Even in death, Qui-gon still believed in Anakin. That really hits deep. I just shed a tear at that point. Luke may have been the only one who could have SAVED him from the darkside, but Qui-gon was the only one who could have PREVENTED him from falling to it in the first place.

One way or another, the Jedi Order had to be destroyed in order to bring balance to the Force. Therefore, there was never a way for Anakin not to fall to the dark side. Qui-Gon's training would've only prevented that balance from being achieved which is why he had to die. It was the will of the Force.

Qui gon was more in balance with the force than anyone else in the Jedi order he wouldn’t have kept Anakin from bringing balance and the destruction or the order may have been the only way to balance out the force but Anakin and qui gon would’ve would have distanced themselves from the order to complete anakins training so they wouldn’t be present for the fall of the order the force would’ve kept them away until the order was gone then they would’ve gone and killed the sith and started a new order in complete balance in the force so the sith won’t ever return again

I think, if he survived, he could play big role in history and many things could be different. I agree, that Jedi order was too corrupted and Force wanted it gone, but that doesn't mean, that there weren't some good seed(real Jedi) in it, that could be saved. Anakin or Vader aren't really important for Order 66. Palpatine has good plan and he exposed himself only because he wanted Anakin as student. I imagine, That Qui Gon would talk with Count Dooku and Separatists and in the end, he would agree with them at some points and decide to join them. He could bring CD back and create conflict inside Separatists between Sith followers and Jedi group under Qui Gon. In the end, order 66 would happen and Republic Jedi would be massacred, but branch would survive and join Rebelion/separatists remains in figh against New Empire and they would win, be it thanks to Anakin or Luke or someone else, I don't know, but result would be similar to original, just Jedi would survive in some form (after many changes).

I agree that Qui-gon wholeheartedly believed in the Force, that he played the long game of making Obi-Wan train Anakin because the Council was about to deny Qui-gon the role anyways, and that Qui-gon was right in training Anakin in the ways of the Jedi rather than letting the Council hide Anakin away or just releasing him back to the galaxy without any help. Is Qui Gon partly responsible for Anakin? Actually answer is yes. Before he was killed, he saw how Kenobi had few instincts outside the Order and was more likely to be the Council and follow the Code; which happened in Episode 3. Dooku and Plo Koon would have been better choices to train Ani. Dooku would have been an excellent Father figure for him. He wouldn't have burdened Anakin with the Prophecy and chances are would've made sure Shmi was safe from the Tuskin Raiders or rescued her made sure she was treated medically. Plo Koon would be more of a understanding friend when it came to Anakin being picked on and him having attachments.
@scottb3034

Qui-Gon also believed in a lot of the Jedi dogma and suffered from the same flaws....such as allowing the slavery outside of the Republic to continue and hiding behind excuses to not change it. Acknowledging that Anakin would have to leave his mother and basically saying "tough shit" since his response to Anakin becoming a Jedi was simply, "Being a Jedi is not an easy life". He was extremely culpable in Anakin's failures and wouldn't have done much better than Obi-Wan since as much of a maverick as he was, he ultimately toed the line when required. Dooku was already on the outs and wouldn't have remained in the Order to train Anakin. His impetus for leaving was Qui-Gon's death.

"Lying" is a bit of a stretch...When even traditional Jedi have trouble telling the difference between a dream and a genuine force vision being cautious is just common sense. Plus, self-fulfilling prophecies could and have happened before in Jedi history. In addition, Anakin has always been REALLY rash and cocky to both his benefit and detriment (alongside eagerly doing some acts that could be considered "war crimes" from an unbiased outsider's point of view). As for "denying him the rank of Master but still putting him on the council", logically, that was the right move. Heck, the biggest reason why Anakin became a Knight ranked Jedi was because wartime required more warriors on the field which the Jedi Order didn't even like anyway. Then Palpatine, a very politically inclined individual, suddenly recommends the very un-politically inclined individual that is Anakin as a part of the Jedi council even though the Senate has no political sway in the matter? Even a tarnished, imperfect Jedi order would find that REALLY weird.

