Make sure you buy the European version. I did have the Chinese version first and it is completely different to my new one which is European direct from realme.com/Europe. Very few pre-installed apps almost stock Android. You can change the launcher I'm using Google launcher from pixel.

European version arrived with me yesterday and it's a much better experience than you had with Chinese version. Virtually no bloat and the couple of apps which were not required readily uninstalled. So early days but I think Realme have addressed a lot of issues and this version is much better than your reviewed version.

Software-wise, chinese manufacturers change a lot of things compared to stock Android because of a different culture and apps. However, they tend to offer us the same phone with the same software and it's not very adapted to our use. Only OnePlus has two different UI in order to be competitive in every makets, I found it is the best how they do that

I have the European version and what happens to me is the complete opposite. On the lock screen I set it so that it doesn't show pop up, top bar, or vibration notifications and not only I have to do this for EVERY Individual app, I have to do it for every individual notification within an app. For Snapchat, it asks for audible notifications, visual notifications, silent notifications, then individual messages, messages for best friends, snaps, added by a friend, list goes on and on. I can't deal with that kind of cancer. I love the phone so far otherwise. Anyone knows what can I do about this? I was looking to see if I can install stock Android 10 on it, or something similar but seems to be risky and that company has no physical shops in my country plus it would probably void the warranty, also I'm sure stock Android wouldn't come with the stock camera app which I quite like and seems very well optimised. Any help on what I can do? On top of all, it still vibrates on lock screen, despite all vibration notifications being off both on notification settings and on the individual settings for the app.

I can't see the problem of you having to choose what apps you want notifications to show up or not, like... it's always been like that? In fact, I prefer that it gives you as many options on what notifications you want to appear or not. About Android 10: is set to be released on March along with ColorOS 7, so in ~2 months we'll have it. About it vibrating on lock screen, honestly no clue, but try going to Settings > Sound & Vibration. The only times it vibrates is when I mess up my fingerprint :\

@@oldacc111 They're going to release Android 10 and the new realme UI on march, supposedly the notification thing is redesigned. I had upgraded from an older version of Android. It's okay to have individual configuration for app notifications but for Snapchat for example, I have to fiddle with over 20 types of notifications sliders and whatnot. I don't like that, on top of that it just doesn't work as I set it to. It still vibrates regardless of turning all vibration notifications off within the Snapchat notification panel, for when the phone is on loud or silent. I ended up just setting the whole thing to "unimportant notifications" and still sometimes I get a pop up. I just hate it, I shouldn't have to fight my phone and work 20 settings for something that could be overly simplified.

Brilliant phone for the money. Ordered from European site and it arrived in UK within 2 days. The fast charging is insane. Do worry about what it's doing to battery health though. Make sure you pay in Euros if ordering from European site. If you pay in sterling their exchange rate is expensive. Saved me 20 quid by paying in Euros and using my own credit card rate.

Interesting that you couldn't get Nova launcher to work as I think I've seen reviews with this working (tech tablets channel maybe?). I'll have a play and let you know. I've also heard that it will soon get it's own version of Color OS 7 which will be very close to stock. Let's see.

don't get what the title is about !!! the phone has so much going for it , and you like nearly everything ... yet the title suggests otherwise !!! And the camera bins 1 in every 4 pixels , leaving the photo as a 16 mp shot .

Do you mean 'combines'? As this is what it does. Takes 4 pixels to make one. There is hardware and there is software. You need both to have a phone you can use. They only got half of it and ruined it by messing with Android, hence the facepalm and hence 'Why?!' Quite simple I thought.

I do agree with the software worries. I love stock Android but want a better battery life. I have a mi 9t pro. Seriously tics all the boxes, camera, performance battery life ect. But downloads docs such as PDF or word is so frustrating... But on a day to day basis the camera life wins. I run Nova launcher on the 9t which fixes everything but the doc issue 🤨

I ordered the 12g ram and 256 ROM version direct from realme.. ordered in the 23rd Dec at 10am and I got it 24th Dec at 12pm.. lol.. super fast delivery and super fast phone. Charges in 30 mins flat... Very impressed with it coming from p20 pro to this.. imo Andy's review is poor he doesn't know how to turn in the off screen clock🤦 watch Mr who's the boss he gives a honest review of this phone. Remember this is a (£444 what I paid for the top spec) phone... You will not beat it at that price.

