Your Wittgenstein videos are very neat. I look forward to seeing more. Are you planning to cover Schiller and Gadamer also?

Thanks very much! I was thinking to do something on Gadamer's notion of play and possibly Schiller's concept of the play drive at some point, but I'll need to read and think a lot more about those before I do.

I can not watch content regarding the philosophy of video games without Max Derrat's channel, contribution, and analysis on KZbin coming to mind. As he would say, "Stay Yellow."

I often wonder about this (maybe a little more than most), do you think in this freedom some of us have chosen to become/create gods? Maybe through succession of the corporate ladder, mastery of the follower economy, or perhaps more nefariously; unwilling penetration of the human mind through hidden technological advancement😅 🤐I think modern video games teach us that the real world has become more like a game than we could ever imagine, and we're still stuck in early access with ALOT of bugs. This was a great video though! Well earned sub c:

Maybe one day we will collectively choose to shape the world based on the architecture of a beloved MMO in a metaverse simulation

There was a show on British TV a while back called 'How Video Games Changed the World', which listed 50 games which have changed the world. Number 1 was Twitter, and the point was that social media had basically become a game, and that our lives are becoming more 'gamified' as time goes on. I don't know about creating or becoming gods, but I think humanity has certainly had to fill the hole left by god, and has had to try and create things which fulfil the functions a god used to in our lives - maybe this is technology. People have organised their lives, communities, and thinking around religion and gods, and you could argue that technology now fulfils this role for us. I actually heard a scholar argue for this in a talk recently, saying that technology had replaced mythology. Thanks for the sub too! Glad you enjoyed the video :)

alot of academia is studying studying (meta) but is woefully detached from directly engaging with and experiencing the realities of our life. vgs are artistic and symbolic representation of life, but not life itself (fishing, combat, hiking). we're caught in a death spiral of an imagistic house of mirrors. detach from reality and study your attachment at your own peril.