I’ve always believed that it took an understanding of both sides of the force to balance it. Anikin did just that. Luke followed in his footsteps.
@Kazanko28
@Kazanko28 Жыл бұрын
I understand what you are getting at, but I don't think that applies here. I wouldn't say that Anakin ever really deeply understood the force like Qui Gon did. Anakin to me always seemed like he was just a super talented force user, that just happened to be brought up as a Jedi, but has no real discipline or wisdom, which is why he was manipulated into destroying the Jedi order, the relationship with his wife, etc. The only time that Anakin really came to truly understand anything, would be right before he died. In this case I believe that what Stupendous Wave said here was true, the Jedi were growing to strong and corruptible as an entity. For the most part they didn't really follow the will of the force any longer, just their own hubris as an Order of force users. Palpatine wasn't right in what he did, and the Jedi were not fully right in the way they were either. But the force willed that balance be restored, and Anakin did this, by bringing down the Jedi order, and Palpatine as well. Lucas has also said though, that balance in the force is the absence of a strong dark side force of users of it. So it could have also just been, that the force willed that Anakin take down Palpatine, which he could have done as a Jedi, but unfortunately, the prophecy didn't say when and how Anakin would do this, and little did Qui Gon know, it required him to fall and commit unspeakable atrocities to finally come back around and fulfill his destiny.
@jamesblinzler7421

@@Kazanko28 he gained understanding from embracing the dark side from originally light side roots . The force is all encompassing and the weilder is the balance. This isn't to excuse Anakin by any means but he never had a chance against Palpatine's machinations for him.

Obi Wan was a lot like Qui Gon Jinn. Both strict adherence to the will of the force. Remember, in the battle Obi Wan had with Darth Vader, Vader said "I am not your failure Obi Wan". I think also that Anakin truly felt ALL Jedi were evil as he had seen many turn to the dark side including legends like Dooku, Bariss, and even Palpatine himself. There was really no way for Qui Gon to reach the twisted and guilt ridden mind of Anakin. And even as a force ghost, Qui Gon felt a horrible amount of both guilt, and shame for what became. Qui Gon Jinn was an altogether different Jedi. He was a rogue, maverick, a lone Jedi with a strong believe in what the force truly has deemed necessary. This always put him at odds with the council. They often had their doubts about Qui Gon, and possibly wondered if HE was somehow turning to the dark side. Even Dooku had said "Qui Gon would have understood what I am aiming to achieve". Because Dooku was Qui Gon's master. And Qui Gon often lamented that fact. In fact, if anything? Anakin was more like Qui Gon than his own master Obi Wan. But as it stands, Anakin is basically the sum of ALL that was wrong with the Jedi. And he might have felt it was the only way to actually save the Jedi is to become their enemy, purge the "old ways" which paved the way for his son Luke to save both himself, and the Jedi.

Yoda should have trained him, they should have went and freed Shmi(legally) and had her live on Corusant, and allowed him to pursue Padme. Then he would have likely made the right choice in resisting Palpatine, and the necessary changes to the Jedi Order would have been realized. LOL What? No. If he wanted those things then he shouldn't have become a Jedi. Having enough self-control to not endanger Padme (or billions of lives should an evil entity know they are together and use that for ransom) is not a bad thing, it is the proper thing in fact. You don't make exceptions to appease someone. Have you not learned what a plan of appeasement does? The world sure learned since it led to WWII and the death of 70 MILLION people. When you try to appease someone you know what happens? They take more. They ask for more exceptions. It wouldn't be long before Anakin would be asking for the universe and the Jedi would have to allow it because they already made 90 other concessions before. The right course of action would have been to help Anakin confront his emotions, acknowledge them, embrace them and overcome them and work toward fostering an atmosphere that welcomed him and granted him things he was devoid of as a slave and in reality...aka a place he could indulge in friends who cared for him with a strong parental figure that would help him grow and guide him through any turbulence he'd have (and trust said parent). And obviously keep him far away from Palpatine as possible (although in the end it still didn't really matter as Anakin was willing to forsake Palpatine by ratting him out to the Jedi--since despite all the Jedi's issues Anakin loved being one and wanted to remain one more than anything outside of his life with Padme...ironic considering everyone's apparent views on the situation). I will say it would have been smart for the Jedi to buy Shmi's freedom and settle her in a safe system within Republic space just to ease Anakin's mind BUT still that doesn't mean weekly visits. Qui-Gon himself even agreed it would be a bad idea since he warned Anakin from the get-go that being a Jedi is "not an easy life". The LAST thing they should have done was bring his mother to Coruscant and allow him to be in a relationship with Padme.

@@scottb3034 You're obviously too slow to understand, so I'll try again. He needed to be trained, because it was the will of the force. He's outside the norm of who is trained, therefore, the Council should have had the wisdom to bend their dogma. Either way, Palpatine intended on making him Sith, without Jedi training, he would have been sucked much further into darkness, and probably kept his body and became Emperor. Would you like me to break it down further for you, simpleton? They tried to teach him those things. Yoda "train yourself to let go of that which you fear to lose" that kind of training works when training from age 2, not when training a 10 year old former slave. The fact that Luke encouraged marriage among his student afterwards, and the fact that his connection to his father SAVED him and ended the Empire is proof that my theory is correct.

