@@doombybbr Ah yes... I remember playing "Wizerker"-build years ago. Essentially spellcasting berserker that could facetank nearly everything in the game with Incinerate + Sire of Shards IIRC. It was by far the most powerful PoE build I've ever played, even if it still could die to heavy spike damage. Objectively speaking it was pretty mid-tier build still, but nothing I've played compared to the sheer simple efficiency of it. Next league, the damage-to-heal ratio was nerfed to oblivion, making the build entirely unplayable. On one hand I like that there is a reason to play different build every league, but on the other hand it also means my build is decided more by what is "viable" this league rather than what I actually want to play at the time. The difference between a good build and "just do whatever" is just so ludicrous it's unreal. It's quite telling that in most case I love theorycrafting builds and trying them out, but with PoE it just has so much mechanics bloat and historical shifts to what is viable and hidden interactions that most things I've learned in previous leagues simply don't help. Every league I'd have to research the same things again to even begin to come up with something original that is viable and doesn't just stop working around lvl 50-60.

I feel like it's always sort of been a problem, and their band-aid solution is usually to buff some builds that are pretty easy to get together so the casual players can have starters that have a chance of at least doing the first Sirus. The problem with that is, it's a player-driven market, so any build they buff, everything for it gets driven up in price by player demand and suddenly no casuals can afford what they need for it anyway. Meanwhile, there are people who legit no-life, have massive discords set up where they perma run giga juiced maps, and churn out ridiculous amounts of currency, people that go giga themselves and sell spots for carries to the casuals, infinitely making themselves currency for free in some of the best content the game has to offer. Then there's everyone stuck in the middle. They can get a starter kicked off, and clear the first Sirus, start making ok currency (still barely enough for one build) but they don't want to do the insane min/max. The problem is, in this scenario, only the bare minimum casuals (kill kortava, do a few red maps) and the super serious sweaters have any fun. There's barely any point in being in the middle, even if you get good drops it will never come close to what people trading above you are getting, and no doubt, they will want the same items you do for their 6th character that league just to "try it out" and never use them again. The game is sort of unbalanced in this way in it's nature. You're either full casual, or full tryhard, but the middle is where most gamers want to sit. Comfortably progressing to a fairly powerful character that can clear the later content, so you can feel like you actually did something that season. That's what PoE needs, and I think it's what they are aiming for with these changes.

I liked PoE a lot, it always felt like what Diablo 3 should've been. The problem I ran into is that I don't like throwing away my character(s) every 3 or 4 months. That's just not really for me. Especially since the 10 acts are kind of interesting the first time. Maybe the second time. But not very interesting the 15th time. Everyone knows people just want to get to the maps and whatever stuff is considered the actual game. So it seems odd that it's still just: New season, create your character, wash up on a beach, ResidentSleeper through 10 acts you've seen dozens or hundreds of times. Or if you want a new build: wash up on a beach.... If there were perhaps some branching or choices in the story that could help to a certain extent I suppose. But really you're just paying a "oh you want to try a new build" tax of having to watch the exact same show again - only maybe this time you're knitting while watching it instead of drawing. For a lot of folks it's no big deal, but for me I found that the PoE paradigm doesn't fit me so well. Which is too bad because I like many of the systems in the game and overall PoE is what Diablo wishes it could be.

It really feels like all of the things that we learned to use and rely on have been gutted with no replacement. The biggest issue: they nerfed loot drops upward of 80% and felt that it DIDN'T WARRENT A PATCH NOTE. Unacceptable.

I have played the game a decent amount, but I quit about a year ago after they decided to make it harder to get usable items. It becomes impossible for anyone who doesn't spend a horrific amount of time playing to actually progress through the game. Harvest should have never been nerfed the way it was, it was a huge QoL improvement for people who could spend 2 hours a night on the game, and they gutted it to the point of being useless.

