Thanks for watching! The young community is primarily stuck on L plates with 125s. And it's because getting the license is age-restricted which makes it quite expensive to progress; and then life gets in the way. Waiting until A2 is definitely worth it, though one day I am sure I will get the full license. Maybe I'll make a video on that topic. Appreciate you stopping by the channel.

I almost never leave comments on KZbin videos, but I have been really reeling towards motorcycles for the last few months and this video speaks volumes in emotions and hits me differently. I've always been a car guy since the time I've learnt to speak, and never thought of bikes as anything more than troubling commuters. But being in college, watching the other guys taking their hand-down bikes from their dads, taking care of these beautiful machines like a comrade and enjoy all commutes - long and short on these bikes, makes me really own a bike. I watch biking videos and reviews of my favorite bikes alsmost everyday, and wish to upgrade to one the moment I get a job. I am 20, and didn't have a father (which I don't regret) for most of my life to make me understand the thrill of riding a bike. Since I was 13, I have always rode my mom's scooter, which I own now and have clocked nearly 30k kilometers on. Mom always says that she wants to buy a newer scooter for me and doesn't want me to ride bikes as it's a common notion in my country that gearless two wheelers with no safety features are somehow safer than geared ones with bigger wheels and better braking. I wish to buy my first bike by the end of 2025, and have my eyes on the Triumph Speed 400, if I am able to get a job to sustain the machine. And if it's too heavy on my pockets, I have thought of getting the TVS Ronin 225 - a very able machine with better economy, with no compromise in fun whatsoever. Anyway, I'm leaving this comment here to ensure that by the end of the year, when I am sitting somewhere and this video has blown up, I probably might get reaction notifications on my comment and check how my teenage journey has been, and how much I have grown in a span of a year. Hope I'll be on two wheels, smiling down at my phone, and taking a sigh of relief and joy. And in case I am not, then I'll still be happy because I know I'd have given my best. :) Wishing your channel great success ahead!

Loved your video. I started riding two years ago at the age of 56 by passing my obligatory courses and tests. I’m in Canada and the courses and full road tests can take over a year to complete. But, it was well worth it. I’ve always had a passion for everything mechanical and the motorcycle is the perfect evolution of that. When I ride my bike, I instantly become more aware of everything around me and it awakens sensations that have been dormant all my life. I feel completely alive and free. I guess we need a little danger every day to truly live.
@TheYoungFilmmaker4 күн бұрын
Really well said. My tests and courses took a couple of months, not including the compulsory bike training for learner plates here in the UK, and remember being quite tired by it all and the costs. But now that I can ride a bigger bike anytime it all feels worth it and I am so glad to have persisted. Keep on riding and greetings from Cornwall to Canada 🕊️

Fantastic Video, really enjoyed it. Like most I don’t comment much. My dad passed away 6 months ago in his mid 60’s and he got me into Motorbikes (and Cars). My dad and my uncles toured Europe in their younger days, unfortunately my uncle was hit side on and lost his leg, that put an end to most of their biking days. When I turned 16 I convinced my dad to let me get a Yamaha Aerox, that went to a CBR 250rr and then a 400rr. Life got in the way and ai left biking for years. Fast forward 20 years later and I now have a daytona 675 and a BMW K1200s tourer. Time is not on my side with kids and life, so I rarely get out. Every few months I go to sell the bikes as the cash could be put to better use. On the odd day I manage a spin, i clear my head and reflect on life and find it great for my head. Meet biker buddies for a coffee. Its moments like them and videos like yours that remind me not to sell or give up on biking. I think of my dad when I’m on it and wished we could have taken a trip together, he would have loven that but his health wouldnt let him. Keep doing what you are, stay safe out there 🏍️👍🏼

Wow, a really lovely video! I think we're similar in age, and my reason for biking was very similar to both you and your Dad's. I lived in rural Wiltshire - so as you said, terrible public transport that didn't work for me and my new job. It was also just the start of Covid, so there were no driving lessons at all - however, I could get my CBT. Having been on and off dirtbikes for years, I went that direction, and haven't looked back... Till 2 weeks ago. The "not if, but when", happened. I was on a semi rural 30 mph with my girlfriend pillion, being aware and entirely legal. A range rover ended up pulling out on us, giving me simply not enough time to do anything. There was so much visibility for him, I simply didn't consider it a possibility he'd pull out - I'm usually very good, spotting cars in advance and preparing myself... But it happened, and we're okay. Sadly my lovely cb900f hornet was fully written off, but better it than us. I am very thankful, people haven't walked away from less. I broke my wrist and chipped my shin, but 2 weeks of rest and I'm already looking at new bikes (idiot). But I felt a real pull at my heart with your Dad's story - how heart breaking. That's why I decided to leave this comment, I saw many parrells on topics you mentioned. Stay safe and happy riding, P.s. if you're ever in south wales, lets go for a ride :D

Lovely video, Luther. Just about sums up what it means to be a young biker. I came at it from a dad who was obsessed with bikes, so started in a field on a monkey bike in the 70s at the age of 5. My mum put the skids on me getting one on the road at 16, having lived through my dad’s near and not-so-near misses on and off road, but I bought my first road bike in my early 20s, and having no money, ran about on some ropey old 250s and 500s for many years. As they are for you now, they were my sole mode of transport for at least a decade, length and breadth of the country, come rain or shine. I finally got my first new bike in my early 30s, a ZX6r that i cherished. Great times. You’ve hit the nail on the head about biking, and imbued the high and lows and pitfalls, all wrapped up in a lovingly shot and compiled video. You even manage to capture the nostalgia of a man in his 50s now, with too many bikes in the garage, so keep up the good work.

