Im 43 and group up loving wrestling. Like you, it gave me an interest in storytelling. Its amazing what pro- wrestling has accomplished in that regard. Great vid bro.

His in ring ability was excellent, but his promo ability, and ability to build up his opponents was incredible. It struck me as a kid how he would do all the bragging and gloating and tearing down someone, to then turn right around and say how great they were. He could make anyone look like a million bucks, and that is the true way to judge a great wrestler. I think too many people judge him by his out of the ring/personal/financial issues. But as a wrestler/character, no one was better.

I’d say Hogan, but I agree- Flair checks all the boxes: ring skills, mic skills, legacy, and fame in the business.

He travelled a lot; he dresses well a lot alongside his alligator shoes and also he has a daughter who won the NXT, Divas, RAW, SmackDown and Women's Tag Team Championship belts

Brilliant video. You narrated my entire emotions about him from watching him as kid. Used to hate him a lot as a kid, but like u say the most memorable matches always involved him. He was such a great entertainer who knew how to draw so much emotion from the viewer.

In the NWA days, he would have to travel from town to town and put on a main event level match with local babyfaces and make them shine well enough that the audience is convinced their local hero was going to win only for Flair to cheat and win. Which leads to them coming back next time because the outcome would have been different if he didn't cheat. Simple yet complex and brilliant.

It can't be said enough; he put pretty much any & everyone over. He may not have had much respect for them as pro wrestlers, which he's candidly stated in the past, but his whole persona was built around putting guys over. I really believe he's the best to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots.