I stopped playing around that time too. I didn't quit, I just didn't feel like it anymore. And even though their builds shouldn't have taken them through t12-13s, people were speed clearing t16s with one hand on the mouse and the other somewhere that wasn't their keyboard. It needed nerfing. Even in its state last league, you could do a harvest and in a single, typical harvest session that takes about a minute to fully clear, essentially chaos spam 20-30 times without worrying about currency, because it didn't take currency to do it. Essences are good, but only the highest tier essences are worth currency and only one of the three was top-tier. The point is that it took her the same amount of time that used to get you an entire map run to kill a single mob that dropped THAT. I'll pass, GGG.

to add on to the other folks, essence crafting is a very normal thing that happens to start off most stuff, but it's very difficult to change essences from one to another without having to burn some resources for it with the express change that it MAY be good, as not all t1 essences are worth it. That and essence crafting burns an obscene amount, sometimes up to 100s of essences for a craft which may or may not brick. Essence crafting also just guarantees a single stat, but you craft with the essences to hopefully get a second good stat or basically imagine trying to play some game like BDO, where you try to upgrade, but it fails and the item gets downgraded (harvest crafting fail) or you're trying to upgrade the thing you want, but it continuously fails over and over again for a slight increase in strength (essence crafting fail). With the resource that you're trying to farm only having roughly 1/2th the chance of it being good, and 1/20th the chance of it being a resource you can use (essence farming)

The idea that what empy's group was doing(and several other groups as well) was bad for the economy is quite weird to me. Yes, they were printing currency and they were also printing divination cards and unique items. The thing is: You cant craft gear, wich fundamentaly the most important part of poe, without a reasonably cheap and constant supply of said currency. Also, there is A LOT less uniques in circulation, spiking the price of the ones on the market quite ridiculously and since you cant turn in divination cards for some specific unique items(the divs are not dropping), that is also not an option. Groups like empy's provided ALL OF THE ABOVE mentioned aspects of early league(day 1-7). Look at poe economy before/after the nerf and the fact that every single 6 man party has left the game at this point. This whole situation is just...weird. The nerfs, the people leaving, the bad taste some(most I assume) get from just oppening the game. Ps: currency in poe is not credit, its not a representation of a good. Currency in poe is the good itself. You can stash it, you can use it to buy stuff, but primarly you WILL use it to craft gear and sustain your farming.

i don't understand why people think what empy does with his group is wrong, they are just optimised players that know everything about the game and all the experience they had brought them there and made them able to farm like that, they are using all in-game mechanics and use them at the best possible way, it's not like they are cheating or anything...

there is nothing wrong juicing your maps and able to play with your friends BUT should a 6 man group out weight and outperform a 1 man with x6 the effort ? that begs the question , there is no way that 1 man can reach the speed and milestone of that group with 6 times the effort. why is it unfair? because both group ( 1 man vs 6 man ) are competing against time, time is the enemy here in a sense that the most time 1 man loses more market value overtime faster than the 6 man group.

well the problem here is that, as we already stated, their group by using careful planning and party loot multiplier has effectively generated 5~10 times the amount of loot most people would generate with the same investment, which will dilute the market in alot of ways... we all know how it will go when we go the "lets print more money" route, obviously the things they generate will lose in value as they start to flood the market, and the effect is worse toward high rarity items, as when you have half the amount of mageblood on the market being sold by the same dude from their group, they are in control of the price of the item, as nobody will ever get their mageblood sold higher than the price empy's group decided, and obviously empy's group also need to sell their stuff, the price will spiral down till the point the price is low enough the demand can meet the amount of stuff they generate... so in the end, they will affect the price of almost anything their group considered "valuable enough to pick up", and people overlooked it thinking that because the price went down its good for them, but in reality it will most likely leave negative impact as the loot you generate yourself will lose value because of their impact.

Empy's group (and other groups) basically trailblazes every league and generate enough currency to retire earlier. They also establish a healthy trading circuit that trickles down to the small fish, so in the end, everyone wins. Not this time, tho. The change of value in currency (Divine being the premium currency) is also weird as all hell. We have no established ways of farming for divines with Divination Cards. Exalts are down to 10c each, and while it's good to actually use them for semi-serious crafting, as they're way more accessible, Divine Orbs are WAY more useful for the casual player. Around 23:30 that talk about Ultimatum league, for reference, by the end of act 6, together with a friend, we managed to gather 5 exalted orbs. By the end of act 10, we had enough to get stuff that'd get us BOTH to tier 13+ atlas maps. We were pretty slow so it took us a few more hours than most good players would find necessary, but still. I then spent most of the league trying things left and right, playing on multiple characters to find exactly what I'd enjoy the most, because I was drowning in high tier currencies. Last few leagues, after over 80 hours, I could barely afford my gear to deal with Atziri, and even then, essence monsters, especially corrutped ones, *JUST WOULDN'T DIE.* Normally I'd just run them over, they'd maybe hold a few more seconds than most normal or magic mobs, sometimes even a bit longer than classic rares. In Lake of Kalandra tho, they would just tank *several MINUTES* of continuous brutality, all while hitting for 80% of my effective hit pool with only defensive mods, and guess what ? If I were to die to them at any point, they'd most likely be back to full health by the time I'd be back, even with a portal in a safe but nearby location. In comparison, 5 minutes earlier, the same character face-tanked *Ghorr, the Grasping Maw* one of scourge league bosses, killing him in basically 2 minutes. *Pure Insanity.*

