This video series explores the Seven Deadly Sins as a Christian concept and beyond. What’s so bad about these sins? How do they apply to present-day life and society, and how can they influence our well-being and the well-being of those around us? And can non-Christians benefit from this concept? This essay delves into the mother of all sin: pride.

Pride caused me to miss out on countless opportunities in my life. Many times in the past, a career opportunity would present itself to me, but if it wasn't at a certain level, I would take a hard pass. I did this over and over, until there were no more opportunities. Then, I had nothing. Eventually, I realized that I had to go down to go up. I ended up doing something mediocre, excelled at it, and rose to the level I wanted to be at initially. Sometimes, you have to take a circuitous route in life.

Pride, power and entitlement. The 3 deadly traits most people have. Most people believe they are better than you because they hang in hyena packs. People also abuse their authority that they may carry just to make a point. These people believe they are higher than you, higher than god. Step back. Let them flex. The most high will make sure they receive what they put out. Only the most high can make these narcs fall from grace. They can never take what they dish out. And they will be put in the same circumstances that they tried to put you in. Let it play out from moment to moment.

Developing a healthy sense of pride can be a challenging task, especially in the context of capitalism, which often values material possessions and external markers of success above personal qualities and character. Here are a few ideas for cultivating a healthy sense of pride: -Focus on personal growth and self-improvement: One way to feel proud of oneself is to set goals and work towards achieving them, whether they be related to personal development, career advancement, or hobbies and interests. By putting in effort to become the best version of oneself, it is possible to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in one's own progress and achievements. -Celebrate your uniqueness: Instead of comparing oneself to others and striving for perfection, try to embrace and celebrate your own unique qualities and talents. Recognizing the things that make you special can help you feel proud of who you are and build self-confidence. -Practice gratitude: Focusing on the things you are thankful for, rather than what you lack, can help you appreciate the good things in your life and feel proud of your accomplishments. -Find ways to give back: Giving back to your community or helping others can be a great way to feel a sense of pride and purpose. Volunteer work, charitable giving, or simply lending a helping hand to a friend or family member can all contribute to a sense of pride in oneself and one's own abilities. -Seek out positive role models: Surrounding oneself with people who embody the values and qualities that you admire can be a great source of inspiration and help you feel proud of the person you are becoming. Overall, it is important for capitalists to strike a balance between maximizing profits and operating in a responsible and ethical manner, taking into account the needs and well-being of all stakeholders.

True humility is without insecurity. The willpower to expose yourself for who/what you truly are and accept reality. Some amount of pride is important. If you have no pride, you will allow yourself to be trampled upon, your feelings overlooked, and your family disenfranchised. Some pride is necessary for one to have confidence. However, our pride must not exceed or humility. We must be able to acknowledge how far we have come, while remaining grateful for our opportunities, and humble in our realisation that it can be taken away from us. We must not be complacent, or believe that we deserve what we have been given.

In my opinion, pride is the root cause of the civilizational collapse we are currently experiencing in the West. It all started with the individual becoming less and less relevant for society and for itself. The Industrial and Technology Revolutions brought us a lot of well-being but we've lost our humility and with it, our souls. Knowing this deep inside, the individual tried to remain relevant and how can you do that if not by comparing yourself to others. We are living in a huge epidemic of narcissism with millions if not billions of people posting their perfect lives on social media. "Look at me, I'm better than you, give me your like". In a matter of 4-5 decades, society started to collapse and in 2020 the real implosion started. The mass formation would not have been possible without pride. All the virtue signallers save grandma who asked for more harsh measures and more dehumanizing restrictions. The vast majority of humans traded being human o signal pride. We traded everything that makes us humans for the pride of showing others how virtuous we are, how we believe in progress and science and we are good citizens that deserve to be cherished. No wonder the "rewards" for taking the poke in the arm were related to those 7 sins: food, badges of honor, access to the concerts and so on. I truly believe it is PRIDE which brought us where we are and PRIDE will be humanity's downfall just it was Lucifer's downfall.