Great video I rode motorcycles every day in England then I moved to the US at 27. I had never driven a car, took my test passed then 2 weeks later brought a bike and didn't drive again till I was 32. Still riding now at 56 no longer ride in the winter because I live in the mountains of Tennessee and the winters are cold plus I have a Thruxton 1200r and I don't wont salt getting on it. I can see myself still riding at 70 with the new rider assist I think bikes will get better over the years.

I hope you can keep riding! And in Tennessee it must be a beautiful experience. My dad is hoping to continue riding for many years past 70, and I hope to ride with him. He has a Honda NC750 now that is DCT so much more relaxing to ride than his older bikes.

You are right. The one time I rode a bike really changed my life. I am the son of a bike enthusiast, my dad restores, repairs, buys and sells bikes and he does pretty much everything else you can do with them so he always wanted me to ride as well when I´m old enough. When I was 15 and was about to get my license my best friend (who was exactly one year older) had a really bad accident with his fist bike he had for maybe 6 months. He didn´t make it. And that time I swore I would never get on anything with two wheels and a motor. 12 years later my granddad passed away and he was the only one who was riding together with my dad until then. They had a tour every month together even with 82 years before he passed. So after the funeral I decided to take one of my dads bikes and do a tour with my dad like he and my grandpa always wanted me to. My dad was happy to hear it and he immediately got a bike out of the garage for me. Ofc as the son of these two guys I knew how to theoretically drive them but I actually never drove one before. I pull the clutch, put it in gear, rev it up a little and started to let go off the clutch.... Man this thing was fing fast.... I honestly never expected such force, my dad and my grandpa made it look so smooth and easy, but I... I took off right into the side of my dads 6 month old truck with such force that the airbags deployed in the back row. The bike had a bent fork, I had a broken arm and a broken rib and my helmet was pretty much broken. It cost 16 k to fix my dads truck, the bike is not repaired yet (if ever) so no clue what it would cost and luckily I have good insurance but It literally changed my life. This happened 6 years back, I have full recovered, the truck is repaired and my dad never asked again if I wanted to ride with him instead we had some really nice fishing and road trips in cars together 😅

The case against riding can be as strong as the case for riding, so I respect this. Thanks for sharing dude, and glad you're all healed up. Fishing trips and road trips in the car sound wonderful as well.

@@TheYoungFilmmaker It´s not that I have something against bikes or riding. I believe bikes have something against me. I´ll be the guy to pick you up with truck and trailer when your bike fails 🙃

I started riding in my late forties out of curiosity and possibly because of a midlife crisis, and it caught me with same spirit on the same bike. Always stay upright!

I learnt to ride at the age of 57, I just wish I had found the wonder of biking 40 years ago. Your film is wonderful, good storys and advice. Stay safe and enjoy your time in Bristol, my youngest son went to uni there and never left!

I started riding my 125cc when i was 16. On my 1st week riding it, i had a stupid accident and was left on crutches for 3 months. As soon as I could I hoped back on the bike and off I went. I knew I couldn't let that accident stop me from riding, otherwise I'd be afraid for life. Today I'm 29. Have since sold that motorcycle, and can for sure say I am a better driver to this day because of riding a bike. Rode it for many years and I loved it. Have not had any accident since that one. It taught me a lot.

Well done on the video! Nice storytelling, pace, editing and sound. All really well produced, with a personal and engaging style. Keep up the great work! You are correct about theft, sadly. I live in London and keeping the bike secure is a constant battle (and the rain of course 😂). Still worth it in the end.

London must be quite stressful at times. I rode into the city once for an event, ended up hitting a taxi driver's mirror, but we both laughed it off. Whenever I see someone with a nice bike I ask them for some security tips! Safe riding and thanks for watching.

Thoroughly enjoyed your video, well put together, actually better than a lot of television stations could or would do. I love riding & I ride a small 300cc bike & love it, way better than larger capacity bikes for fun & commuting. Keep up the great work, I hope you are studying video production or editing as you have definitely got a knack for it…good luck

That's a great film. Hope you have a long and fantastic life on two wheels, the best hobby a man can have. I'm at the other end of my riding journey, I'm 58 years old and I've been riding since I was about nine years. I've been lucky to meet amazing people along the way, laughed so hard, such great memories. Time is just beginning to claw at my boots now; for the first time this year I felt the weight of the machine, the miles in my bones.. I've got a long way still to go, lots of miles to do and I will love doing them, as always. Just a bit slower, on lighter machinery probably 😊. I was lucky enough to do a short euro tour in the summer with my son, he got his A2 last year. It was a magical experience. Amongst a lifetime of magical experiences. Keep your eyes open, ride safe. Motorbikes are life 😊

When you revealed the Suzuki gs500 I gasped, that's my bike! They're so cheap and easy to understand and work on, it's the perfect bike for that reason. I've toured and commuted on it, so many memories, I love it to bits. I call her leaky Sue (although I've since fixed them all, it used to be very leaky). Planning on a move to London and I'll have no concerns leaving it on the streets and riding around the city with it, no one would go out their way to steal such a pile of junk, lol. My first bike post 125 too and I don't plan on changing it anytime soon.
