The Celtic Countries are Eire, Alba, Mannin, Cymru, Kernow, Breizh . It is worth while to explore through Celtic studies. A possible reason why people leave the Celtic Countries is they have not really been here, as the English version is not Celtic. Words create realty. Go raibh mhaith agat alig, as Tir Celtica.

Why did you think you would get to see a GP without having to pay or get medicine free? Is it free in your home country? If I went to your country, would I see a doctor or get medicine without having to pay? If you want to work in another country, you need to find these answers and many others before you go. Then there won't be too many surprises. Ireland is a very small country. It cannot afford to give medical and dental services free to its own citizens or foreigners.

Any 5 minute read of Irish history will tell you that emigration has been a significant issue here for literally centuries.. all of my family, including me emigrated at some point and my siblings still live abroad.. if you can stomach the high cost of living and the shiite weather, it's an okay place to be, but you need to be prepared to put yourself out there and get involved in the local community, GAA etc .. otherwise it will be difficult to make friends .. as is the case in any country, the locals have all known each other for generations and don't necessarily need more friends.

I am an eighty year old who thinks this is the best country in the world and my government look after me very well to do that they need money. Maybe you should question your expectations of what you get in your pocket and furthermore get involved. Very insightful. I think taxes in Europe is kinda high though. Let me add to what you said. It's not a straight up 40%. If you earn for instance 50k, you will pay 20% on 36,800 and 40% onthe balance which is 13,200. This is for a single person without dependent

@riddickunle
@riddickunle 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was going to point that out. The 40% is on the excess above €36,800. The government is proposing a mid-level tax bracket of 30%. So the plan is 20% on 36,800, 30% o 36,801 to 55,000 and 40% on the excess above €55,000.

Ireland doesn't have high tax, it has probably medium tax and low tax compared to most EU Countries. I've lived in two other EU Countries where tax is higher, and also more complicate to understand in terms of the amount of bands. Ireland has two bands of tax and you pay zero tax on the first 10,000 or so. You can be emergency taxed though so watch out for that. I wish there was a third tax band for people who earn over 100 k or something, but that's just a socialist dream
@TheLastAngryMan01
@TheLastAngryMan01 Жыл бұрын
The higher tax bands in Ireland kick in fairly low though, in the mid 30k’s. No socialized medicine for most people either, and very weak rent controls, unlike a lot of other Western EU countries. Guess it depends on your income and circumstances.

If you earn a lot you pay a lot in taxes but if you don't earn a lot it shouldn't be much. Make sure you're not on emergency tax. You can go to the tax office and explain how much you earn and then if they took too much tax you'll get it back.

In European terms, Ireland is a low tax country. If you want crazy taxes, try living in the Scandinavian countries. In most European countries, you can expect to pay around 30-35% of your pre-tax income in income tax, social welfare payments and health payments. This is generally true up to around €65-70,000+ incomes. It is hard to generalise as there are around 50 countries in Europe, and every one of them has a different tax system. Indeed, many countries like Spain and Germany have regional tax systems, which adds to the difficulties when making comparisons.

The big change in Ireland, since the 1990s, is that EMIGRATION is no longer effectively compulsory. When the first significant flow of IMMIGRATION to Ireland began, most Irish people's reaction was "Are these people mad? What they hell are the doing here? Don't they know the place is a disaster area?" I left in the 1980s. I spent about half of my life in other countries. The Ireland I came back to eighteen months ago is a far better, more interesting, place than the bland, boring, Catholic-dominated, dump I left. A lot of that is because the economy needs, and attracts, bright people like you. And a lot of it is because Irish people discovered that they could be themselves, after the power of the Catholic church was broken, and mostly they want to be open, welcoming and friendly. Ireland is not a particularly high tax country. You could try living in Norway, or any f the Scandinavian countries, if you want to experience a high tax country. The government is proposing to bring an intermediate tax rate of 30% so people don't end up in the highest tax bracket at a relatively low income. There are also mutterings about raising the tax bands.Hopefully in the next budget... I can relate to the loneliness issue. Waking up in an apartment in Ankara with an outside temperature of -20C, with ice on the inside of the windows, and you get this mad urge to be in Wicklow in spring....

Ireland has the distinction of being the first country to legalize gay marriage by popular vote. That in itself is a good reason to check it out as you'd be living with friendly, tolerant and peaceful people who value nature and respect all peoples. The reasons to leave are, of course, valid but if you can find a partner there it is an excellent country to bring up children. 🌈🧡

Ireland is actually the worse country to raise children, especially if you're of African descent.. They steal children and Foster them by force by fire.. And their legal system is a yoke.. I found a people who can't afford to speak the truth.. Our children are commodities to be traded on
