I failed the PE civil water resources TWICE by getting 56 questions right each time. I'm so embarrassed, stressed, and sad. Taking it again in a few months. If you read this - please send good vibes and prayers my way (two young kids, full time job, so tired). Good luck yall!

I agree with this guy's methods - work the example problems. I failed it the first time because I tried to let my strength (Sructures) carry me. I noticed on the exam I failed, however, there are quick easy problems in each Civil area ((fluids, economics highway etc.). For the second try, I got a book with problems each area. I worked all the problems. I did this over period of about a year; it wasn't that hard. The second test was easy.

Thanks for the advice, im about to take the FE for the 4th time. The first 3 times, i would panick and let some questions trip my confidence. I believe I know the material better now after getting honest with my self and taking time to learn the material. I will practice just flagging questions that are difficult when i take my practice test. Thanks again!

Best of luck with your exam! Remember to go to the easier problems first, it’s okay to flag the ones you get stuck on. Let me know how it goes!

@@TKGxCOD Best tip I got was to read every question twice. Look for things that may trip you up such as the answers being in differing units or answers you could easily eliminate. Sometimes the answer is staring right in front of you. If the problem seems too long to complete in under two minutes there is probably something you're missing.

@@darkcargo969 I agree. I took the test last week now just waiting for results. Everything felt way more clearer when I read questions multiple times, paid attention to units, And avoided over complicating things. I hope to have passed when I get results this week. Thanks for the tip also!

were the problems in the same order as the NCEES exam specifications? ex. it starts with project planning, then means and methods, etc. or they were all over the place?

The problems are mixed throughout the exam!

you only get graded on 70 problems, not 80

This comment doesn’t make any sense…. They grade you on the entire exam.
@danielk24849 ай бұрын
@@5GrumpyOldWomen they only pick 70 questions that grades. 5 questions from the breadth and 5 questions from the depth do not graded and do not count towards your score. NCEES discloses this on the site.
