Thanks for your video. I have been pondering to move from the GTA to Ottawa, being an immigrant myself approaching 3yrs in and out of the country, I am thinking this is a good place to settle down. GTA real estate is crazy expensive, I dare say ridiculous, crazy and sad.
@TineInCanada3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you were right. It’s so impossible to purchase a property in GTA nowadays. Even in Ottawa, house prices got higher during this pandemic. Crazy. You should check the market now before it’s gets crazier here. Goodluck with your move!

Hello there . So I was thinking about Canada for a while now . I’m from Romania (Europe) and I was very confused about the life in North America . In Europe it’s difficult bc I speak only English and UK is very expensive for everyone to live in . And I was thinking about Canada . My question is how can I get there and how long will it take me to get the visa if the country has one? And how to get there when u have nobody there ? That’s my question . I’m a bit scared bc im just 20 yrs old and idk what to do ...
@TineInCanada4 жыл бұрын
Since you’re young, student visa might be the best option for you. Try to check the immigration website and you’ll find out how to get here as a student. Good luck!

@TineInCanada4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s a good idea, I’ve met a lot of students here in Ottawa and they love being here. Vancouver always attracts a lot of students but the cost of living is very expensive so some opt for Ottawa to study.

Hello, Thank you for the video ! The only thing that keeps me awake at night is how will I find a Job in Ottawa. I am a perfect bilingual and i have experience of more than 15 years working in different regions of the world. Does it take a lot of time to find a decent job in Ottawa ? How salaries look like ? for a family of 5 including two childs and an infant how much is needed on a monthly basis ? Thanks in advance !
@TineInCanada4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I would recommend you to watch the recent episode which talks about the monthly expense here in Canada. It would give you an idea of how much you should earn in order to survive and start your new life here with your family. Being a bilingual is a great advantage here in Ottawa, you can even land a goverment job. My husband is a bilingual and it took him 3months before landing a job. It really depends on the kind of jobs you were looking for. Nevertheless, if you’re open to any job opportunities and very determined then you’ll be okay too. Due to the pandemic, it’s also understandable that finding jobs would be a bit tough nowadays. Goodluck with your plans. I’ll make sure to create more helpful videos about job searching here in Canada.

Is french is required for legal profession and for PR?
@TineInCanada4 жыл бұрын
I think so but it depends of legal profession, if it’s a law clerk role then I don’t think you have to be bilingual. Not so sure but you could check the vacancy requirements, they would usually inform the applicant if bilingualism is a main requirement.

What about living in Montreal? Which would be more cheap, Montreal or Ottawa?. Thank youu :)
@TineInCanada4 жыл бұрын
Based from my understanding, since Montreal is under Quebec province, it would have different set of rules. I have a previous colleague from Montreal and I’ve learned that daycare is way cheaper compared than in Ottawa. This could be an advantage for young families. However, keep in mind that it’s a french speaking province, it’s more beneficial to stay there for french speakers or bilingual. Housing is also more affordable compared here in Ottawa. You may stay in Gatineau area if you wish to work in Ottawa since it’s very close to downtown.

Thanks for your comment. Check out my interview with the realtor to find more details about the housing market in Ottawa. Compared to Toronto, Ottawa still offers better housing rate. Bought my home less than 500k here in Ottawa, not bad at all. If only the winter here isn’t too cold then Ottawa is almost perfect!

Thanks for your support on my channel. Honestly, opportunities for newcomers always comes with a stroke of luck and hardwork. I’ve spent my 10 yrs in marketing before coming to Canada but I’ve explored other options since I feel trying something new and out of my comfort zone. Luckily, I was able to find my other core and happy to pursue a new career when I moved here. You could try to explore Marketing here then try also to think of plan b if things won’t work out as you planned. Canada has plenty of opportunities for newcomers, you just have to work hard for it and eventually you’ll find your happy place.
