Why Prince Harry’s ESPY Award Is Sparking Backlash

Prince Harry is the center of controversy after ESPN named him as the recipient of the Pat Tillman Award for Service at this year’s upcoming ESPY Awards. The Duke of Sussex was chosen to receive the honor for his work with the Invictus Games Foundation. However, the mother of the man who the award is named after, Mary Tillman, has spoken out against the decision. “I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award,” she told Daily Mail. ESPN responded to the criticism in a statement saying in part, “While we understand not everyone will agree with all honorees selected for any award, the Invictus Games Foundation does incredible work, and ESPN believes this is a cause worth celebrating.”

He should go back to his home country, where they police speech, if he’s looking for that. “Seeking asylum” is not “the law of the land.” It is permissible on a discretionary basis. We are not the world’s doormat, and we determine who gets to enter the country and stay in it. The bureaucracy has gotten in the way of this process, but with the supreme court’s recent ruling against chevron, the unchecked, unjustifiable “authority” they have enjoyed for the past four decades is going away.

If this had been several years ago, I would have agreed with Harry receiving the award. In the beginning, he was deeply involved in every level of the games and with the athletes. What work for/with Invictus? Showing up for pics and publicity? Other ppl involved in Invictus who actually do the work would be a better choice

She is probably criticizing it because she is probably a republican or someone who doesn’t like Royals in general. I could care less about the royals but it’s clear that what He has done for his own country in terms of fighting in multiple tours/wars (Afghanistan) not to mention the work to develop the Invictus games deserves recognition whether he is prince or not. She says he is divisive?? In what way is he divisive? Because he has family problems? That is not our or the Espys concern. Do you know how many of these other people (vets) probably have family issues? How many are estranged from their parents and we will never know about it because they are not famous? People don’t like him because he didn’t choose a white woman to marry, Period!! There are other military vets ( who served with him) are saying that he literally sucked ( siphoned with his mouth) gas from a tank to fill the vehicle during a military conflict. Who does that? He is humble and gives back to people all over the world ( like his mom) when he could have just been getting massages from beautiful women all day and lived a life of plenty like his brother William and all the other royals and rich folks. He will probably die sooner due to his military service and exposure to chemicals than any of his other royal family members yet he devotes his life to other vets, the poor, starving, orphans, those suffering from diseases and mental illness ect. Yet Pats mom apparently says Harry is not deserving because the award typically goes to those less known vets. Whhhaaaattt ??!!! Yeah and those less known vets have probably never given back to anyone else after they got out of military. Give me a break.

Harry didn’t start Invictus Games! It was inspired by the Warrior Games but he AND William with help from other started them. And as of now veterans are boycotting the games and calling for him to step dow because he is spending Invictus $$ on lavish hotels and wardrobe for his wife and trying to have it places like Nigeria (Which have terrible oppressive, anti-human rights laws)! He is ruining the Invictus games and they are at risk of being sacked.
