super simple, the UI, the Lootpool/Weapons/Items, the Map, the Sound, the Gameplay, the Graphics, the way you play the game, etc. But nevertheless, Fortnite will never be the same like how it was 5 years ago. Epic Games drifted Fortnite so much from its core and all the Competitive players and Sweats basically ruin the experience overall. Back in the old days, it used to be a casual game and even a horror game. Im not saying it’s bad at all. I myself also like to sometime play a bit competitive but all Im saying that going back to the TRUE old OG days will just never happen. But that doesn’t mean that Epic Games can’t fix Fortnite. By simply balancing out the overall mechs and not drifting away too much and keeping the game to its core, the Game can stay Strong. I do love the fact that Epic Games releases alot of new Seasons/Chapters and cool features that give some Hype for a while, and especially a Permanent OG game mode for the People that want to have a simple game mode and a bit of flashbacks, but it will come to a point where it’s all a bit too much. So please Epic Games, while all that is super cool, just keep it to its Core a bit. Thanks.

The actual problem with the game is that it has a community that doesn't know what they want, and Epic listen to this people, so they're working based on the opinions and when the community gets what they want, they hate. Just like "Marvel Rivals? There's already so much marvel skins" just after saying that peak fortnite was C2S4 (an obvious promotion to that bad Avengers game) and Epic maked the last marvel season. Now "Why is Ice Spice on Fortnite?" Bruh there's already so much collabs, there's no identity in the game rn. And the problems are ON THE GAME. Not in the things that the game sells. When I was a younger lad I started playing Fortnite in chapter 1 season 6 and I loved it to be fair it was my first ever time playing Fortnite but I was in love but when chapter 2 released I was super excited for the new map and me and my brother genuinely did enjoy the map I loved dropping Sweaty Sands because I thought people wouldn’t land their because of the name, but now that I’m older I haven’t really enjoyed Fortnite as much because it’s just not a game for me anymore don’t get me wrong I don’t think it’s a terrible game because let’s be honest it’s not but for me it’s just not my type of game anymore I just don’t enjoy it as much as I used to because I was a kid back then.

NGL I am not a big fan of CH1 fortnite and it's the absolute weakest in every aspect to me the only thing I like is that my favorite character came season 7 and that it was a solid base but I VASTLY prefer modern fortnite but for me CH2 season 4 on is when it got good for me and I actually really loved CH5 and CH3 is honestly my favorite map and I love the weather and physic elements plus the reality tree is my favorite poi and for the record I got into the game with CH1 so I should be nostalgic but it's my absolute least favorite and I'll only play the og mode if they bring back old passes otherwise I'm not touching it

I started in Chapter 4 season 1 and after YEARS of trashing fort and calling it cringe I decided to give it a try and realizing I was wrong all those years and truly enjoyed my time during chapter 4 and when it came to the day I was leaving it behind I was a little sad but also happy to have gotten to play the old map and seeing alot of my old friends playing again,as I was happy to be able to see what alot of older players had and it felt like I had gotten to be apart of that. Hopefully Chapter 6 turns out very nice and onward from there. (Also I hope to revisit chapter 4 again someday purely just to see it again along with other players.)

Prepare for a big yap session: The way we identify Fortnite even to newer players is that look of the game, the feeling of the game we got back in chapter 1 seasons 1-4. Every update passed that theyve strayed farther from that feel gameplay wise and looks wise. for example: I think that if ch2 just reused old save the world assets and guns, made a map out of that where the map design and art direction RESEMBLED ch1 ssns 1-4, Well I think it would have simply been way more successful. What ended up happening is that they brought in a whole new group of players that enjoyed the game for SIMILAR but different reasons. Every time a new season comes out this cycle happens and the community gets more and more muddled. NOT SAYING THIS IS BAD, ITS JUST WHAT IVE OBSERVED THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. HERES THE REAL TRUTH I THINK. The reason why people complain about the new stuff and want to go back to the old stuff is because whenever Epic games makes a new season or chapter they instead of IMPROVING upon the former, unnecessarily SHIFT the feel of the game in some way to where it will disorient the player. Its kind of like VHS generational loss, the more you tape over it the more fucked up the VHS will become until the original video just isn't recognizable. So I think its a bit daft to say that hey "because its newer, its more likely to be hated", No chapter 5 is just really that much different from home base. And yeah people will say the previous chapter wasn't that bad because they are sheep and quite frankly, don't know what they want from the game. And that's fine, just know that a lot of people really haven't thought too deeply about it. Again to reiterate, I agree that ch1 wasn't this insane video game with insane gameplay. Like you mentioned there were a ton of issues. BUT what it actually is, is the HOME BASE, the start, the pinnacle of what a lot of people identify with whenever they think of the word Fortnite, which is why I think Epic games' direction with the updates throughout the years was a mistake, and why I still think like I mentioned in the paragraph above, should try to update the game to resemble that old feeling we had all those years ago. I've already moved on from my anger stages back in chapter 2 where I so desperately wanted the game to be like chapter 1 season 3-4. But I do still ponder about what this game could have been. Maybe my ideas are shitty ill admit but I still wonder.

I am excited for Chapter 1, I really loved the old graphics and the simplicity but, people don't really understand that it will NEVER feel EXACTLY the same, because people have gotten better at the game overall, back then, very few people knew how to build, so the fights were very different, but today, almost everyone knows how to built, even if it's just a little bit, and that little bit is still miles above what any of us were able to do back in the day, however, we can't say anything for sure until we see for ourselves, let's just wait for Chapter 1 to drop, and then we can see if it still feels the same or not, but nonetheless, I am sure people are going to enjoy it a lot, will it feel 100% the same as it did back in the day? Not likely, but even if it comes just close enough to capturing that feeling, I am 100% sold on it, and I'm sure that I, and many of us will pour many hours into Chapter 1 again

personally i appreciate every chapter and i personally love every chapter in one way or another, chapter 1 for it’s simplicity and graphics, chapter 2 (my fav chapter) for its new mechanics, story and the loot pools. chapter 3 the winterfest, the spider-man mythics, the hype and the introduction too ZB. chapter 4 for its graphics, hammer, the map in season 1 was brilliant, augments and the winterfest. and lastly chapter 5 for yet again it’s winterfest, the map changes, the weapon attachments and the 3 new game modes. and i agree with everything u said abt how ppl will hate on a chapter and then end up loving it. personally i have done the same i hated chapter 4 bc of season 2 and 4 but ended up liking them towards the end. but now i think it’s the 2nd best chapter, and not bc i listened to some ppl on twitter or anything but bc i saw how bad chapter 5 was and now appreciate what we had in chapter 4.

I had fun with chapter 5 but I got bored of the map super quickly. The underworld, mount olympus, and wastland were cool at first but they were ridiculously empty. The doom locations were pretty good tho. The gameplay was pretty damn good too. I'll always prefer hitscan weapons but projectile weapons weren't that bad. I think chapter 2 was my overall favorite but it wasnt perfect and I dont hate on other chapters because I liked it