Clinging on to the headphone jack Andy ? :) , I use both BT phones on rare occasions , and wired phones most of the time , i cant wear buds or wireless buds they drive me bloody crazy , they fall out , they need charging all the time , they are uncomfortable . Not clinging on to wired phones/head phone jack , it is just convenient and useful feature all of the time , it just works , never needs charging , wired never has connection issues .

So because the phone has feature(s) that YOU don't like the phone is a failure? Everyone is looking for different things out of a smartphone these days. If I wanted to grow my KZbin channel I'd put out more fact based information and present more objective content. Every device will have pros and cons based on a hundred features. If you feel the need to attach an overall opinion you risk alienating yourself from your tech-savvy audience. I felt you did a solid job pointing out many features of this phone, but you should have stopped at that. Once you slathered your negative opinion all over a phone that you mentioned has solid specs and performance leaves a viewer turned off and slightly confused as to your intent. I still subscribed to your channel (just now) because I feel you executed a lot of things well, and will recommend you even though this one video fell short.....kind of what you should have done with this review.

Remember, you can always show a side-by-side comparison with a different phone in order to show the differences of a feature, or UI. Then let the viewer form their own opinion. But if you have a viewer that made a purchase decision based on a feature that you simply state as a Fail because it's your opinion, not only did you basically insult their decision making process, but you also lost a potential subscriber. Not only am I attempting to give you constructive criticism, but also letting you know that the more you dial back the opinion and try to remain objective, the broader the audience you start to appeal to. @@flyin18t Sorry, I disagree. I do videos side by side testing things, have a look. I often say at the end that I've given you the information, you do with it what you want. This is a review, I am supposed to give my opinion on the product. That's kind of the whole point. I don't give it with no backing, I explain why. If the veiwer disagrees then that's fine and they are still free to make their own decision. So, if I state the software is a mess because of a, b and c then the viewer can make their own decision as to whether a, b and c is important. They are not forced to agree. In this case one example is I couldn't change the default launcher. If this doesn't matter to someone, they know this and they can use this info for their own decision. Also, I do give the facts. How many other reviewers state how many decibels they measure from the speakers, the lumens they measure from the screen, the battery percentage from an hours use and the benchmark score? Also, why compare me to a vlogger? I'm not a vlogger. Watch any 'reviewer' and they will give you an opinion on the product they are reviewing. It's the whole purpose of the video. Look up 'review (verb)' and it says in the Cambridge Dictionary "If critics review a book, play, film, etc. they write their opinion of it"

This is similar to Huawei phones where you have to use ADB to remove some apps and force other default apps...which is not ideal and you still have quirks. Wonda Mobile only shows the Chinese Version. It actually says in big red letters ‚Chinese Version with Google Play, English display‘ so i guess it is Chinese ROM which had English, French and some other language options. Somehow I get the feeling the research before getting this phone was badly done. However the review seems at least fair enough as you mention good and bad points.

Artdog I don’t know about this seller, but normally they open the box, pre-install „western apps“ (like Google play) and then re-package everything. As far as I know they just install the service but don’t flash the whole phone.

Great review Andy but a few issues though which are 100% down to the non euro version: 1) default launcher can be changed, currently using nova 2) aod is present just needs switching on 3) 50w charging is accurate,. Mine charges within 28 minutes 0 to 100 4) Google assistant came as standard Most of the issues you have encountered certainly seem to be the non euro variant. I do think your reviews are great though, just a shame this review wasn't based on the european market version as it's an amazing phone for the money.

@@AAUK did you flash the rom by yourself? Never seen a global rom on a phone coming with a CN brick... With an unsealed box from china, most likely to install google apps. This is not yet released in India and sales in Europe will start today. Only the reviewers got the eu version in advance, which clearly is not your case since you imported a china phone.
