Steve Ballmer didn't want to give up SGA but his front office and Doc convinced him to do it. They didn't realize that SGA would become better than PG in just a year.

@@pfpchad2747SGA didn’t become better than PG in 1 year. I don’t think SGA passed up PG until the 2022 season. And keep in mind that SGA may not have developed as quickly if he was playing 2nd fiddle to Kawhi. Also, there’s more pressure in LA than there is in OKC.

​@@Oridginale24....right and when you have a chance to possibly get to an nba finals, you make that type of trade every single time and live with the consequences. Putting Kawhi and PG13 together got the franchise on the cusp of the WCF's in 2019/2020 and to the WCF's in 2020/2021..... In fact a stronger argument could be made for the PG13 trade than the Kawhi free agent signing even though Kawhi is clearly the more consistent and dominant player. It's been Kawhi's injuries that have derailed more opportunities at competing for a title. The organization could not have known what SGA would turn into, plus Kawhi signing was contingent on adding PG13. I think any gm would have made that trade to have the opportunity to get Kawhi Leonard to sign as a free agent.

I never understood why clipper fans were upset that he left…. stars to me are guys that can get you to the finals. Please tell me what he’s done for this franchise????
