Personally i find it a little cringe reading single japanese words in subtitles. Especially nakama which may have a special meaning to some fans but isnt even a title or something. Tho i prefer the translation 7 warlords over shichibukai (probably also for communication). But then again this is more of a preference. I know the meaning of it all so i dont bother. If i could chose i would pick "the official" probably. Put it in quotes since the subs of my language are superior to the english subs imo since there are f.e. slangy translations for honorifics and stuff like chan san sama etc. Which may give it that desired upgrade people praise about fan subs😅 But then again, its just subs. Im there for the voices and emotions. The subtitles are -while being essential for understanding- kinda unimportant in that regard to me

@@garri5108 i did always get from context when luffy was talking about his comrades that he held special. Dont need a word for it that seems out of place in the flow of a language. If youd go by that you wont ever get everything that the japanese dub contains. Untranslatable grammar for example... But even those arent that important to me to the point where i wpuld want random japanese words in a sentence that id need to figure our by context. Especially cause i know that most other people are not familiar with the japanese language so they will have an even harder time.

Well let's say that it's not big difference, I would not complain about official subs as well as fan made. As long as it's not: "[Nami] *Heavily breathing"' I'm ok

For me the sub version is better and you will see soon enough why ( episode 37 for exemple, the voice actor of nami for the : "Luffy, help me is just incredible and the of course of luffy is also legendary !) (the voice actor of one piece are just insane ! 20 years that they do their best and it's just amazing !)

@@royalfun1031 not that long, it’s just for a thousand episode anime that I’ve only watched once (other than iconic scenes like this one), I don’t think I can remember every subtitle. That said, the subtitles on the iconic scenes were pretty much similar to the original ones, which may be why I haven’t noticed. *This is my first time rewatching the series, glad it was with lucky 🍀

Especially in earlier OP, the fan subs are perfect, they keep the "intention" of a lot of scenes by using some harsher words (damn, etc.) which really gives it some authenticity. In the later stuff, fan subs are not really needed anymore (the official gets way better), and are actually often detrimental because an entire theory for how the story ends can hinge on the intended meaning of a single phrase, so you _really_ want that "official meaning," though fansubs are still useful for alternate interpretations. Love that you're using the OG fan subs!

The only issue I have with fansubs is the unnecessary cursing. Not all are like that but some try to make it unnecessary edgy. The Bleach fansubs from a few months ago were fine except for the part where Kenny said he was going to rape Soi-fon's corpse. WTF!? Other parts is why did Kain Highwind called Rosa a whore? The whole reason he got easily possessed because he's in love with her but he's the third wheel. Then you got the Ninja Turtles OVAs. Like why is the most innocent versions of TMNT are cursing like sailors?

I'm not the biggest fan of the fan subs because of those mistranslated English-esque words, as I personally find that really jarring. I also think that some characters lose some of their personality with them, with my biggest gripe being what was done with Mihawk, because the official subs make him sound more "dignified" (speaking of which, was reaction to episode 24 taken down?) However, that is my *opinion*, and I have no complaints about you doing the subs you like better.

Dub are not bad, but it's nowhere near to original. One piece seiu spend years mastering voice acting craft, no one except Japanese can transfer so much emotions trought the voice, don't ever change to dub.

The reason i prefer and enjoy sub over dub is just because i find it more fun and satisfying hearing the Japanese, because they just sound so natural then dub, and i don't care about subtitles that much,i am good with every subtitles you go with
