I wish she got into football during the 80s and early 90s in England then. That was still a glorious time. While the rest of the world had largely moved on and played “the beautiful game”, probably inspired by exchanges with South America players and Maradona; English football was stuck in the physical era, with players going after the ball like rugby. FA and League cup matches were hilarious. By the late 90s it was my dose of nostalgia on the weekend. Due to Japan adoption of the game coming relatively late, only beginning in the 80s, they skipped straight past the physical era. That’s why you don’t see England being featured prominently in captain Tsubasa despite English football dominating in our lifetime.