While a part of Qui Gon’s training is what lead to the fall of Anakin, the hypocrisy of the Jedi Order are also the ones responsible. They have been so stagnant that they’re unable to adaptive to changing times in the Republic because they are stable in old traditions and are under a belief that having emotional attachments can lead to a person to the dark side. If you haven’t watch The Clone Wars animated series, I highly recommend that you do!

@@a.jthomas6132 Because it is the worst. There plenty of novel, video games and comics that delved deeper and better in similar material than the show did. The show stomped on everything else and then at times stomped on itself because it can't keep continuity straight. Also you are overstated how deeply the show dives into anything. It doesn't because the format never catered to that. I would take the 2003 Clone Wars over 2008 any day of the week. Just a few examples of things they did worse: Handling of Mandalore and the Mandalorians and Order 66 (chip vs constitutional order) and clone troopers (they were always meant to be neutral turned antagonists but the show decided to make them protagonists and put themselves into a corner that they had to make a hare-brained chip plot to reconcile their portrayal. They made them too heroic to allow their betrayal to occur naturally and didn't have the guts so they copped out and formulated an excuse for the clones). Then there are other fundamental issues like Ahsoka, Captain Rex, Maul and more. The show is acceptable for those that don't know anything about what came before it or like watered down Star Wars. The rest see the show for what it is and its creator for who he is--a real life analogy of Palpatine.

That's why Qui-Gon had to die. If he lives, he trains Anakin and it's unlikely Anakin falls prey to Palpatine's seduction. So with a live Qui-Gon we have a very different story. Maybe a more interesting one with the war between Jinn and Palpatine for Anakin's soul....

Qui gon didn’t follow the grand council . I feel Qui gon is really good character and good teacher filled with wisdom ,knowledge. I feel if they let him live longer got Anakin trained by him. He would become stronger character then Yoda himself. Remember Anakin didn’t have father. He was made purely from the force. Even his mom explains that in the beginning. If Anakin got to study different Jedi teachings and Qui gon got purely focus on him and let him work on his weak points. Better on it and taught him patience. Trust in the will of the force. He probably would of learned the force power from preventing people from dying or using his force power to add more life. Remember the force grands power to the user that study’s all aspects of it. One thing I wonder is this: How do we know it was not the will of the force for Anakin to betray the Jedi? After all, balance to the force could have meant two things: The Jedi outnumbered the sith before the events of Revenge of the Sith, balance could mean cutting down the Jedi numbers until they closely matched the Sith therefore balancing the numbers. OR it could have meant the moment he came back to the light and threw the emperor down the shaft, "killing him" and thus restoring balance to save his son Luke. Maybe balance actually meant both of these? One thing I firmly believe though is that after Revenge of the Sith, he definitely became split between Anakin and Vader.

Yes Exactly the Force needed him to fall to bring that balance. Before we got all the other canon like Clone Wars, Rebels, Ashoka, Jedi Fallen Order. We were left at the revenge of the Sith with 2 Jedi and Two Sith. Obi-Wan and Yoda then Vader and Sidious. Then Obi-wan Died so Luke became the Second Jedi, then yoda died and So it was one vs 2. Then during the struggle Vader switches Sides so it becomes part of the light again and destroys palpatine. So the 2 vs 1 gets flipped. Also as a side note I think the problem with Luke in Mandolarian and Boba Fett is telling Grogru he needs to decide between is loved ones or being a Jedi. When this is the Lesson Luke showed yoda and obi-wan that you can’t get rid of all personal relationships and if you work for a good with your friends and family you can save those who you think are fully lost. So the new canon messed it all up in my opinion and made Luke go back and teaching things he should know lead to the demise of the Jedi to begin with.

Maul felt used by Palpatine in that moment, and Qui was already at peace with his entire vision. He knew what was up. They explore this story later... But Qui Gon knew all along.

I feel that Obi Wan was right. The only person that cause Anakin’s downfall was Anakin himself. Even since Anakin became Jedi Knight, he was no longer under Obi wans wings and pretty much kept his word by training him the best he can even Obi wan stated that in ep 3 when they departed until they fought.

Honestly what did the Jedi expect when the prophecy called for the chosen one bringing balance to the force and there were so many light side Jedi and only a handful of dark side Sith. Balancing that means a lot of Jedi had to go. It's kind of a case of be careful what you wish for because it just might come true just not in the way you expected.

That’s not what balance means, the dark side is a perversion of the force and unnatural, bringing balance to the force means cleansing it of the dark, George Lucas has confirmed much. Vader did bring balance to the force much later by destroying the last two Sith Lords (himself and palpatine), fulfilling the prophecy.