I have a hunch that the essence of pride is the denial of death, feeling that I can grow, accumulate, hold on to things indefinitely. If I clearly see the object of my pride, whether it be my body, my mind, my wealth, etc, nearing complete and inevitable destruction, how can I possibly delight in it in a prideful way? It's like we are all drowning, but you are wearing sweatpants and I'm wearing a tuxedo, so that should make me better somehow. I guess I win at one of many imaginary games we play, but that doesn't shield me from reality, I'll die just the same.

My theory is that the essence of pride is the human need for hierarchy. Hierarchy is a trait of many social animals. It feels good to be on top of the hierarchy, it gives you privileges and esteem. To be a loser, low in rank, feels awful. Everybody wants to be at least in the middle. It is a ceaseless competition. Nowadays, money is the main currency that translates into hierarchical status. Even countries compete, as we know. Wars, economic rankings etc. Yes, death is a problem. But humanity found a solution. We can give an inheritance to our children. Hence such accumulated wealth, hence we invented nobility. etc.

"Authentic pride" is self-validation stemming from one's accomplishments and achievements made through said virtuousness. "Arrogance" is self-validation stemming from circumstance and possibly dissatisfaction.

When anyone tells me I should be proud of having done what I did, my reply is, "That's one way of looking at it." And that is my thought of reply for every evaluation, made by me, and by others. Thanks so much for your deeply thought-generating videos! You are my favorite KZbin presentation, along with Shirley Șerban of New Zealand.

It's sad that the modern masculinity role models are men filled with pride. Andrew Tate, Donald Trump, etc... Pride is one of the worst sins of the bible and I'm not a liberal who absolutely hates these men, but I would love to see biblically masculine role models for young men, we have to learn to express humility and humble ourselves instead of being so full of ourselves, still love ourselves, I'm not saying to hate yourself. On my self improvement KZbin channel I feel it's necessary for me to admit my mistakes so others don't make the same mistakes, yes it's really embarrassing, but I'm driven by purpose, a purpose of helping those who were in my position or in my current position because I speak about mistakes I made yesterday, never act like you're perfect now but you use to be messed up, we're constantly a work in process

After i started to see major results from my self improvement journey (completely quit corn, achieved great physigue, learnt many things, slightly improved my art that i wont show), i quickly became arrogant and pridefull. I quite literally felt natural disgust towards people who are addicted to corn. or the not wanting to listen to people who don't have a good physigue. I struggle at talking to some of my friends because i feel like they aren't worth my time. Pride destroys relationships and connections on so many levels it's unbelievable.

that's what happens when we value material things including skills and abilities, instead of virtue/character. Have a superior virtue is more admirable, it is harder to accomplish than skills and abilities which is mere practice plus Talent. And it is truly beneficial to other people, although a noble character may not be recognizable to the untrained eye. Whereas skills alone doesn't mean one will benefit other people, skill without virtue may even be detrimental to others. So I think material/external things should not be the standard to evaluate others.

Could you identify what made you act loathful towards others who haven't yet achieved what you had? It is peculiar since you know what it is like to be where they are. Something must have prompted you to disconnect from your past, even though the path of improvement, before and after, should be such a great confidence boost. Normally looking down on others in that way is a narcissism that masks a still existing self-esteem issue, as if you had to do something to get where you are that you hate.

I don't really know because I keep hearing "take pride in your work" or "take pride in your appearance" when those things don't necessarily matter in the grand scheme of things. I don't make it a habit of saying that I'm smart because I know that there are people who are smarter than me in the world nor do I like the practice of "humble bragging" which is just vanity disguised as being humble in my opinion. I'm just a girl that likes to watch documentaries, play video games, cook, and be with my family. Does that make me anymore special than anyone, no. Should I be proud of doing things that literally every other person can do, no, because I should be grateful for the fact that I can do those things because I know that other people can't do what I can do. So I have a lot of gratitude even though I'm not in a place where I would like to be, but I also know that things could be a lot worse and I'm not better than anyone on this planet.