My personal issue with their choices in recent years was the global drops with uniques. Thematically relevant drops, league-specific items, cool doodads you could target farm have been plastered into the global drop pool: now everything you drop is like opening a card pack from an ENTIRE TCG, while before it was specific expansions and sets of cards with their own specific drop pools. Wow I found a thing that's extremely rare - and good (mostly not the case). I didn't look for it, I didn't do anything specific, just the same action as the last 1000's. I dropped a Squire in Archnem, from a random white mob. I was happy- BUT I was much happier beating The Exarch and getting a rare Forbidden Flame. Cause you know you can only get those from that- now it's a lot rarer, and most of them are shit even if you do drop any - AND it's more common behind a UBER version, I get the idea, harder content better rewards, but I relatively SUCK at the game, only league I got to the Feared (lost) was archnem, and it's from there that I dropped BIG 100's of Ex in value stuff that I could sell, craft my gear (If I were a good player I'd have probably gotten even better gear at a fraction of the price, turned 100 ex into a 1000 over time, but I'm not, I suck - and I still played the league FOR 3 MONTHS total) Just. Wish player power wasn't this gated just because the 0.1% can do and much more in 2 days what I can barely in 3 months.

The progression is increasingly more shit. The journey sucks. It doesn't matter if the end point is juicy, if casuals have to drag their balls through broken glass to get there. The game does require a certain level of currency to be playable, but that doesn't mean that you should be alching every map from the beginning of maps. The game has developed beyond that. At least, I haven't had to worry about it for the past 2 characters I got to t10s so far. Not to mention, if you're playing trade league, currency sustain is incredibly easy. As an indie game developer with 25 years of experience, here are my thoughts for improving the archnemesis mechanic: 1) Reduce the spawn rate to, at most, once a map. Preferably once every few maps as they tend to be more time consuming than map bosses. This will make them feel extra special whenever you encounter them. 2) Give them their own unique category and color (maybe a green border?) and then bring back regular rare mobs. Again, trying to make these encounters feel special and uncommon (kinda like the rogue exiles, but better) 3) Assign a loot multiplier per random modifier they get. For instance, maybe tier 1 difficulty mod adds 2.5x the loot quantity and quality per mod, but a tier 3 difficulty mod adds 20x the loot quantity and quality per that difficulty of mod. With these changes, they'd not only feel special when you encounter them, but once you learn the loot table you can gauge if they're even worth fighting, thus making them rewarding for noobs and pros alike.

from what I read in this comment it seems for me that just make the map boss better -> tone down rares to be aligned with other mobs(only hit 1.5x harder and have 10x hp of white mobs). I mean the game already bloated the way it is and the archnem is there to help clarify on what kind of mods the mobs have which is served the purpose well, though I still hate a lot of them(lightning mirage, lightning warp totem, vines, etc.). It's fine to fight a single mob for 10 seconds for this type of game, but it's never fine to fight them for 10 minutes when they're not even a map boss to begin with and the worst case is even end game bosses won't take that long for well built characters. The flow of the game is like you obliterate every single mobs with 1 shot, but some rare mobs just refused to die for 10 minutes and that's absurd. Well there is another extreme case which is mechanics stacking, like lightning mirage, everything can stack even haste which will increase speed of mobs and they're stacking eachothers. When you kill them too slow you'll randomly got 1 shotted just because another phys aura mob come in range. But even with that I know the problem is not they're tanky in general, the counter mod of my build is just too strong. I'm using lightning tendrils and it's only deal lightning damage and relied on shock. Mobs with lightning or elemental mods will have 80% reduced lightning ailments effectiveness and have 60% res against lightning or elemental. I know it's already toned down from complete immune to shock, but 80%? seriously?

