He is 100% right! I’ve been to concerts of every genre and rap was by far my least favorite. They were still fun shows and enjoyed my time but it didn’t compare. An actual band playing classic rock can’t be topped.

@@masonparker24 I’ve seen Kendrick, J Cole, Drake, Wayne etc. they’re all amazing artists but rapping to a crowd it doesn’t sound that good and they rely on audio to carry through. A band where people are actually playing instruments and jamming out while also having a good singing voice is just better live. I prefer rap in the car or with friends but most people prefer other genres live.

It’s cause rappers scream into the mic instead performing the song how it was recorded. Live rap wasn’t always like this. When the shows became all about being hype, it got out of hand. Old rap concerts, where there rapper performed it how they rapped it in record, was dope.

Value in other genres comes from the ability to perform the song well in a live setting. The fans of rap don’t have that as an important metric. I had friends say fuck do and so band, they sucked live.no one cares about that with hip hop, it doesn’t devalue the music the same way it does with other genres for some reason.

Too many concerts for me. Nas was great and still only rap show I've seen. Epic show, he sounded great. I've seen all kinds of bands live from heavy metal, classic rock, to grateful dead members. They say for every 3 grateful dead concerts, only one is good. I've been to Sold out bb king birthday show. Music festivals from ozzfest to eric clapton guitar festival. Local bands too. I've paid for a lot of shows. I saw offspring in 2001, they were great. The opening band sucked so bad, I wanted to leave. Their guitarist hit himself in head with his guitar trying to headband and play at the same time, and hurt himself good. I think their name was sum 41. I thought it was gonna be a bad night. Thankfully, the Offspring came out and killed it. All kinds of music can suck live. I thought limp bizkit was gonna suck. They opened for Metallica in 04. I was shocked at how much fun I had during limp bizkit. Didn't expect it. He danced around with a flamethrower. You just never know. Some people are just meant to be on stage. Others, not so much.

Live usually doesn't align with the released product. Energy is a great part of the experience but the cadence or the tone will be off. Like I'm here to listen to this catalog but these are completely different songs.

A lot of rappers do live shows with love bands and arrangements for their music. Their shows are just as impressive and fun as almost any other genre i have seen live If all you have a is a backing track, you have to be amazing as a rapper for the show to be good like that.

Ive only seen Kendrick live as far as rap shows go and it was pretty amazing. But I will say if you watch a live rap show on youtube most of those guys are barely even rapping. It’s literally just them dancing to their own song with like 10 guys running around yelling random shit.

But among those who do enjoy rap, I think they've decided that the environment that rap is made for is blasting it from your car while driving through your apartment's parking lot or at the gas station to intentionally annoy people, and/or go "Hey everybody!