Its easy this Mount Rushmore, Austin 1st, Hogan 2nd, Rock 3rd and Bret Hart 4th. I was born in 1984, so I grew up with it all, in the late 80s I had everything with Hulk Hogan on it. He was the biggest strar on the planet, everybody said at the time. You will never see a bigger Wrestling star like Hulk Hogan ever, you have to remember, everything was built around Hogan. He was the main draw, he was the champion, he carried the company. yes he had others that he needed, like Macho Man, Bret Hart, Ultimate Warrior, Andre Giant, Big Boss Man, Million Dollar man and Ric Flair. Yet he took the WWF mainstream. He started starring in movies, selling merchandise, packing out arenas, he was so famous back then. He was the one who started it all off, he was the one that made Wrestmania s big, he headlined 8 of the first 9 Wrestlemanias. So that tells you how much the WWF relied on him. Thats also a record amount for any Wrestler at Wrestlemania. The reason Bret Hart has to be on there, is he was an unbelievable wrestler. He also was in both eras of Wrestling, the Hogan era and the Austin era, just before the start of the attitude era. You can als figure out how big of a star Bret was, Hogan never wanted to put him over. He would tell Vince Bret is not a main draw, he did that out of fear of losing his spot as the number 1. So then left when Bret was given the chance, same thing with Shawn Michaels and Triple H, they didn't want Bret Hart there. They wanted the competition out that way, so they could be the main nes. They did the same with Austin and Rock, they tried to stop them form rising in te WWF. Yet this time, Vince never listened, Triple H and Shawn were at that time, bad for the company. Going back to Bret, Look at his matches with Shawn Michaels, Austin, Bulldog. He was carrying the company at the time, when it was going through a difficult period, With the steroids scandal, yet he got people still watching Wrestling. Bret Hart was brilliant on the mic, he had brilliant promos and he made it look real. He honestly made you believe that it was all 100% legit. It is a real shame he had to go WCW, he would of fitted in easily in the Attitude Era. Also remember, Bret helped build stars, it was him who told Vince to give The Rock and Austin a chance. He made sure when he was on top, that he worked with Austin and The Rock, thats why they have said how much they love Bret Hart. Then you get the most unexpecting thing in the History of Wrestling, a man not only comes along and becomes a bigger draw than Hulk Hogan. He becomes the biggest ever Star in all aspects of the Company. I never in a million years, expected anybody to big as big as Hogan was, I still to this day can't explain what it was like. When Stone Cold become a huge star, it made everybody want to watch Wrestling. You would get excited every week, you couldn't miss an episode. Austin was so over at the time, not even Hulk Hogan coming back to the WWE, would change that. Nobody will ever come close to Austin, that time period will never be matched. His 3 Matches with The Rock, are legendary, they will never be macthed. His match with Bret, when he passed out, his matches with The Undertaker, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle were all brilliant. Then he had the rivalry with Vince, that was the best television ever. He was funny, could Wrestle long matches, short matches, he could brawl or have a technical fight. His mic skills, promos, funny segments, are unmatched. You have to remember, bck then, there was no script. Bret, Austin and the Rock amongst others. Did it all from the top of their heads, thats what makes them so amazing He is rightfully many peoples Goat, his time on top is so badly missed. You couldn't fully appreciate it, unless you were there. Just imagine having a company, with stars like Nash, Diesel, Bret, Flair, Hogan, Sting, DPD, Vadar, Goldberg and Booker, a company who had beat WWF for 83 straight weeks in the ratings war. That one man, Stone Cold, made the WWF start beating the WCW in ratings. Not only that, made the WWF at the time, the most successful time period ever. He also won the Monday Night wars and helped put WCW out of business. Thats why he is the ultimate Goat. I myself, was very happy, we never saw Hogan vs Austin, I would not of wanted to choose who to support out of them two. I also think Hogan would of been overshadowed by Austin. The crowd would of booed Hogan, which I think would of upset Hogan. So he may of made the match poor on purpose. I also don't believe Hogan would of sold Austins Moves, it would not of been a good match. Then you go to the Rock, he is also on there, for the simple reason, he was entertaining, unbelievable on the Mic, top promos, his rivalry with Stone Cold is unmatched, it was fun, funny, epic, legendary, just perfect. The biggest reason, when Stone Cold was out injured, at the peak of the Attitude Era. Nobody thought anybody could fill that void, yet The Rock did. He not only filled it, he too like Austin, become a mega star. He never topped Austin, yet he did what nobody else could do, he come very close to Austin. His 3 matches with Austin, Hulk Hogan match, the 2 John Cena fights, he also fought Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. While fighting Kurt Angle, Jericho, Triple H, Undertaker and Kane. He is 100% deservedly on there, yet he just couldn't pass Austin or Hogan. I have no idea why Flair is mentioned, he was never anywhere near the biggest star in the 80s, Andre, Hogan, Macho Man and even Ultimate Warrior were bigger. Even when Flair went to WCW, there were loads more bigger and over than him. Goldberg, Sting, DPD, Nash, Hogan were all bigger stars. He had the same boring moves, the same sort of matches, there was nothing exciting about him. There were tons of Wrestlers that had better mic skills and Promos then him. I just think because of his 16 titles and how long he did it, thats why some people think it. Its a very similiar situation with the Undertaker, at no time was the Undertaker, ever the biggest star or draw, he was overshadowed by Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena, Brock and CM Punk at different time periods. So if thats the case, how can he ever be considered. Thats my opinion, I grew up at the time and just go off of what people were thinking at the time. You have to also say, The Rock and Austin were also lucky for the stars they did have a the time. Just like Hogan, you have to also have brilliant other Wrestlers, to have around you and work with. To have on the roster at the time, all in their prime, made for the Attitude Era to be so big. Just how good was Kurt Angle, then you had Mick Foley, Taker, Kane, Jericho, Triple H, Shawn, Vince, Shane, Big Show, Rikishi. What a time that was, the Hell In The Cell 6 Man fight at Armeggedon. That fight with Austin, Rock, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Undertaker and Rikishi, that was the pinnacle of wrestling. Then the invasion, team WWF VS Team WCW. What a time that was for wrestling, now wrestling is nowhere near what it once was. I don't believe it ever will be, if I am honest. Now with the cancel culture thats going on, means it can't be replicated, even if they wanted too.

Ric Flair was not the best, he is actually one of the worst who ever stepped in the ring. He was overrated and so annoying!
@RColo743 жыл бұрын
Pretty weak argument, If you saw one Flair match you seen them all. The NWA wasn’t nearly the money maker WWF was with Hogan or the greatest wrestler of all time Randy Savage who was sensational as a heel or face. Flair was a terrible face early in his career. Watch Randy vs Dynamite Kid maybe you’ll learn something
@StoryBrain3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely wrong and you didn't even watch the video because that was addressed. Flair's matches only got formulaic after he was already in his 40's.
@bobbyjoeyoung2becausesteph1943 ай бұрын
no natural talent to think of was limited in repertoire and he is the definition of polishing a turd good stage presence but nothing special in terms of in ring ability and he single handedly killed wcw when they chose to promote some flabby old geezer over real talent like bret hart
@StoryBrain3 ай бұрын
You seem to be defining in-ring ability as the variety of things you can do in the ring instead of the ability to get an emotional reaction out of the audience with the things you do.