28:45 its like M+ affixes. I know a lot of casual players who liked doing m+ dungeons but skipped certain weeks, because the affixes were to much trouble to deal with. Now imagine Blizz made every mob in WoW randomly role some of these affixes. Suddenly you die farming leather or the ore you were trying to mine just rolled explosive on it and killed you... Its only a fun concept if you can deal with it. Also in PoE your builds are pretty limited. Its like running a frost mage but mobs have a chance of negating 95% of your damage. Sure you could go back to town, spec fire and try to kill the mob, but what do you do if the mob after that rolls fire immunity? Also speccing fire means grinding new gear for 3 hours or rerolling entirely

This is the result of Chris and GGG valuing their own vision above any and all player feedback, after years of...valuing player feedback above all, which is resulting in every patch the game going towards the opposite of what players like about PoE, the biggest offense this time was a nerf to the absolute CORE feature of a game like this, the drops, one of the best feelings in ARPGs and other looter games(like borderlands) is seeing the famous lootexplosions, this league completely destroyed that, theres less currency so theres no point in playing trade leagues since you can't juice maps as well as before due to less currency being dropped(and even if you do, said juiced maps will have less drops anyways so its not worth it), less currency also means SSF players get fucked because you can't craft nearly as well anymore, specially since harvest was also nerfed. All in all, GGG is completely out of touch with what the community liked about their game and are doubling down on their bad decisions, i'm actually cheering for Blizzard, hoping that diablo 4 will be good so PoE has some actual competition for once.

I have been playing off and on since Beta. For me what would keep me playing long term would be to add more customizations choices while playing. For instance why is there not an option for auto looting certain currency's? Every single friend that I have tried to get to play the game quit within the first 60 levels because of all the currency clicking. Idk about others but I want to spend time fighting making builds and whopping digital ass. Not clicking on names of items for 50% of my time, this problem is toward mostly newer players or casuals. People that have been playing and got everything memorized can pretty easily skip all things they have no interest in. But anyone else feels like they need to pick up everything because you have no idea what anything's value is. Second thing would be to allow for moving via WASD, click to fight is very off putting for many people. If even just these options were in would bring in a good chunk of people. Sad thing is if anyone post these things in reddit or the forums all the POE tryhards downvote it to hell for no reason other than they don't want other people to enjoy the game.

Sad state of the game for sure. I quit during expedition league due to the mana nerfs; it was just plain unfun having to build so heavily around sustaining mana requirements when you're already doing 80% less damage due to cumulative nerfs to every damage link. The issue across POE you touched on briefly is GGG not understanding their community. They have one of the most non-beginner friendly games: which is almost impossible to pick up for newer players. And because of this: newer players in a league miss out of 90% of their game due to such a high knowledge floor. Its a waste of software and programming as majority of the player base do not experience even fighting shaper for example. The other group of players include the theorycrafters, people whom follow theorycrafters or the economics players whom fast grind first 24 hours of a league to generate massive currency ahead of the curve. Nerfing these latter groups not only makes them more unhappy but pushes newer players eveen further away from the game. Grind is not rewarding enough. No power fantasy when you're build finally comes online (as it never does since no damage and no mana to even make your screen pretty). And whats sadder is they are alienating their own dedicated niche player base by not even listening to the feedback from only players that will keep coming back to the game.

They've been messing up in really large ways fairly frequently and I think that's a big reason why people are so mad right now. Last league ended up really good, but it started out a mess with the Archnemsis monsters going core. Two leagues ago they when Arch was the league mechanic it started out with a horrible implementation - it was difficult to even interact with it. Four leagues ago was the massive nerf Expedition league where they went way too hard on things that didn't need changed and ended up reverting a good chunk of it. That's 3 of the last 4 leagues that have started abysmally. And some of the stuff they're massively screwing up is very easily noticeable. It's like they're rushing everything and not properly reviewing or testing it. Then throw on top of that the myth of PoE2 that was announced 3 years ago and is still a year away from even announcing a beta. Plus many aging mechanics like the same campaign grind and the same master missions we've had for years and the game feels very stale. And feeling stale when you have a new league every 3 months says something about the state of your game.

