Why Persona 5 Fans SHOULD PLAY Shin Megami Tensei V. It seems like it always has to be "Persona 5 VS SMT V" on the internet. But I love both games. Today, I wanted to talk about why I think Persona fans SHOULD PLAY SMT V. And how each game has their strengths and similarities with each other.

I've recently started playing through Persona 4 and I love it! The combat is amazing! I hope to play SMT V and Persona 5 next to experience more of Atlus's games! They look amazing. Can't wait for P4AU!

truee, I've just been recently getting into the other SMT games since I just got a 3DS and man they're so fucking good, would 100% recommend them to Persona fans, I feel like there will at least be one game that a Persona fan would like in the series.

My opinion on this game: Difficulty and game play is top teir. Challenging yet not unfair. Needing to adapt and use many different demon (until you get yoshitsune and idun then then it's mostly a cake walk). Found the characters and story to be weak, development mostly rush and lacking a reasonable progression. Mostly telling you what to do and not letting the protagonist to gradually go through and form his identity. Also the "paths" are very short and mostly revolve around what your answer at the final chapter of the game. Game is very fun, but story is lacking for me. You might hate me for this, but prefer Persona 5 Royal then SMT5.

I disagree a lot with you , especialy about the story. SMTV has barely a story most of the time , the story itself is very dfiferent from persona (and imo not that good) and the only emotional moment is okay. Nothing compared to persona, especialy because the characters invovled barely matter. Also what School setting? You at best spend like 30 minutes in the school entire game. I don't think is wrong to recomend smt to persona fans but imo this video is bit missleading. Both games/series are extremtly different.. I would only recomend this game if the person actually really enjoy persona 5 combat and wanted more.

I enjoyed the story and lore almost on the same level as P5, cause tbh I thought was P5 was lacking compared to P4. You return to the school several times in SMT V. It’s basically one of the dungeons too. They’re very different series but as someone who only played Persona and jumped into SMT V I was pleasantly surprised by just how familiar it felt. That’s all just my opinion though. Thanks for watching/commenting!

I have heard several people, notably Persona people, criticise the story and characters of SMT V. Personally I disagree with that. Yes, you don't develop deep personal connections with most of them, but this unlike Persona isn't mostly a dating sim. I enjoyed the character arcs and development of several of the characters, the interactions and personality with numerous demons, and the ending that I got. The storytelling is very different from Peraona, and many other jrpg series, but it is very good if you can embrace the style and delve into the lore, worldbuilding, and think about your choices on a personal level.

@@badlatency9979 My problems with the story isn't because you don't have connection with the characters. Never played Persona , only mainline and Devil survivor. My issue is how little story is in the game, even talking with all npcs and the character lack arcs, outside of Dazai qnd Abdiel. All others, especialy Yuzuru, have zero screentime, zero devemploment and do absolute nothing entire game. Not to mention how some character just stop existing like Aogami, Hayataro, etc

@@alsaiduq4363 you can have somewhat a point with Yuzuru, but you can hardly say the same of Tao, or Amanozako who has entire side quests about her character development, and Aogami may not get much development but he's always there to some degree giving advice or asking your opinion and even to the end his character and what the two of you are is very important to the plot that I won't spoil. There is also Nuwa and Yakumo who are pretty solid characters with a pretty nice arc I thought.

As much as I think Nocturne's gameplay is horrendously outdated compared to 5, I would highly recommend it for those that played 5 for their first game. And I would recommend 5 for anyone who has only previously played the recent Nocturne remaster. There are major story elements that will hit much harder if you have played both V and Nocturne. I won't spoil why.

No way, and that is an absolute falsehood. SMT Nocturne has arguably the most jarringly convoluted and overall worst dungeon system design in gaming history and most definitely out of the entire franchise. There is absolutely no good reason to play Nocturne in order to get the full enjoyment out of SMT V. I don't understand why you want to subject someone to play such a torturous game with so many annoying dungeon gimmicks that literally eat up so much of your time.

@@BillyChilly100 I did say the gameplay is horrendously outdated. That includes the dungeon designs. But thematically and storywise Nocturne and V do have ties. Not massive ties where you need to play both, but they are linked.

@@badlatency9979 Normally I hate dungeons like this and RPG's but I loved everything else about Nocturne that I didn't mind it too much. I wasn't even turned off by the random encounters. I agree though I'm glad I played Nocturne first. It's almost like SMT V is like a spiritual successor. At least in the way that you'll feel very welcomed going from III to V.