One does not need "pride" to be happy of oneself or to hold your ground, one needs a correct self-worth, very different from pride, you have to be open to be mistaken and understand that you can learn something from everyone.

Looking at other people though, I often feel a sense of envy towards them for their achievements. But it doesn't make sense, because just as the video says, success is conveyed by factors external to the person himself such as genetics, the environment, opportunities. we are NOT all the same and we have NOT had equal chances, therefore, always show respect and be understanding towards others. All time.

This one really got me thinking my friend. First just wanna say I love your channel. Now one thing I've come across this year in terms of pride has to do with doing certain exercises in the gym. I began doing martial arts style training which sometimes has you doing some very unorthodox exercises. One can be so attached to the approval of others that they will restrict the movement of their own body. When you go to the gym, you do squats, bicep curls, and bench press like a good boy and you should not do anything weird. Martial arts says detach yourself from this way of thinking, find your weaknesses, and do anything that works to turn them into strengths. This to me is healthy. However one can go too far with this idea. Imagine thinking, "these idiots doing their standard exercises are too afraid of others opinions. I'm not afraid of others opinions, which makes me better than them. My way is the true way." And this is where pride overtakes the good nature of martial arts. It's really a balance of energies, ☯️ yin-yang if you will. A battle between 'looking stupid' and unlocking your true potential. But also a battle between staying humble and thinking that the way you train is superior to others. I've learned that at the end of the day, there is no 'right' way to train, kinda like how bruce lee says you should never attach yourself to one 'style' of martial arts. It just makes me happy to see people training in general, doesn't really matter what they're doing, Could be dancing, lifting weights, running, Kung fu, etc.. As long as they are enjoying it, it brings warmth to my soul.

I like that you addressed the complexity. I think im a prideful person, but i also feel proud when i act right (not always, and not consistently lately) but when i do , i feel it strongly, especially when i do something for my parents or loved ones that doesnt advantage me, or when i choose the right thing even though i really dont want to. I feel something that i think is pride, but is that a good form of pride? I feel it sort of marrs the moment and I cringe. But maybe at some point, especially if you have a life to live an people who need you, you have to give up the ideal and cede a little to pragmatism. You have to keep pride in perspective I guess, in check, and pray to be able to do good deeds and not feel proud for them, for doing the right thing to be your essence. But i guess when your mired in a lot of sin it might be useful to cautiously use pride to start to do the right things.

A bias, blind loyalty. Pride is a coping mechanism. It's born out of low self worth or accomplishment Pride is the foundation in which we build our ego upon. It's an ego-driven impulse. We become the imbalance. Absolute self destruction. The only purpose of the Proud is to drag as many others down with them as possible Pride is the source of it all. It has no definition. Pride is good as long as is not self centered and is the result of achievements obtained with work, fairness and gratitude. Our society more often than not goes in the opposite direction and encourages a mere individualistic pride, envy and success, i.e. money, no matter the prices to be paid. Be a good and a wise person, courageous, and be proud, with dignity, to accomplish and achieve things (even "small thing" of everyday life) that can improve your as well as others lives. I know it sounds as a kind of"utopia" but I think that it's possible and actually it has been in many cases. Thank you for another great video!

As with most things if they are excessive they will have a negative effect on us, it's the same with pride and as you well said if you take pride in your accomplishments without having the need to be validated by others, pride shouldn't be a sin but in my opinion the thin line between "safe" pride and sinful pride is what makes it the worst of the sins. Also i think its much harder to acknowledge yourself if you are a proud person and even harder to change into a more humble one.

Your 2nd definition doesn't speak of Pride, it speaks of Gratitude: Pride's exact opposite Pride is the foundation in which we build our Ego upon. Boastfulness. Megalomaniac Pride in oneself/others is just selfishness. You do not 'give' Pride, you 'take' it. For yourself. Embellishment of the Ego. It's an Ego-Driven impulse Pride is simply a reaction to reality when nothing goes our way. Pride is insatiable. Nothing will ever be enough *Pride is the source of erry negative psychological aspect of us* [SELFISHNESS.
