“In the cold December air, all the leaves, thousands upon thousands of them, flashed against the sky, drenched in gold. Every leaf rang with its own light, and all the light poured into me without end.” Love the #WITMonth love

As someone with a lazy eye, I feel this. Other kids were merciless with making fun of me because of it. I'm going to read this just because of that.

Oh no. I’m sorry to hear you were bullied. I remember some kids that did mean things when I was younger and I still think back to what was driving them. I also had a moment where I saw one of them pulled aside in gym class and had to get school-funded tennis shoes as all his family could afford were his snow boots. Always interesting to learn about people.

This was such an articulate review. Interesting to have a more nihilistic view of the author. I’m new to your channel. I saw you comment on another BookTuber’s channel and decided to stop by.

Excellent review. I had a hunch the conversation between Momose and the narrator had nihilistic undertones. Appreciate your explanation of how it relates to Nietzsche's ideas.

I've read countless reviews of this book, but yours is the only one that truly grasps its philosophical depth. Wonderful review!

@@TheCodeXCantina My second. I read Breasts & Eggs earlier this year and enjoyed that one too. Heaven was definitely more emotional for me.

I was teased so much as a kid, I didn't know any other way, lol! Fortunately for me, I've always marched to my own drum and never gave one whit what other kids said or thought. Still sounds like an intriguing read though!

I was bullied tirelessly - not just as a small child, but as a teen and even as an adult. I guess I just have a demeanor that says, "doormat" or "easy target".

*SPOILER QUESTION* Do you have a take on why it was the last time the narrator would ever see Kojima at the end of chapter 8? Great review btw!

well if you think about it after the narrator spoke with his mom/stepmother about the bullying she suggested he doesn't have to go to school and that they will find a way to approach and make it happen. Maybe it's up to the reader to think he never went back to the same school after the last event on the park or, never reach out to Kojima after that.
