Totally agreed- Cayman is the "best" car of the 3 and I actually like the 3.4 flat 6 sound more than a busso (as a 981S driver I may be biased, but then that is also why I bought it...the gargle as it goes past 2.5k RPM is incredible). However, the Alfa is more interesting for KZbin, little bit crazier. Also the busso sound definitely seems easier to pick up with a mic for some reason, the Cayman never sounds good in videos I think because they tune the sound to be good right where your ears are whereas the Alfa just sounds good from anywhere.

I know you like your steering feel and the S1 has the best of any car, you can also feel the lightness everywhere. You must have one once, you wont lose money and you will enjoy every second. I dailyed one of mine for 10 months and 12k miles no problems, commuted into central London everyday. You do need Nitrons for the Rolls Royce ride quality though....

147 Alfa GTA because of several reasons; - Would be a great daily drive (very practical and spacious) - Why buying another sports car if you already have the Ferrari? (If you want a weekend toy sell the Ferrari and buy a replacement Lotus, Porsche or whatever for that) - A 147 is a great DIY car with good parts availability - Of the 3 the Alfa (believe it or not) is probably going to be the most reliable - If it needs to go to a garage the costs aren't going to be as high as that of the Porsche or Lotus - The Busso V6 has the best engine and exhaust noise of the 3

I have owned and run each of your options as a daily driver. Elise (with sports exhaust K&N air filter) fabulous handling and sounding car but impractical in the wet- getting in and out with roof on you need to be 5" and 10 stone, you will need asbestos hands to remove whatever you put in the luggage compartment after a short drive and it will refuse to stay on the road (in either wet or dry conditions); GTA fabulous sounds but unreliable and watch for corrosion- rear window replaced twice in the same winter after remote popping of tailgate resulted in rear screen disintegrating into 1000's of pieces and after six months of use the exhaust started to corrode; Cayman S (PDK in black with sports exhaust) great handling, fabulous gearbox, faultless driving and ownership experience throughout. Head:Porsche, Heart:Lotus, Sounds:any of them

It has to be the Cayman due to the quality of the engineering alone.

Whilst my head says the Cayman would be a much better car in many ways, I think the fact that you've had probably better 911's and kind have done the Porche thing makes my heart win out and go for the V6 Alfa! Best of luck and keep us posted!

Gotta be the Alfa, I have a 159 sportwagon, I’m a mechanic and always shyed away from Alfa’s due to legendary electrical issues etc but, I have to say, it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. An Alfa is a partnership, not just a car to get you from a to b, as long as you look after it, it will give you the grin factor every time you drive it, and you can’t help but look at it as you walk away from it thinking, “ wow, that’s pretty “.

I'll go with the Cayman S, the Alfa will be less reliable and spend more time off road.

What about Golf II or Renault 5, as you’ve mentioned practicality?

The most fun car I've ever owned, back when I was 19. These little things are pure joy to drive, still miss mine 25 years later.
