Ive been using black marker paint as a mop refill for a bit, and i honestly have nothing bad to say about it. It has that consistency where you can still get smooth, clean writes without much squeeze, and get drips to the floor when you squeeze heavy. I tried it out in a pump marker as well, but i think ill just stick to ink in pump markers, paint will just never be as buttery and smooth as ink in a pump marker. I’d suggest using OTR. 901 white as a base for the mops like 25% 901 (white) and 75% 902 (whatever color). As for markers 902 is great, add whatever amount of 901 to make you formula more thick. If you’re using OTR .007 or .006 GET EXTRA NIBS simple. Utilize .902 how you want. Have an understanding of how pigments effect performance. Nothing is truly buff proof enough time, money, n chemicals, buffman gonna get it gone.

Can someone please help me . I’m looking for this marker I bought in the mid 2000s from OTR. It was a large solid type crayon maybe pastel marker , came in black . It had a twist bottom like the solid markers . The twist function on the bottom was orange

Being from Canada too, I just wanted to put my two cents in here. Weatherproof? Bullshit. I've had three tags running for a while with their silver and after about a month they started getting faded, fast forward till right now, those three tags are now speckled and almost gone! Sure it could be from the snow, but they are all high up, so no snow melting salt/chemicals could've been deteriorating it. I have tags with acrylic paint running from summer '21. All I'm trying to say is this stuff sucks, even the black soultip doesn't hold up to UV lol fucking disappointing

Yeah it's hard to find xylene stuff nowadays so it's a miracle they're still making it like that. It's something I'm hoping to try out in tje future for sure

Hard to explain in a comment but I do have a couple videos showing how I've made a couple. I'll at least link them here if you wanted to check em out. Idk my grog cutter 15mm have the valve than doesn't get "stuck" when i push it down and its like it can come off very easy and im just not gonna use it bcs im sure it will leak. Have u ever had this problem?

You mean you can pull the nib out fairly easily without having to open anything? thats normal, its made so you can change the nibs fairly quickly and yes it does leak a bit but it wont alot.

I haven't personally but I have heard a few people talk about various problems either their cutters. I think it's a good marker when it works, but WHEN is the key word there. It seems to be fragile in terms of the functionality

@@merel101 no I'm talking about the valve, that piece of plastic that u have to remove for filling the marker, the input its like very soft and it dosnt get stuck good, so if i shake the marker or turn it upside down im sure it will just come out and the marker will leak

@@gioele2699 Its probably that something has clogged the valve and now its constantly in flow and the valve systems do come off actually easily, i have a 15mm grog on my own and i can say that it comes off easily but it doesnt leak that much

There is a not very dense foam part which surrounds the chisel tip too. That can get manipulated into the wrong position fairly easily which causes a lot of dripping

Might be worth getting for me, especially since it's in a 100ml bottle... usually use either Golden High-Flow or some sketchy homemade cocktail of thinned acrylic paint in my pump markers but it's annoying how slow the water-based stuff dries and how easy it is to remove, not even BUFF but just that it never really bonds that well... Granted, I have my Uni filled up with Rusto enamel thinned with Xylol and the guts of approximately one red bic pen cartridge for color and that works pretty well in the metal-body ones, but Xylol's getting harder to find these days so an alcohol paint's probably not a bad idea even for those ones

That is one crazy sounding mix for that uni! And yeah, the true age of permanence really does seem to be on it's way out with xylene becoming harder to find...sigh

@@ScizGraffiti Yeah, some day we're probably gonna have to resort to spraying out cans of spraypaint into a cup and pouring it into markers to get xylene-based marker inks... at least Rusto sprays are still xylene solvent-based for now, although some of their stuff is going to alcohol too (like the Imagine cans with the really fun colors and female valves, was very disappointed when I smelled that...)

soul tips are a waste, they break so easy man. theyre good for nice surfaces but otherwise they dont last. even on those places that get buffed everyday that shit wont last long. better off getting a sharpie 5ml oil paint than soul tips. almost like the grog cutter that goes hard, go figure.

I've used the soultips for years. The nibs are not great at all, that's for sure. But the mops themselves are super squeezable and controllable which is the main reason I like the 007s. it's all personal preference of course

I've tested too much stuff on here to agree. Once I put out the short of buffing the ball pen fluid that I've got filmed you might change your mind
