You're treating Ripjaws like Aquaman from Justice League. Yes, he does have the problem with being on land for too long, but the other aliens had their specific weaknesses too. Grey Matter just wasn't useful in a physical fight. Heatblast was weak to either water, cold or fire-extinguishers. Ghostfreak wasn't really strong. Cannonbolt was pretty klutzy. And let's not forget aliens that made no sense like Walkatrout.

I can't take fans seriously under this. Judging the aliens in retrospect like newbies. It's like someone calling old games bad because of what they can do in new games under new advanced tech. It's already agreed upon in the show's realty was aliens being basic for starters but behind the scenes, ideas start to develop. That's why complaining of Ripjaws useless cause other aliens can breathe under water or Stinkfly being lame cause other aliens can fly is just wrong. I mean the universe is big, a lot of species can have similar powers. It's like a Galvan calling human's worst transformation after just learning there is a species similar to humans but can leap and heal faster. Ripjaws isn't useless. He's only useful in certain situations. Most creatures have abilities meant to help them in their own habitat. Ripjaws is adapted for living in water. His abilities are only helpful in missions and battles underwater.

Maybe if they expanded on Ripjaws’ powers, like maybe his bioluminescent appendage could’ve been used to blind enemies, or maybe hypnotize enemies into dropping their guard or obey simple commands (like how irl anglerfish use theirs to lure prey). Otherwise, Ripjaws is barely superhuman, which is a shame because he’s amongst my favorite design-wise.

All of Ben's water based transformations get done dirty. Ripjaws, Jetray who only flies underwater once, and Amphibian who had a ton of cool abilities that Ben rarely ever used. It's a shame.

Well that's the point of the Omnitrix though it was never meant as a weapon or used for being a hero It's whole point is to communicate and experience the life of almost all intelligent lifeforms of the multiverse if it was meant as you wanted it wouldn't have contained any weaker Aliens but just have the stronger ones like Atomix or heck just Alien-X it's only Ben and Vilgax that would misuse the watch So the Aliens like Ripjaws isn't a just for situational use it's whole point is to live and experience what's it like for that species of whatever abilities it can do both a the good and the bad

He stayed in the middle of a desert for multiple minutes without a single sign of fatigue, and just because Ripjaws is "just a water alien" is not a bad thing. Four Arms is "just a strength alien". Xlr8 is "just a speed alien". Heatblast is "just a fire alien". See doesn't that sound ridiculous? Ripjaws has gotten electricuted once and he immediately recovered, and there are other aliens that have weaknesses. Ripjaws is the opposite of one dimensional. He has plenty of cool powers, a cool design, a cool concept he's just cool. Aliens don't need to be ultra complex to be great, Four Arms, Xlr8, Heatblast, Waybig, Articguana, all very simple, but still really fun and cool. Ripjaws is way to underused and underestimated. He's an absolute powerhouse, on land and in water, but people don't appreciate that and mark him down as "just a water alien". Stop the Ripjaws hate 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

Ripjaws's appearance is based on that of deep sea anglerfish. He is from a planet covered in water and his species becomes more amphibious as it matures. As an adult, it can breathe on land as long as their is enough moisture for it. It's a lot more effective out of water when Ben is older. As a kid, Ripjaws is a fish out of water in more ways than one. Most creatures in general have abilities that are only helpful in the right habitat. Plus, Ripjaws is way more helpful than Walkatrout.

his design is so gnarly and deep-sea-creature-esque that i genuinely couldn't care less if his only power was to flap around on the floor. i'd rather a really cool, visually interesting but situational alien who needs a little work in the ability department than a powerhouse built like a clothes mannequin. ripjaws is the kind of variety you need in a show like this, where it's easy to become uninspired and just give the main character a power, without any consequences, that makes all of the others redundant

It's not even just the fault of the alien, half the time they never utilised ripjaws even even when there was water (Benwolf, deep, monster weather, i could go on) And In OV undertown has a pretty substantial river/canal that made for great underwater scenes but was barely utilised

Waybig would have made Ben Way too OP early on which would definitely make his other aliens less significant. Cannonbolt's charm in being the 11th Alien fits better because Ben didn't know there were more than 10 aliens in the Omnitrix, and it's hilarious to see him figure out his powers. Also it makes his debut less significant since he was the only alien that could stop The Big Tick whereas his other aliens couldn't.

On a power level scale, he sucks no doubt, but in my book he holds merit for his design in the original series being about mythological creatures and folklore in tandum with aliens, the original series did alot more then just aliens. There was zombies, mutants and even magic was kinda its own thing. Ripjaws to me is the series trying to play into that by making an iconic fishman monster into some sort of alien, which brings his lore and story potential up by quite alot. His problems arent rooted in him sucking on a power scale level but they didnt grab enough at his potential as an alien.

Imo, after the first season from classic, Ripjaws just became a joke alien, simillar to Grey Matter. With Ben unlocking new aliens and the restrictions that Ripjaws have, he just became the funny mistransformation alien. While Gray Matter was creative, Rpijaws was still limited as a joke alien. Ripjaws is a semi-aquatic being, similar to a mudskipper. He probably breathes through his skin when out of water. If a mudskipper dries out, they suffocate.

Nothing wrong with Ripjaws or some of the other regular Aliens themselves. There's an explaination both on and off screen. On screen the Omnitrix was a prototype tool that got some of the more simple aliens for it's wielder. Off screen it's obviously ideas developing. People calling aliens like Ripjaws, Stinkfly, Ditto or others lame because of later transformations is kind of over doing it.

He's basic niche, like every other classic alien. One can't compare Ripjaws to Jetray or anyother swimmer for matter cause their not in the same playlist. Yes he's useless on land but you know Heatblast is useless in water(on a planet thats 2/3rds water), Upgrade is useless with magnets, Fourarms is useless in cramped spaces, Greymatter size makes him vulnerable, Stinkfly is useless wet, XLR8 can be knocked off his feet mid speed, Diamondhead can fracture to sonic blasts, Wildmutt can only see through his thermal gills. Each alien has a krutch thats why they have variety in Ben 10. After Classic Greymatter isn't used much cause theres already Azmuth, just as Plumber Pilatdae has more appearances than Ripjaws himself, and Stinkfly is overshadowed in flight by classic aliens like Heatblast, and thats Stinkfly main department. but people continue to love stinkfly just for his design(as I do ripjaws). As for originality Ripjaws is one of the best designs actually even if thats opinion biased the gimmick is to look alien so that every variety is marketable. But please note thisn't a hate comment its your channel and making videos takes time and love to do, its just it is biased video when other aliens like Stinkfly, and Greymatter fall into this rule too.

Not to use this as a cop out for the writers, as you could say this for any alien, but they're exactly that, aliens. As we saw in UA, Ripjaws' homeworld is a water world, with hardly any land. So yeah, it makes sense for him to be almost fully adapted for an aquatic lifestyle and combat. Plus, in my opinion, a drawback makes him just as unique as any extra ability could. Sure he sucks at on-land combat, but Greymatter sucks at physical combat. The aliens all have their ups and downs, which is important to telling varied stories.