As someone who only makes their own builds lemme tell you a secret ... there is no strict build (at most there are a few key items). Most often there even isn't a strict ascendancy for the build. Most build guides (both good and bad ones) aren't written for people who already understand this hence why looking at a build guide may give of the impression of it being strict, but this is by design. Because the creator knows this exact thing will work, so for someone who has no idea it's the safest bet to go for the exact same setup. A more experienced build creator may just take snippets of the guide and look at some other similar builds (or even just the character itself) and then put something together from multiple sources + their own twist. If you are enjoying this way to get into path of exile then all the power to you! I've started doing this very early on as well and it really helps you learn the mechanics. Your builds may not be the best the first few times around, but you'll improve every time. It's also way more satisfying imo since poe isn't particularly hard for the most part and creating your own build gives a sense of accomplishment when you manage to do certain things in the game. I'd still recommend looking at build guides when you run into specific problems. Not to follow the guide per se, but rather to check how someone else with a similar setup solved it and if it's a viable option for you.

Enjoy the fun. Tho I would recommend to follow the builds anyways. There is no genius in this world that would create end game viable build on 1st playthrough (especially this season which is hard even for more advanced players). POE is a great game but sadly it's not so casual friendly at first.

At the same time, I'm glad I watched this clip and I'm angry with it. I went back to POE after 2 years and a few things didn't suit me but I thought it was because of a break. Now I can see that this is a game problem after all. And I'm angry because I don't know what to do next, especially since I usually play a necromancer...

Changes like this push away the casual player base (95% of players). Most don't want to spend 100s of hours learning a game only to realise that have to spend 100s more to finish your desired build. Stuff like this will slowly suffocate the game by making it bloated and boring.

and at some point.. let the top 1 percenters get away with their win too. Because if you dont and want to make it challenging for the absolute top 1 percent, guess what, no one else will be able to complete all content at all.

With POE being one of the only games I turn to when I'm bored, need a pick-me-up, or whatever, this hurts. Seeing my favorite game get destroyed with poorly made and entirely out of touch changes that have completely destroyed any desire to keep playing seriously hurts. This has been compounding for a little bit now, but it truly feels like GGG want POE to be only for the ultra hardcore that play for a living. Everyone else doesn't matter and these changes make it harder and harder to progress each league. While I've been able to get to red maps within 4 days of a league launch with a homebrew build almost every league, not even being able to sustain white maps or basic currency to even attempt to craft better gear brings the experience way down. The lack of loot reminds me far too much of my experience in Diablo Immortal, and with such a tone deaf response, I just can't bring myself to overlook how awful things are and continue to support GGG. Almost 4000 hours in and a massive amount of money spent supporting the game through packs, I can't do it anymore. RIP to average and hardcore players, we are no longer wanted by GGG.

Good luck mate,cya around next league shitposting again about another random thing that doesn't affect you in any way,without any sort of criticism or personal experience. I'd really like to know how this changes affected you as a solo casual player since i personally don't see any difference in drops or gear progression compared to the last leagues. Wish people like you had brain to be able to form their own opinion.

@Leodigarius2 жыл бұрын
@@panda93247 Cool, you are having a vastly different experience than me. Every league until now I have gotten to red maps within the first couple days. Every time since 2014. This league, I can't sustain white maps or currency to craft gear to progress beyond white maps. Whether that's just shitty luck or not, it's trash and shouldn't be possible after 30 hours of playtime over the weekend. I don't give a fuck about your league start or what you've experienced, clearly it's been the opposite to me. I'm not some random scrub who quits because something is hard, I quit because my time isn't being valued. After 30 hours over the weekend, I got maybe 25 chaos total, no uniques worth keeping even for leveling, had to reroll because GGG has tuned the game for meta builds instead of the homebrew shit that I've done for years and have been fine with for a while, and can't sustain currency to craft better shit or maps. Fuck off with your assumptions. Defend these shitty actions by GGG all you want, no one else is.

