You choose to buy one watch, not to buy another. But why? We explore you psyche here.

I remember in my teens seeing someone wearing a Seiko SKX007 in a movie that I don't even remember now. I couldn't afford one back then (the 90's) and they're ridiculously overpriced now, but it always stuck in my mind as being so cool looking and solidly made, so these days I love buying the much cheaper homage SKX's and Seiko SKX Mods, and lucky for me there are masses of them out there.

There is a train of thought that goes like this...people wantbto feel superior to others; because you have better taste, have more money, handle your money more responsibly...etc , you get the idea.

We buy the watches because the modem western culture is centred around self gratifying, predominately material pleasure. It is void of meaning, purpose and ethics. The new shiny object very temporarily and falsely squeezes a drop of something into that deep vast emptiness within. I don't like a watch that tries to do too much (smart watch is the extreme example although I don't really consider them watches but of course I'm going on a parenthetical tangent here). For me,it has to be simple, sleek,and modern. I'm not into Roman numerals. To sum it up it's purely aesthetic. Some fret over movements and internal complexity. Not me. All I need really is quartz accuracy and a cool look.
