WHY PATH OF TITANS COMMUNITY SUCKS

Death threats are the lowest and weakest argument points, which is an automatic loss in an argument. In the PoT discord, people who did pay for the dino were calling people who were upset at the paywall, Broke and childish. They didn’t see the pov of others who were upset because Matt told us that there won’t be microtransaction. Most people weren’t upset because they have to pay, they were upset that they were lied to. Many people were also talking about how we don’t want to support the game despite people paying money to get the game, buying skins, and donation roles. People are not forced to donate to a game. Personally I don’t think they should put dinosaurs behind a paywall, because many people bought the game to play as their favorite dinosaur and will struggle to get it if they are a child, or it’s to expensive in their country. Matt and the creators are humans, they make mistakes just like us. They don’t deserve the insults a threats. Yes they could have said something about it, but they just made a mistake and fixed it. If you join a community be with it, not against it.

1) I think it's a bit of an exaggeration to apply the vocal minority to every pot player. I agree, sending death threats and whining constantly is a horrible way to go about it, but the people doing that are less than 1% of pot's community. Tyran was only up for an hour an at like 4am for me before it got changed to free; that's a very short window. 2) The actual concern wasn't about the price. It's the principle of having a hyped up new release that's been implied to be a Christmas surprise (I know it wasn't actually, there's more coming) be locked behind a paywall, and it's an apex that gives those that do pay an advantage over others. A lot of people, including me, didn't refund or just bought the skins even after it became free because they want to support the game. Paying isn't the issue. 3) For a lot of people who bought the 'full game access', the understanding was that they had access to all future playables from that 1 purchase. So seeing a sudden paid playable broke that trust somewhat and was setting a precedent for them to continue doing that (I know they weren't, but that's what it felt like to a lot of people), especially since 'dlc' dinos were planned for after full release. The issue was that it was poorly communicated. There was little forewarning that it'd be paid content, and it was a very odd time to suddenly drop microtransactions that aren't cosmetic, and the dev's realize this. They've fixed it, learned, and moved on. They'll do better next time, and I'll gladly pay for transparency.

What's sad is that this behavior from the community ultimately will cause the very thing they don't want to happen. Which is... An overhaul of Monetization and a lack of/dramatical slowdown in new characters being added moving forward. Essentially, the devs now have very little incentive to add new characters to the game after the crowdfunding roster is finished. Additionally, the remaining crowd funded dinosaurs appear to be reliant of many other things being added to the game. IE: Climbing, map redesigns with plants, etc I've sadly seen this happen in a game before. And you know what happened? They listened. Instead of getting new characters/weapons frequently we got weapons like every 6 months, and maybe one character every other year. Cosmetics became the main money maker for server maintenance and dev costs so they got worse. I dread it but easily see Skin Packs going away. Replace with Individual Skin Purchases, purchased Emotes, purchased colors (imagine buying the ability to use Purple on every skin), character rename changes, character redesign changes. So I can see Skin bundles becoming a thing where we buy 1 skin per dino. Character subspecies changes being a paid for thing (or you delete and reroll). Wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing paid Map Transfers. Literally seen all the above happen before. And the overreaction the community had leads to such things. I see both sides of the argument. Alderon definitely dropped the ball by not explaining things clearly. However, the death threats, the abuse, the toxicity ultimately makes the community loose in the end. Moving forward the devs can just say: "Here's 1 new skin for [Character]." And that's it. Honestly, I was shocked with the bundles. I'm not use to a game giving so much for so little. But now...I dread the future.

The main issue that people have is that Matt has directly said he’s against micro-transactions, and yet here we have a main-roster playable that’s effectively pay-to-win. For me, a lot of the anger over it was justified, Matt lied and tried getting money out people, especially around christmas of all times. But I do agree that bringing it to death threats is too far.

I woke up a couple hours ago to hear about the death threats. And let’s just say I am INCREDIBLY disappointed and disgusted. I get it’s annoying that it wasn’t free for a bit, but everyone sending literal death threats are one of the most pointless and useless sack of crap ever. You can have a fit about it as much as you want, but don’t bring the blame towards the developers who did actually really well with one of the best official apexes in the game. In my opinion the rest of creatures they planned to be released on the early access (Microraptor, Leedsichtys, Tylosaurus, and mystery dinos) should all be obtainable, provided the player bought the base dino pack. If they ever need to make new creatures obtainable through microtransaction it'd makes more sense if they do it after the game fully released.

Honestly, the only thing that upsets me, is the decision of the devs. I mean, I already paid for the game, so then why should I pay (even if only just $7) just to play as a single dino? This is like if when the pounce update came out, people had to first buy the ability kit that contained pounce for the raptors. It just makes a group of people be objectively worse off than the ones who did pay for it. As a player said There were a few issues with what happened but a good summary is this: - They teased a dinosaur all week and it **WASN'T THIS ONE.** - They shadowdropped a separate post-release dinosaur (this one) and were charging for it. - People who bought the game didn't seem to realize they are only entitled to Dinosaurs *up to release.* - Because this dinosaur was not on that list, it fell outside of that obligation. Being released early muddied the waters because now you're releasing something before release that's intended for after release, and you're charging for it (which is still fine by the letter of the purchase.) Microraptor isn't going to be paid. It literally said this in the release trailer for the Titan. It was just a poorly handled explanation of things from a PR standpoint. The community just took it insanely far, it was ridiculous.

Im someone who was incredibly disappointed to find out it was a paid dino, what did i do? Complain about it to my parents and bf, i even told them itd be a great christmas gift lmaoooo. Imo, the Path of Titans community is the best I’ve ever been in. At least when others see when something is wrong, you have admin in most servers to handle the situation, while in other games there is no punishment. 7 bucks I believe is reasonable, considering you pay for the game and Tyrannotitan is SO OP. It’s very difficult to escape from it. But yes- some people can share their opinion. I agree death threats are extreme, but you adding to it saying “you bring nothing to this world, f* you” isn’t helping. It’s best to let it go or let them be punished by bans. All games have their bad moments.

Forbidden Isles is one of those CREEP servers, stay clear of that server and discord. Its a absolute shame the toxicity this game has for being so wholesome and beautiful. The threats and harrasment aren't acceptable but people being upset by this is fair imo. When the game isn't done releasing all the content it's promised and half the roaster is still bare bones and outdated, especially the apexes who are exceptionally bad and then they release a paywalled fully fleshed out apex with a day 1 skinpack does leave a rather bad taste in your mouth. I'm not necessarily against paid playables but they shouldn't be getting released until the game is finished and all the extant playables are fully updated to modern standards.

I’m appalled at what I witnessed on discord. All that bs over a whopping bank-breaking $7 dino (and skins) that wasn’t even funded in the stretch goals. 😑 Because of that response, we likely won’t get more surprise dinos until the game fully releases. I got it because I bought the Pack for all base dinosaurs, I had no clue it became free until I looked into it. I agree, 97% of the players are absolute dickheads, pedos, weird ass people, or people who absolutely cheese the game and just ruin other people’s days by mixpacking. I just really wish that the reporting system was actually taken seriously, as I genuinely enjoy the game even solo usually, but I gotta say it; Some people feel like they belong in Juvie or a prison, it is dissapointing how a fan base for a Dino game is so unbelievably toxic.

I honestly didn't expect to buy the dino but eh I have no problem with it and I easily bought it, so I think everyone should be grateful, like if your gonna talk down about the devs releasing a dinosaur that you had to buy then don't play the game at all, like it's not hard to buy the Tyrannotitan like for real, I bought it with ease, simple as that.