@@Leodigarius Not sure if it's legit to be a player since 2014 and talk about not being able to sustain white maps at the same time,big oof. There wasn't any changes to map drops,you still have your atlas passives,most broken thing they added,you still have your kirac missions spam for completion/reseting his shop. Sustain mapping was way harder back then,pre-atlas or even atlas of worlds expansion when you had to pray for a specific maps on specific regions to progress. But sure buddy keep telling us current state of the game is the worst and unrewarding. Sounds like you just can't/don't want to adapt to changes if you're not caping about your experience.

very good video i agree 100% with you. I have played PoE for a long time so seeing the community this upset is devastating. Even i like that loot gets reduced but not in this way, what i want is less loot but better items. To clarify the type of loot system i want is that all rares is like when talismans was good. The loot 2.0, talismans could roll crazy high tier rolls much more likely then normal rare amulets or gear in general.
@DrakeOola2 жыл бұрын
Talismans were terrible, dropping corrupted so you can't even craft or modify them... We got mirroring items now which can buff and straight up increase the stats of an already good item by like 5 fold. This new mirror mechanic is even more broken than synthesis league but the problem is purely how much they actually gutted farming currency and nerfed crafting. You're now forced to engage with league mechanics to get loot and less currency means less crafting plus the additional crafting nerfs and suddenly pro players can't create better gear to trickle down the community ladder. That's the actual problem. They actually did what you're describing, they nerfed the amount of rares that drop but gave them like 10x better stats when you ID them. The real problem is how they broke currency farming for juiced maps and threw it all into loot goblins, divine changes are abysmal too...

Maybe if they upped the QUALITY of dropped items instead of QUANTITY it'd be an okay trade off. For example with white items. Don't drop crappy white items and only show up ones with close to full slots or full links. Same for Blue items. Then turn all of those items not being dropped into currency that is dropped at the end.
@triforce83312 жыл бұрын
One big problem they don't seem to be paying attention to at all is that they've stated multiple times that rarity does not affect currency in any way. In the process of trying to improve armor drops they took away the one thing that affected currency drops and did nothing to offset it
@godcipherz6962 жыл бұрын
Why not just make every drop 6 link so i can finish league in a day? The company is LITERALLY called Grinding Gear Games.... What do you think they think of gear progression. It's SUPPOSED to be a grind. Thats why they drop a lot and have item filters built into the game. Its about getting shit items and crafting them into good items. If you got all good link items, half the currency becomes irrelevant. Then theres no point to you getting currency at all.
@Zefar772 жыл бұрын
@@godcipherz696 Ah yes, the moment someone suggest an improvement to the system the hardcore fans instantly think we want everything to drop. Newsflash, we don't, we just want the things that drop to at least be a chance of an upgrade. If they want to reduce stress on the server they can start by removing the shitty drops and turn them into something useful. Yes you hardcore players won't have any use for these currency items but the casual player will.

@@Zefar77 Hardcore fan? I havent even played the last 2 leagues. Its common sense the way the game works. They have a paradigm for gear dropping and it hasnt changed. The Rare mobs being harder than map bosses is shit, and I agree that needs to change or drop rates should be buffed an equal amount to compensate. This game has always been about killing lots of shit and getting lots of shit drops. The first step to getting good items is finding good BASES to craft from. Its never been the paradigm that they drop good to go natively. Spending 6 mins killing every rare for nothing and/or getting killed by said rare (only really a concern for hardcore) is also shit. See? Im not opposed to changes. Im just opposed to shit changes dumbing the game down. Go play Diablo.

@@Jinkypigs Its had support for loot filters built in the game forever. They may not have made their own filters, but they have had option support for people that wanted to make their own filters for a long long long time. It's kind of like when Activision implemented SBMM, they focused on new players 'getting better' at the cost of their veteran players suffering in almost every lobby. When developers focus on one extreme without questioning how it will affect the rest of the playerbase it tends to look like this. If they wanted to nerf item quantity they should've made that quantity have better rolls or stats, so you'll get perfect stats on a piece of gear and have to plan how to make it work in your build. Why give your players a pay cut, but not give them better insurance? They get nothing from this.
@blanktrigger88632 жыл бұрын
That's a bad comparison. In the Activision example veterans suffer only because of their ethic of trying to abuse new players. It should tell them something that they don't find it fun to play against themselves. You basically either do SBMM and try to figure out how to do it right, or you end up with a tunneled player that doesn't replace it itself, anyway. No such concundrum exists with the decision that this game made.

In my opinion the biggest problem with that is that the game balance is bad, the bosses have too much damage and the current defense can't tank hitkill. Aside from the over-the-top mods of the archnemesis, ritual, and sentinel leagues.