Your comment makes no sense as when Darth Vader eliminated the emperor and himself, he still left the Jedi alive. 1 Jedi, 0 sith…not really bringing balance to the Force. Besides, true balance of the Force means only the light side of the force. The dark side is akin to a cancer. It must be eliminated.

No it isn't. its anakins fault 100% cause he has free will and morality not to kill his subordinant authority figures, cause he brought them the dark lord they were looking for and he was already known to the galactic Republic to be the hero of the war so why is he being greedy and selfish, why kill innocent jedi children, and his jedi brothers in arms he has fought with side by side for many years with witnessing their sacrifice to this conflict with the sepratist and the hidden lord of the sith or why strangle his wife and betray his friends jarjar R2 3po and most of all his surrogate brother teacher and mentor Obi Wan Kenobu or let down and shame his Padawan student asoka tano who rightfully left once she was framed. anakin wasn't in his right mind and could've figured his wife padme had her life threated by senator Palpatine by hiring Jango fett to kill her Palpatine having maul kill his adoptive father figure Qui gon Jin and turning dooku into darth tyranus starting all this conflict instead of being manipulated and groomed by Palpatine he could've deduced it was for the best mace windu ended his life plus the shitty Disney sequels ruins this shit cause Mary sue Rey the inquisitor reeva has the power to heal from serious wounds from light sabers stabbing right in the abdomen or injured creatures.

Agreed while Ani had free will to make his own choices you have to remember many things led to him going to the dark side 1. His Father the force not sticking around to be no baby daddy. 2. Him and His Mother being born and raised to a cruel slave master in Watto. 3. Not being able to also free his Mom from slavery. 4. Not being able to bring C 3PO with him. 5. Leaving his best friend Kidster behind. 6. Qui Gon the closest thing he had to a Father Figure due to the force not being there for him dying due to Maul. 7. Him and Obi Wan having a strained relationship even before being accepted for training with the order. 8. Not being able to talk to Padme once in a while at least. 9. Being bullied by most kids within the order. 10. The Jedi not doing anything to stop slavery at large despite having the means to with the right connections and credentials. 11. Ahsoka leaving the order due to most of the council aside from himself, Obi Wan, Plo Koon, Shaak Ti, And maybe Yoda always siding with her. 12. Obi Wan faking his death that alone was nearly the final straw that drove Anakin to the dark side. 13. Most of the council not helping him enough and giving him the therapy he needed. 14. Palpatines constant manipulations, machinations, whisperings, and fake praising. 15. Anakin losing many friends in the war taking its toll on him. 16. Him having visions of Padme dying. 17. And the main reason him being worried for the safety of his children yeah.

Anakin: "How can I know?" Qui-gon: "I can tell you what I believe. I believe you will bring balance to the Force. That you will face your demons and save the universe" Anakin: "and this creature of the Dark Side? Do I leave, or do I stay and kill him?" Qui-gon: "neither. Look deeper. You will find another way" Anakin: "I don't understand" Qui-gon: "not far from here there is a place that is strong in the Dark Side of the Force. You must go there" Anakin: "and destroy the Son" Qui-gon: "remember your training Anakin. Trust your instincts" Anakin: "Master? Master!" Qui-gon Jinn fades away! Anakin was the light side of the force, Vader the dark side. Vader/Anakin was the force, it was the balance. it's also why Vader never became the Sith lord himself because that would negate the Anakin aspect of himself. It was as if the Sith were tyring to use Anakin as much as the Jedi, but Anakin/Vader was the force itself.

Here's a better one for you. What if anakin HAD to turn to the dark side in order to bring balance? What if the force saw this and knew it was the only way to bring balance? The force saw as we all saw from episodes 1,2 and 3, the hypocrisy and corruption and arrogance of the jedi. It had to happen the way it did as a way for the force or more accurately, the whills, to wipe the slate clean and reorganize the balance of the jedi. That's how I see it anyway.

The prequels really muddy the waters with the philosophy of both dark and light side of the force, they made it seem they're just political ideologies within these two different types of Jedi sets, a political philosophy on how to rule the galaxy, but that wasn't the original intent when Yoda was training Luke on dagobah. Yoda was showing that the nature of the force was something above the physical and so the light and dark aspect is very closer to what Yoda learns in the clone wars when he runs into the celestial beings, that there is the philosophy of the balance of the Force. not who sits on top of its political structure the force could care less if there's a political structure or not it's a non-corporeal energy. This is further cemented with the ideas of the nature of the maw how it's a very negative energy being Abeloth also known as the bringer of chaos the destructor beings on that scale are what bring in balance to the force their existence or their imprisonment when they're released or when they're finally conquered. And a Skywalker eventually kills and stops the Abeloth
